< 1 Corinth 8 >
1 Tun milim houna'a kikatdoh anneh thudol seikhom ute. Nanghon nahet nau chamkimtah chu mijousen napompeh diuvin nagel'uve. Hinla hetna hin eiho kihithei sahna eipeh laiyun, ngailutna joh hin Houbung asahdoh ahibouve.
NOW concerning the things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.
2 Ijakai donbutna hea kingaitoa chun hetna tahbeh aneilou ahi.
But if any man conceit that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 Hinlah Pathen ngailu mi chu Pathen in ahetpeh mi hi ahi.
But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4 Hiti chu ahileh, milim houna'a kikatdoh saneh thu ahil'a itin tem? Aphai, eiho jousen milim hi pathen tahbeh ahipoi, chule Pathen khatseh bou aume ti iheuve.
Now concerning eating things sacrificed unto idols: we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
5 Van sunga le lei chunga pathen ho tia kouthei ding uminte, chule mi phabep hon pathen tampi le pakai tampi hou tahbeh uvinte.
For though there are gods so called, whether celestial or terrestrial, (as of this sort there are gods many, and lords many; )
6 Hinlah eihon Pa chu Pathen khatseh, ijakai sempa ahin, chule eiho Ama dinga hinga ihiuve ti iheuve. Chule Pakai khatseh bou Yeshua Christa chu ahin, Ama jal'a Pathen in ijakai asema chule Ama jal'a eiho hinna eipeh u ahi.
but to us there is one God, the Father; of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Ahinlah atahsan jousen chehi ahetsoh keiyu ahipoi. Mi phabep chun lim semthu pathen chu atahbeh a angaitouva, hitia chu limsemthu pathena lhatdohsa thil chu aneh tenguleh, pathen tahbeh hou dan'a kigeljiu ahi, chule se le pha ahetkhen nau chu asuboiyin ahi.
Howbeit there is not in all men this knowledge; but some having conscientious respect for the idol to this moment, eat the meat as sacrificed to the idol; and their conscience being weak, is defiled.
8 Eihon ithilneh u chun, Pathen lunglhaina sodohsah ponte, ti hi adih e ti iheuve. Hichu inehlouva ahileh ima imansah u aumpon, chule ineh ujongleh ima aphachom imupouve.
But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither if we eat are we the better, or if we eat not are we the worse.
9 Hinlah eiho ikichihtheina dingu chu, eiho ichamlhat nau chun ase le apha hetna lhasam khat'in kipalna a aneikhah louna ding hi ahi.
But take heed that this power of yours become not an occasion of stumbling to the weak.
10 Ajeh iham itileh midangin nangman hetna sangjo nanei jeh a milim houna in'a naneh chu hung muhenlang hileh, hichun amaho se-le-pha hetna aneiyu chu anahsahmo bola, milim houna a lhatdoh anneh chu aneh tahlou dingu ham?
For if any man see thee that hast knowledge, sitting in an idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?
11 Hitia chu nangman hetna chungnungjo nanei jeh a, Christian alhasam khat, ajeh a Christa thi, chu nasuhmang ding ahitai.
And the weak brother will be destroyed by thy knowledge, for whom Christ died.
12 Chule nangman atahsan midang chun adihpoi, tia alung uva atahsan uchu abol ding uva natil khouva ahileh, nangma Christa dounaa chonsea nahitai.
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 Hitia hi keiman ipi ham chu kaneh jeh a atahsan midangin chonsetnaa aneileh, keiman kahin laisen sa kiti neponge, ajeh chu keiman atahsan midang khat chu kakipalsah nompon ahi. (aiōn )
Wherefore if meat give occasion of offence to my brother, I will in no wise eat meat for ever, that I give no cause of offence to my brother. (aiōn )
