< Awicyih 9 >
1 Cyihnaak ing a im sa nawh, ak tung khqih ling hy.
Wisdom has built her house; she has prepared its seven pillars.
2 Ak khqin ce him nawh misurtui ce tloeih nawh ak caboei ce phaih hy.
She has slaughtered her animals for meat; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
3 A bibikung nula khqi ce tyi khqi nawh, khawkkhui a sangnaak hynna cet unawh kyy uhy.
She has sent out her servant girls with invitations. She calls out from the highest places of the town,
4 “Cyihnaak amak ta khqi boeih vebenna law lah uh,” tinawh siimnaak amak ta khqi ce khyy khqi hy.
“Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
5 “Law unawh taw, ka buh ai unawh kak tloeih cee misurtui ce aw lah uh.
“Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
6 Aw nangmih thlakqawkhqi aw qaawnaak lam ce cehtaak unawh hqing lah uh; siimnak lamawh ce cet lah uh,” ti hy.
Leave your foolish ways and you will live; follow the path that makes sense.”
7 Thlaktlai ak toel kung ing chah pyi lat nawh, thlakche ak ho kung ing kut zaawk lat hy.
If you correct a mocker all you get are insults; if you argue with the wicked all you get is abuse.
8 Thlaktlai ce koeh toel, ni sawh na kaw, thlakcyi mah toel, anih ing ni lung na kaw.
So don't argue with mockers or they'll only hate you; argue with the wise and they'll love you.
9 Thlakcyi ce toel lah, a cyihnaak pung khqoet kaw; thlakcyi ce cawngpyi lah, a simnaak ing pung khqoet kaw.
Educate the wise and they'll become even wiser; teach those who live right and they will increase their learning.
10 Bawipa kqihchahnaak taw cyihnaak a kungpyina awm nawh, ak ciim siimnaak cetaw zaaksimnaakna awm hy.
Honoring the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One brings insight.
11 Kaih caming na khawkum pung khqoet kawm saw, na hqingnak khawnghii ing sau khqoet kaw.
Through wisdom you'll have many more days, increasing the years of your life.
12 Na cyih awhtaw, namah ham nak cyina awm kawm saw, thlaktlaina na awm awhtaw namah ing zaawk kawp ti.
If you are wise, you are the one to profit from it; if you scoff, you alone will have to suffer the consequences.
13 Nukche ing akut am khoem poek nawh, a khawboe see nawh, am cyi hy.
Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant woman who doesn't know anything.
14 A im chawmkengawh ngawi nawh, khawkkhui hynsang ngawihnaak awhce ngawi nawh,
She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the town,
15 A mimah lamawh ak cet khqi ce khy khqi nawh,
calling out to those passing by, going about their business,
16 “Khaw amak simkhqi boeih vena law seh,” ti nawh khyy hy. Siimthainaak amak ta khqi venawh bai,
“Everybody who needs to learn, come and see me!” To people who don't have any sense she says,
17 “Quuk tui taw aawi dikdik nawh, quuk buh ai taw aawp hy,” ti hy
“Stolen water is sweet, and food eaten in secret tastes good!”
18 Cehlai cawhce thihnaak awm nawh a cei ak thlangkhqi ing Ceeikhui dung soeihna amik awm ni ti am sim uhy. (Sheol )
But they don't know that the dead are there, that those she's invited are in the depths of the grave. (Sheol )
