One Sabbath Jesus was walking through cornfields, and his disciples were picking the ears of wheat, and rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
2 Cedawngawh Farasi thlang vangkhqi ing doet uhy, “Kawtih Sabbath nyn awh sai aham amak ciim nami sai?” tina uhy.
“Why are you doing what it is not allowable to do on the Sabbath?” asked some of the Pharisees.
3 Jesu ing a mingmih a venawh, “David ing a pyikhqi mi amik phoen a cawi awh a sai ce am nami noet khawi nawh nu?
Jesus’ answer was, “Haven’t you read even of what David did, when he was hungry, he and his companions –
4 Khawsa ipkhui na lut nawh, khawsoeihkhqi doeng ing ai aham ak caih phaihpi a mi hoel ce lo nawh ai nawh a pyikhqi awm a pek khqi ak awi ce,” tinak khqi hy.
That he went into the house of God, and took the consecrated bread and ate it, and gave some to his companions, though only the priests are allowed to eat it?”
5 Cekcoengawh Jesu ing a mingmih a venawh, “Thlanghqing Capa ve Sabbath boei na awm hy,” tinak khqi hy.
Then Jesus added, “The Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
6 Ak chang sabbath nyn bai awh sinakawk khuina cet nawh thlang cawngpyi hy, cawh a kut tang ben ak khem thlang pynoet ce awm hy.
On another Sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
7 Farasikhqi ingkaw anaa awi cawngpyikungkhqi ing Jesu thawlh amik puknaak lam ce sui uhy, cedawngawh sabbath nyn awh thlang ak qoei law hly sak nu ti unawh qym uhy.
The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees watched Jesus closely, to see if he would work cures on the Sabbath, so that they might find a charge to bring against him.
8 Cehlai Jesu ing cekkhqi ak kawpoek ce sim nawh a kut ak khem a venawh, “Tho nawh thlang boeih a haiawh dyi lah,” tina hy. Cedawngawh ce ak thlang ce tho nawh dyi hy.
Jesus, however, knew what was in the their minds, and said to the man whose hand was withered, “Stand up and come out into the middle.” The man stood up;
9 Cekcoengawh Jesu ing cekkhqi venawh, “Ni doet khqi lah vang nyng, Sabbath nyn awh kawmih nu sai aham ak thym: them leek sai aw, am awhtaw them che sai aw; hqingnaak thaawng aw, am awhtaw him aw?” tinak khqi hy.
and Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it allowable to do good on the Sabbath – or harm? To save a life, or let it perish?”
10 Cekkhqi ce toek khqi nawh, cawhkaw thlang a venawh, “Na kut ce zyng lah,” tina hy. Anih ing a kut ce zyng saw, cawh a kut ce leek pahoei hy.
Then, looking around at them all, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” The man did so; and his hand had become sound.
11 Cehlai cekkhqi taw amik kaw so nawh, Jesu ce ikawmyihna ni sai lah voei, ti unawh doet qu uhy.
But the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees were mad with rage, and consulted together what they could do to Jesus.
12 Khaw hypoet awh Jesu taw cykcah aham tlang na cet hy, than oet pyt Khawsa venawh cykcah hy.
Now about that time, Jesus went out, up the hill, to pray, and spent the whole night in prayer to God.

When day came, he summoned his disciples, and chose twelve of them, whom he also named ‘apostles.’

They were Simon (whom Jesus also named Peter), and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,

Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon known as the Zealot,

Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who proved a traitor.
17 A mingmih mi tlang nakawng nuk kqum law unawh a hun a zawinaak awh ce dyi hy. A hu awh amik bat thlang khawzah ingkaw Judah qam awhkaw, Jerusalem khaw awhkaw, Tura ingkaw Sidon tui keng awhkaw thlangkhqi ce,
Afterward Jesus came down the hill with them and took his stand on a level place. With him were a large crowd of his disciples, and great numbers of people from the whole of Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast district of Tyre and Sidon,

who had come to hear him and to be restored to health. Those, too, who were troubled with foul spirits were cured;

and everyone in the crowd was trying to touch him, because a power went out from him which restored them all.
20 A hubatkhqi ce a toek coengawh cekkhqi venawh: “Nangmih hahqah ak thlangkhqi taw nami zoseen hy, Khawsa qam taw nangmih a koe ni.
Then, raising his eyes and looking at his disciples, Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Nangmih tuh phoen ak cawikhqi nami zoseen hy, namik phoen phyi kaw. Nangmih tuh ak kqangkhqi nami zoseen hy, qaai ngai kawm uk ti.
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
22 Thlanghqing Capa ak camawh nangmih ce thlang ing ni sawh nak khqi, a ni hoet khqi, a ni zyih khqi, naming ming ce ak che na anik kqawn khqi awh nami zoseen hy.
Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they expel you from among them, and insult you, and reject your name as an evil thing – because of the Son of Man.
23 Cemyihna a ni tinaak khqi awh zeel unawh lam uh, nangmih aham khawk khan na kutdo ak bau soeih awm hy. Cemyihna ni nami pakhqi ingawm tawnghakhqi ce a mina sai hawh hy.
Then indeed you may be glad and dance for joy, for be sure that your reward in heaven will be great; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.
24 “Cehlai nangmih boeikhqi khaw map u hyk ti, na mimah a ngaihdingnaak ce hu hawh u hyk ti.
But alas for you who are rich, for you have had your comforts in full.
25 Tuh nangmih phoen ak phyikhqi, khaw map u hyk ti, namik phoen cawi kaw. Nangmih tuh ak qaaikhqi, khaw map u hyk ti, lungnat za kawm u tiksaw kqang kawm uk ti.
Alas for you who are sated now, for you will hunger. Alas for you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26 Thlang boeih ing am kyih nangmih, khaw map u hyk ti, cemyihna maw a mi pakhqi ing tawnghakhqi ce a mim kyih lawt hy.
Alas for you when everyone speaks well of you; for this is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.
27 “Cehlai kak awi ak ngai nangmih a venawh ka nik kqawn peek khqi: nami qaalkhqi ce lungna uh, nangmih a nik sawhnaak thlangkhqi ce lungna uh, nangmih a nik sawhnaak thlangkhqi ham them leek sai pe uh,
But to you who hear I say – love your enemies, show kindness to those who hate you,
28 seet anih loh pekkhqi ham zoseennaak pe unawh, a nik the khanaak khqi ce cykcah pe uh.
bless those who curse you, pray for those who insult you.
29 Thlang ing na beeng lang benawh a nik beih awhtaw, ak chang ben ce duun pe bai; na hi a ni lawh peek venawh angki awm koeh hlawh na.
When someone gives one of you a blow on the cheek, offer the other cheek as well; and, when anyone takes away your cloak, do not keep back your coat either.
30 Ak thoehkhqi venawh ce pe, thlang ing na them a ni lawh peek awh koeh lat pe voel.
Give to everyone who asks of you; and, when anyone takes away what is yours, do not demand its return.
31 Thlang ing nak khanawh sai sak ham na ngaih lawt a myihna thlang ak khan awh awm sai lawt.
Do to others as you wish them to do to you.
32 “Nangmih a nik lungnaak khqi doeng nami lungnaak man, nami ham ikaw hoeihkhangnaak a awm kaw? 'Thlak thawlhkhqi ing za amah ak lungnaak taw lungna lawt uhy.
If you love only those who love you, what thanks will be due to you? Why, even the outcast love those who love them!
33 Nak khan awh them leek a saikhqi doeng a venawh them leek nami sai awhtaw, ikawnu hoeihkhangnaak a awm kaw? 'Thlak thawlhkhqi ing za cemyih ce sai lawt u saw.
For, if you show kindness only to those who show kindness to you, what thanks will be due to you? Even the outcast do that!
34 Ak sah thai hly thlang a ven doengawh them namik pu awhtaw, ikaw hoeihkhangnaak a awm kaw? 'Thlak thawlhkhqi ingawm thlak thawlhkhqi venawh pu sak lawt u saw.
If you lend only to those from whom you expect to get something, what thanks will be due to you? Even the outcast lend to the outcast in the hope of getting as much in return!
35 Cehlai nangmih ingtaw nami qaalkhqi ce lungna uh, them leek sai pe uh, huh hly tlaih kawi ngaih-u voel kaana pu law uh. Cawhtaw nangmih aham kutdo ak bau soeih awm kaw, sawsang soeih a cakhqi na awm kawm uk ti, anih ingtaw zeelnaak awi amak kqawn thaikhqi ingkaw thlak thawlhkhqi za qeen uhy.
But love your enemies, and show them kindness, and lend to them, never despairing. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the thankless and the bad.
36 Nangmih a Pa thlang qeenkhaw ak ngai na a awm lawt amyihna nangmih awm thlang qeenkhaw ngai lawt lah uh.
Learn to be merciful – even as your Father is merciful.
37 “Awideng na amna awmnaak aham, thlang awi koeh deng. Thlang thawlh koeh puk, cawhtaw thawlh puk na am awm lawt kawp ti. Qeen lah, cawhtaw qeenna awm lawt kawp ti.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Pe lah, cawhtaw peek na awm lawt kawp ti. Ak bena loeng nawh, det nawh, ak be poeng na, na phai awh ni hawk sih kaw. Nang ing na loengnaak awh ce nang aham awm loeng lawt na awm kaw,” tinak khqi hy.
Give, and others will give to you. A generous measure, pressed and shaken down, and running over, will they pour into your lap; for the standard you use will be the standard used for you.”
39 Ami venawh nyhtahawi awm kqawn pek khqi bai nawh, “Mikhyp ing myikhyp ak hqui hly thai nu? A ni pakhih na lawk-kqawng khuina am tla hly nih nawh nu?
Then, speaking in parables, Jesus said, “Can one blind person guide another? Will they not both fall into a ditch?
40 Sengcamoe ing cawngpyikung ak khan awh am awm hy, cehlai u awm cawng sak hqeet na ak awm taw cawngpyikung a myihna awm lawt kaw.
A student is not above their teacher; yet every finished student will be like their teacher.
41 “Namah a mik awhkaw myn ce ak poek kaana, ikaw hamna na koeinaa a mik awhkaw myn a dik ce na toek?
And why do you look at the speck of sawdust in someone’s eye, while you pay no attention at all to the plank of wood in your own?
42 Namah a mik awhkaw myn za amna huh awhtaw ikaw hamna na koeinaa a venawh, 'koeinaa nang, na mik awhkaw myn a dik ce lo law vang nyng,' na tinaak thai kaw? Nang thlang qaai kqawn, namah a mik awhkaw myn ce lo cang, cawh ni na mik ce ak caih na dang kawmsaw, na koeinaa a mik awhkaw myn dik ce na lawh hly peek thai.
How can you say to your friend ‘Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the plank in your own? Hypocrite! Take out the plank from your own eye first, and then you will see clearly how to take out the speck in your friend’s.
43 “Thing ak leek awh thikthaih ak che am qah khawi nawh, thik che awh thikthaih leek am qah bai hy.
There is no such thing as a good tree bearing worthless fruit, or, on the other hand, a worthless tree bearing good fruit.
44 Thing boeih taw ak thaih awh hat thai na awm hy. Hling a thing awhkawng thlang ing thai ak thaih am bit khawi nawh, hling dum awhkawng u ing misur thaih am bit khawi hy.
For every tree is known by its own fruit. People do not gather figs off thorn bushes, nor pick a bunch of grapes off a bramble.
45 Thlang leek ing ak kawlung khui awhkaw them leek ce cawn sak nawh, thlang amak leek ingawm ak kawlung khui awhkawng them amak leek ce cawn sak lawt hy. Kawlung khuiawh ak be ngen ni kha ing ak kqawn hy.
A good person, from the good stores of their heart, brings out what is good; while a bad person, from their bad stores, brings out what is bad. For what fills someone’s heart will rise to their lips.
46 “Nangmih ikaw hamna kak awi kqawn ve a sai kaana, 'Bawipa, Bawipa,' nami ni tinaak?
Why do you call me ‘Master! Master!’ and yet fail to do what I tell you?
47 Ka venawh law nawh kak awi ngai nawh ak sai ak thlang taw ikawmyihna a awm tice nim huh khqi vang nyng.
Everyone who comes to me and listens to my teaching and acts on it – I will show you to whom they may be compared.
48 Anih taw tung ak dungna co nawh, lung ak khanawh ak ling ing myih hy, tuiliu law nawh, tuih tha ing deng seiawm ap tat hy. Tung ang ling ce a cak a dawngawh im ce am tlu thai hy.
They may be compared to a person building a house, who dug, and went deep, and laid the foundation on the rock. Then, when a flood came, the river swept down on that house, but had no power to shake it, because it had been built well.
49 Kak awi ve za hlai moe amak sai thlang taw dek amak cak awh iptung ak ling ing myih hy. Tuih tung ing im ce a buuk awh tlu pahoei nawh qeeng boeih hy.
But those who have listened and not acted on what they have heard may be compared to a person who built a house on the ground without any foundation. The river swept down on it, and the house immediately collapsed; and great was the crash that followed.”
