< Luke 23 >

1 Cekcoengawh cawh ak awm thlang kqeng ce tho unawh Jesu ce Pilat a venna cehpyi uhy.
And having risen, the whole company of them led him to Pilate.
2 Amah ce thawlh puk uhy, “Ve ak thlang ing pilnam hqeh sak nawh, Kaisar a venawh mangmu ama peek aham kqawn nawh amah ingkaw amah Khrih Sangpahrang tinawh kqawn qu hy,” tina uhy.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying himself to be Christ, a king.
3 Cedawngawh Pilat ing Jesu ce doet hy, “Nang ve Judakhqi a Sangpahrang aw? tina hy. Jesu ing, “Nak kqawn amyihna awm nyng,” tina hy.
And Pilate questioned him, saying, Are thou the king of the Jews? And having answered him, he said, Thou say.
4 Cekcoengawh Pilat ing khawsoeih boeikhqi ingkaw thlang kqeng a venawh, “Ve ak thlang a thawlhnaak am hu nyng,” tinak khqi hy.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, I find nothing guilty in this man.
5 Cehlai cekkhqi ing, “Galilee awhkawng kqan nawh, ve hun dy, Judah khaw boeih awh cawngpyinawh thlang kqeng sak boeih hy,” tina uhy.
But they were emphatic, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee as far as here.
6 Ce ak awi ce ang zaak awh, Pilat ing anih ce Kalili thlang na a awm ama awm doet hy.
And when Pilate heard Galilee, he questioned if the man is a Galilean.
7 Jesu ce Herod uknaak khuiawh kaw thlang ni tice a sim awh, anih ce Herod a venna tyi hy, Herod awm Jerusalem khaw awh awm hy.
And when he perceived that he is from Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was himself also in Jerusalem in these days.
8 Herod ing Jesu ce a huh awh, zeel soeih hy, anih ce huh aham lamtoen khing hawh hy. Anih akawng ang zaaknaak awh, kawpoek kyi them a sai ce huh aham ngaih hy.
Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he was wanting of a considerable time to see him, because of hearing many things about him, and he hoped to see some sign happening by him.
9 Anih ing awi khawzah doet hy, cehlai Jesu ing khangoet awm am hlat hy.
And he interrogated him in considerable words, but he answered him nothing.
10 Khawsoeih boeikhqi ingkaw anaa awi qeekungkhqi cawh dyi unawh, thawlh buk uhy.
And the chief priests and the scholars had stood, vehemently accusing him.
11 Cawh Herod ingkaw a qalkapkhqi ing Jesu ce the a kha na unawh qaih am qin na uhy. Hi ak leek soeih soeih bai sak unawh Pilat a venna tyi tlaih uhy.
But Herod having disdained him with his soldiers, and having mocked him, having arraying him in a bright robe, he sent him back to Pilate.
12 Ce a nyn awhtaw Herod ingkaw Pilat ce qoep hy nih, ce hlan awhtaw cekqawi ce qaal na awm hy nih.
And both Pilate and Herod became friends with each other on the same day, for they were formerly being at enmity toward themselves.
13 Pilat ing khawsoeih boeikhqi, ukkungkhqi ingkaw pilnam boeih ce khy nawh,
And Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,
14 Ve ak thlang ing 'Pilnam hqeh sak hy,' ti unawh ka venna law pyi uhyk ti. Nami haiawh awi deng hawh hlai nyng. Nangmih ing thawlh namik puk amyihna kawmyih a thawlhnaak awm am hu nyng;
said to them, Ye brought this man to me as turning away the people. And behold, I, having examined him before you, found nothing guilty in this man of what ye accuse against him.
15 Herod ingawm a thawlhnaak am hu hy; cedawngawh venna tyi law tlaih hy, nangmih ing nami huh amyihna, thihnaak dy awh ikawmyih a thawlhnaak awm am sai hy.
But not even Herod, for I sent you back to him, and lo, nothing having been done by him is worthy of death.
16 Cedawngawh vyk nyng seitaw hlah mai vang nyng,” tinak khqi hy.
Therefore, having scourged I will release him.
17 Poei ak khuiawh cekkhqi aham thlang pynoet oet hlah pek aham awm hy.
Now he had need to release one man to them at every feast.
18 Cawh, Ve ak thlang ve him! Barabbas ce hlah law! Tinawh khy uhy.
But they cried out all together, saying, Take away this man, and release to us Barabbas
19 (Barabbas taw khawk bau awh qaal na tho nawh thlang a him dawngawh thawngim awh thla uhy.)
(a man who was cast into prison because of a certain insurrection that occurred in the city, and for murder).
20 Pilat ing Jesu ce hlah aham a ngaih awh cekkhqi venna awi kqawn tlaih hy.
Again therefore Pilate called out wanting to release Jesus,
21 Cehlai a mingmih ing, “Thinglam awh tai, thinglam awh tai,” tinawh khy uhy.
but they shouted, saying, Crucify, crucify him.
22 Am thumnaak awh a mingmih ce: “Ikawtih ikaw thawlhnaak nu ve ak thlang ing a sai? A thih ham kawi ikaw thawlhnaak ak khan awh am hu nyng. Cedawngawh vyk nyng seitaw hlah mai vang nyng,” tinak khqi hy.
And he said to them a third time, For what evil did this man do? I have found nothing guilty of death in him. I will therefore, having scourged, release him.
23 Cehlai anih ce thinglam awh tai aham khawteh khqoet na khy unawh, amik khy awi ing amingmih ce khuk malh hy.
But they were relentless with loud voices demanding him to be crucified. And their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed.
24 Cedawngawh Pilat ing ami thoehnaak ce qawi pekkhqi hy.
And Pilate decreed their request to happen.
25 A mingmih ing hlah aham ami thoeh, qaal na tho nawh thlang a him dawngawh thawngim awh a mik thlak Barabbas ce hlah pek khqi nawh, Jesu cetaw a mimah ak kawngaih na sai aham a mingmih a venawh pekkhqi hy.
And he released the man who had been cast into prison because of insurrection and murder, whom they asked for, but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 Anih ce cehpyi uhy, lamlak awh kqawng nakaw ak law Cyqene khaw awhkaw Simon ce tu unawh Jesu a hu awh thinglam tung ce kawh sak uhy.
And when they led him away, having taken hold of a certain Simon, a Cyrenian coming from the countryside, they laid the cross on him to bring behind Jesus.
27 Thlang khawzah ing a hu awh hquut uhy, ak kqung ak kqap nukhqi awm bat lawt uhy.
And a great multitude of the people followed him, and also of women who bewailed and lamented him.
28 Jesu ing a mingmih a ven benna mang nawh, “Jerusalem canukhqi, kai aham koeh kqang uh, na mimah ingkaw nami cakhqi ham kqang law uh.
But having turning to them, Jesus said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, instead weep for yourselves and for your children.
29 Nangmih ing, ‘Nu cak kaa khqi, pumqih amak sim khawikhqi ingkaw a suk naaca amak awk sak khawi nukhqi taw a mi zoseen hy! Nami tinaak a khawnghi ce pha law kaw.
Because, behold, the days are coming, during which they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the bellies that gave no birth, and the breasts that did not suckle.
30 Cawh, A mingmih ing tlangkhqi venawh, 'Kaimih ve nik et khqi lah!' ti kawm usaw, cungkhqi venawh, 'Kaimih ve ni hlip khqi lah!” tina kawm uh.’
Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us, and to the hills, Cover us.
31 Thlang ing thinghqing za vemyih na ami sai awhtaw thingkoh ak khqoet taw ikawmyihna nu ami sai kaw?” tinak khqi hy.
Because if they do these things in the green tree, what will happen in the dry?
32 Ak chang thlak thawlh qawi pakkhih awm thinglam awh tai aham anih ing kutoet na cehpyi uhy.
And two other men, malefactors, were also led with him to be executed.
33 Luquh ami ti hun ce ami pha awh, anih ce thinglam awh tai uhy, thlakthawlh qawi awm – pynoet ce tang benawh, pynoet ce cawngben awh tai uhy.
And when they came to the place called Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one at the right hand and the other at the left.
34 Jesu ing, “Kapa, a mingmih ak khan awh qeenkhaw ngai lah, ikaw kami sai ti am sim unawh ni,” tina hy. A hi ce taicung zyk unawh tei uhy.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. And dividing his garments, they cast a lot.
35 Thlangkhqi ing dyi unawh toek uhy, cawh ukkungkhqi ing qaih na uhy. “Thlakchang taw a hul bai, Khawsa ak tyh Khrih na a awm awhtaw amah ingkaw amah hul qu lah seh,” tina uhy.
And the people had stood watching. And also the rulers with them sneered, saying, He saved others. He should save himself, if this is the Christ, the chosen of God.
36 Qalkapkhqi awm law unawh the a kha na uhy. Misur tui ak thui ce pe uhy,
And the soldiers also mocked him, approaching, and bringing him vinegar,
37 “Juda Sangpahrang na awm awhtaw namah ingkaw namah hul qu lah thaw voeih ti,” tina uhy.
and saying, If thou are the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 “VETAW JUDA KHRIH SANGPAHRANG NI,” tinawh a sawawh ca tai pe uhy.
And there was also an inscription over him written in letters, in Greek and Latin and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Cawhkaw ami tai thlak thawlh pynoet ingawm anih ce kaa na hy, “Nang ve Khrih am aw? Namah ingkaw namah hul qu nawhtaw kainih awm ni hul qawi lah thoeih ti,” tina hy.
And one of the malefactors who were hanged railed him, saying, If thou are the Christ, save thyself and us.
40 Cehlai thlak thawlh pynoet ingtaw anih ce hlat nawh, “Khawsa awm am nak kqih nawh nu? Nang ing anih ingqawi ang amyihna awidengnaak na huh ve?
But the other man having answered, rebuking him, saying, Thou fear not even God, since thou are in the same condemnation?
41 Ningnih taw awideng kawina nik awm qoe ni; ni sai phu ni zawk qoe ni; cehlai ve ak thlang ingtaw ikawmyih a thawlhnaak awm am sai hy,” tina hy.
And we indeed justly, for we receive worthy of what we did, but this man did nothing amiss.
42 Cekcoengawh anih ing, “Jesu, na qam na pha awh kai koeh nim hilh law moe,” tina hy.
And he said to Jesus, Remember me, Lord, when thou come into thy kingdom.
43 Jesu ing avenawh, “Awitak ka nik kqawn peek, tuhngawi awh paradise awh kavenawh awm lawt kawp ti,” tina hy.
And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to thee, today thou will be with me in the paradise.
44 Khawnoek kquk tluk a law awh, khawmdek pum boeih thannaak ing ziing khoep nawh khawnoek ko dy khawthan khoep hy.
And it was about the sixth hour, and darkness occurred over the whole land until the ninth hour.
45 khawkdai qeng nawh; cawh Bawkim awhkaw hizan ce pakkhih na teek hy.
And the sun was darkened, and the curtain of the temple was torn in the middle.
46 Cawh Jesu ing khawteh na, “Kapa, na kut awh kang Myihla ni pe nyng,” tina hy. Ceamyihna ak kqawn coeng kqoeng awh ang hqi qu zip hy.
And Jesus, having sounded out in a great voice, said, Father, into thy hands I entrust my spirit. And having said these things, he expired.
47 Qalkap zakhat ak ukkung ing cawhkaw a kawnglam ce a huh awh, Khawsa ce kyihcah nawh, “Ve ak thlang ve thlakdyng pai ni,” tihy.
And when the centurion saw that which happened, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this man was righteous.
48 Cawhkaw ik-oeih ak toekna ak cun law thlangkhqi ing ce a kawnglam ce ami huh awh amik kqang pung unawh voei uhy.
And all the multitudes who came together to this scene, watching that which happened, turned back, beating their breasts.
49 Cehlai amah ak simkhqi boeih ingkaw, Kalili awhkawng a hu awh a mik bat law nukhqi ing ak hla na dyi unawh, cawhkaw ce dan uhy.
And all his acquaintances, and the women who accompanied him from Galilee, had stood from afar, seeing these things.
50 Awi tlykkung pynoet, Joseph ak mingnaak thlak leek ingkaw thlak dyng pynoet ce awm hy.
And behold a man named Joseph, a council member, being a good and righteous man
51 A mingmih ak awitlyhnaak ingkaw them ami sainaak awh anih taw ang haa am tla qoe hy. Judah qam Arimathea khaw awhkawng ak law na awm nawh Khawsa qam ak lamtoenkung na awm hy.
(this man not having consented to their purpose and deed), was from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who also himself awaited the kingdom of God.
52 Pilat a venna cet nawh, Jesu a qawk ce thoeh hy,
This man having gone to Pilate, requested the body of Jesus.
53 Cekcoengawh qawk ce lo nawh, hi ing a zawl coengawh u awm amak pupnaak hlan phyilung ak khuiawh ce soei hy.
And having taken it down, he wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulcher cut in rock, of which no man was yet lain.
54 Ce nyn taw Coekqoek Nyn na awm nawh, Sabbath kqan tawmca hawh uhy.
And the day was Preparation; sabbath was beginning.
55 Jesu ing Kalili awhkawng amik law haih nukhqi ce Joseph a hu awh bat unawh phyi ingkaw qawk ce ikawmyihna ami soei tice hu uhy.
And having followed closely, the women who were gathered to him out of Galilee, they saw the sepulcher, and how his body was laid.
56 Cekcoengawh im na cet unawh bawktui ce qoek a bah uhy. Cehlai anaa awi peek amyihna Sabbath nyn awhtaw dym uhy.
And having returned, they prepared spices and ointments. And they indeed rested on the sabbath according to the commandment.
