1 Akua mapo in Jesus sia Christ hi, ci a um peuma Pathian i ta a hihi: a pa a it peuma in a ta zong it hi.

Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God; and every one who loves the Father loves also Him who is the Father's Child.

2 Eite Pathian i it a a thupiak te i zui ciang in, Pathian tate i hihi, ci i he hi.

The fact that we love God Himself, and obey His commands, is a proof that we love God's children.

3 Banghangziam cile thupiakna te i zui na sia Pathian i it hang a hihi: taciang Ama thupiak te sia a haksa a hi bua hi.

Love for God means obedience to His commands; and His commands are not irksome.

4 Banghangziam cile Pathian ta peuma in leitung zo hi: taciang leitung i zaw thei na sia i upna a hihi.

For every child of God overcomes the world; and the victorious principle which has overcome the world is our faith.

5 Jesus sia Pathian tapa a hihi, ci a um te simngawl kua in leitung zo ziam?

Who but the man that believes that Jesus is the Son of God overcomes the world?

6 Hisia pa sia tui le thisan taw hongpai Jesus Christ a hihi; tui taw bek hi ngawl hi, tui le thisan taw a hihi. Taciang hi thu Thaa in tettipang hi, banghangziam cile Thaa sia thuman a hihi.

Jesus Christ is He who came with water and blood; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And it is the Spirit who gives testimony-- because the Spirit is the Truth.

7 Banghangziam cile vantung ah tetti thum om a, Pa, Thu, le Tha Thiangtho: hi te thum sia pumkhat a hihi.

For there are three that give testimony-- the Spirit, the water, and the blood;

8 Taciang leitung ah zong tetti thum om a, Thaa, tui le thisan te a hihi: taciang hi te thum sia khat in ki thukimkhawm uh hi.

and there is complete agreement between these three.

9 Mihing te i tetti i sang a hile, Pathian i tetti lianzaw hi: banghangziam cile Pathian i tetti sia a Tapa huvau tettipang hi.

If we accept the testimony of men, God's testimony is greater: for God's testimony consists of the things which He has testified about His Son.

10 Pathian Tapa a um peuma in ama sung ah tetti nei hi: a um ngawl peuma in Pathian sia leilot thuson suaksak hi; banghangziam cile Pathian in a Tapa hongpiakna tetti a up ngawl hang a hihi.

He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in his own heart: he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, in that he has refused to accept the testimony which God has given about His Son.

11 Taciang tetti sia hisia a hihi, Pathian in tawntung nuntakna hong pia a, hi nuntakna sia a Tapa sung ah om hi. (aiōnios g166)

And that testimony is to the effect that God has given us the Life of the Ages, and that this Life is in His Son. (aiōnios g166)

12 Tapa a nei peuma nuntakna a nei hi; taciang Pathian Tapa a nei ngawl peuma in nuntakna a nei bua hi.

He who has the Son has the Life: he who has not the Son of God has not the Life.

13 Pathian Tapa i min a um note tawntung nuntakna ka nei uh hi, ci na heak thei natu uh in, hi thu te note tung ah kong at hi. (aiōnios g166)

I write all this to you in order that you who believe in the Son of God may know for certain that you already have the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)

14 Eite in Ama sung ah i nei thinmuanna sia, Ama deibang in i nget ciang in Ama in hong za hi:

And we have an assured confidence that whenever we ask anything in accordance with His will, He listens to us.

15 I thungetna hong za hi, ci i he le, bangpo i ngen zong in, i nget te i nga tu hi, ci i he hi.

And since we know that He listens to us, then whatever we ask, we know that we have the things which we have asked from Him.

16 Khatpo in a suapui khat sia thi tak ngawl mawna khat a vawt a mu le, thungetsak tahen, taciang thi tak ngawl mawna a vawt peuma sia Ama in nuntakna pia tu hi. Thitak mawna om a: tua atu in thungetsak tahen, hong ci ngawl khi hi.

If any one sees a brother man committing a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask and God shall give him life--for those who do not sin unto death. There is such a thing as sin unto death; for that I do not bid him make request.

17 Thuman ngawl na theampo sia mawna a hihi: taciang thitak ngawl mawna om hi.

Any kind of wrongdoing is sin; but there is sin which is not unto death.

18 Pathian ta peuma in mawna vawt tawntung ngawl hi, ci i he hi; ahihang Pathian ta in ama le ama ki keamcing a, mi ngilopa in ama thutha ngawl hi.

We know that no one who is a child of God lives in sin, but He who is God's Child keeps him, and the Evil one cannot touch him.

19 Eite Pathian neisa i hihi, ci le leitungbup sia ngitlona sung ah sial hi, ci i he hi.

We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the Evil one.

20 Pathian Tapa hongpai a, a thutang Pathian heakna ciimna hongpia hi, ci i he hi. A thutang Pathian le a Tapa Jesus Christ sung ah i om hi. Hi thu sia a thutang Pathian le tawntung nuntakna a hihi. (aiōnios g166)

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we know the true One, and are in union with the true One--that is, we are in union with His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)

21 Tano te awng, milim te kung pan in noma le noma ki keam tavun. Amen.

Dear children, guard yourselves from idols.
