< Johan 18 >
1 Jesu ing ak cykcah boet coengawh, a hubatkhqi mi Kidron zawi vang benna cet uhy. Zawi vang benna olive dum awm nawh, ce ak khuina a hubatkhqi mi lut uhy.
WHEN Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
2 Ce a hun awh Jesu ing a hubatkhqi mi ami ceh khawi a dawngawh, amah thlang a kut awh ak peekung Juda ing a hun ce sim hy.
And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
3 Cedawngawh Juda ing khawsoeih boeikhqi ingkaw Farasikhqi venawh kawng qalkapkhqi ingkaw ukkung thlang vang ce dum khuina law pyi khqi hy. Cekkhqi ing maihchoei, mai-im ingkaw caikhqi ce pawm unawh law uhy.
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 A venna ak pha law hly kawi them khqi ce a sim a dawngawh, Jesu ing cet nawh cekkhqi ce doet hy, “U aw nami sui?” tinak khqi hy.
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 Cekkhqi ing, “Nazareth Jesu” tina uhy. Jesu ing, “Kai ni,” tinak khqi hy. (Cawh thlang a kut awh amah ak peekung Juda awm cawh dyi hy.
They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 Jesu ing, “Kai ni,” a tinaak khqi awh ami hu na thoeih unawh dek na khoep uhy.
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Cekcoengawh, “U aw nami sui?” tinak khqi tlaih bai hy. Cekkhqi ing, “Nazareth Jesu,” tina bai uhy.
Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8 Jesu ing, “Kai ni ni tinak khqi hawh nyng. Kai nami ni sui awhtaw vekkhqi ve ceh sak khqi,” tinak khqi hy.
Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 Nang ing nani peekkhqi pynoet awm am qeng sak nyng,” tinawh ak kqawn awi ce a soepnaak aham vemyihna tina hy.
That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
10 Cawh Simon Piter ing, ak cimca ce lo nawh, khawsoeih boei soeih a tyihzawih ang haa ce zek pe hlak hy. (Ce a tyihzawih thlang ang ming taw Malka ming na hy.
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
11 Jesu ing Piter nace, “Nak cimca ce sapang khuiawh chan; Ka Pa ing ani peek boet ce am ka aw hly nawh nu,” tina hy.
Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
12 Cawh qalkapkhqi, qalkap boeikhqi ingkaw Juda ukkungkhqi a tyihzawihkhqi ing Jesu ce tu uhy. Ami pin coengawh,
Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
13 Anna venna ceh pyi lamma uhy, anih cetaw ce a kum awh khawsoeih boei khyt na ak awm, Kaiapha a se na awm hy.
And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
14 Kaiapha cetaw, thlang khawzah thih anglakawh thlang pynoet a thih nep bet hy, tinawh Judakhqi venawh ak kqawn peekkung ceni.
Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Simon Piter ingkaw ak chang hubat pynoet ing Jesu ce a hu awh hquut hy nih. Cawhkaw hubat cetaw khawsoeih boei khyt ing sim qu hy nih, cedawngawh anih cetaw Jesu ing khawsoeih boei khyt a ipkhui kawngmana lut hy nih.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
16 Cehlai Piter cetaw vawng chawmkeng awh awm hyt hy. Ak chang hubat, khawsoeih boei khyt ing anik sim qu ce hlat law tlaih nawh, vawng chawmkeng ak qehkung nuca ing ce voem qu hy nih, cawh Piter awm vawng khuina lut lawt hy.
But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 Chawmkeng qehkung nuca ing Piter nace, “Nang awm a mingmih a venawh paa lawt hyk ti?” tina hy. Anih ing, “Kai amni,” tina hy.
Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 Khaw a ding a dawngawh, ukkungkhqi a tyihzawihkhqi ing mai tih unawh mai ce aawm uhy.
And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
19 Cawh khawsoeih boei khyt ing Jesu ce a hubatkhqi mi a cawngpyinaak akawngkhqi ce doet hy.
The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
20 Jesu ing awi hlat pe nawh, “Kai ing khawmdek a venawh a samphang na awi kqawn nyng. Judahkhqi ang cunnaak sinakawk ingkaw bawkim awh cawngpyi poepa nyng. Ang hyp na ikawk awi awm ap kqawn nyng.
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.
21 Ikaw hamna nani doet? Kai ak awih kqawn ak zakhqi ce doet thaw. Kak awikqawn ce cekkhqi ing sim u hy,” tinak khqi hy.
Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
22 Ceamyihna awi ak kqawn awh, cawhkaw ukkung thlang pynoet ing Jesu a haai awh beei hy. “Vemyihna aw khawsoeih boei khyt ak awi nam hlat peek? tina hy.
And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
23 Jesu ing, “Kak kqawn ve ama thym awhtaw, ama thymnaak ce kqawn law. Cehlai ak thym kak kqawn awhawm kawtih nanik beih? tina hy.
Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
24 Cekcoengawh Anna ing, a pin doena, khawsoeih boei khyt Kaiapha venna tyi hy.
Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
25 Simon Piter ce mai a aawm huili awh doet uhy, “Nang awm anih a hubat pynoet lawt ni my?” tina uhy. Cekkhqi venawh, “Amni”, tinak khqi hy.
And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.
26 Khawsoih boei khyt a tyihzawih thlang pynoet, Piter ing ang haa a zeek peek a tyihzawih a cakaw na ak awm ing, “Nang ve olive dum ak khuiawh ni hu zawh nyng?” tina hy.
One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
27 Cehlai Piter ing oelh tlaih bai hy, cawh aai khawng pahoei hy.
Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.
28 Cekcoengawh Judakhqi ing Kaiapha a im awhkawng Rom ukkung Pilat a im na Jesu ce ceh pyi uhy. Mymcang hiina awm nawh boei imna am lut uhy. A mi lut awhtaw am ciimcaih nawh Loentaak poei buh am ai thai kawm uh.
Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
29 Ce a dawngawh Pilat ce a mingmih a venna cet nawh doet hy, “Ikaw thawlhnaak awh nu ve ak thlang ve nami law pyi? tinak khqi hy.
Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?
30 Cekkhqi ing, “Ve ak thlang ve thawlhnaak ama taak man nang a venawh am law hly pyi unyng,” tina uhy.
They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.
31 Pilat ing, “Khyn unawh na mimah a cawngpyinaak awi amyihna awi cek uh,” tinak khqi hy. Cehlai Judakhqi ing, “Thlang him thainaak am ta unyng,” tina uhy.
Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
32 Vemyihna a awmnaak vetaw, Jesu ing ikawmyih thihnaak kawi ing a thih kaw, tinawh ak kqawn ce a soepnaak ahamni.
That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.
33 Cawh Pilat ce ipkhui na cet tlaih nawh, Jesu ce ak khy coengawh doet hy, “Nang ve Judahkhqi a sangpahrang nu? tina hy.
Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34 Jesu ing, “Namah ak poek aw nak kqawn, am awhtaw thlang ing nu kai akawng na venawh ak kqawn law?” tina hy.
Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?
35 Pilat ing, “Kai ve Juda pa na ti nawh nu? Nak thlangkhqi ingkaw na khawsoeih boeikhqi ing ni nang ve kai a venna ami haw law ka ti. Ikaw na sai hy voei? tina hy.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
36 Jesu ing, “Kai a qam taw ve khawmdek amni. Ve khawmdek qam mantaw, Judakhqi ing kai ama mim tunaak thai aham ka tyihzawihkhqi ing tu hawh kawm uh. Cehlai kai a qam taw ak chang nakaw ni,” tina hy.
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
37 “Cawhtaw nang ve sangpahrang vam haw?” tina hy. Jesu ing, “Kai ve sangpahrang na tice thym hy. Ve a ham nani awitak ak kqawn aham thang law nyng saw, khawmdek awh ka law. Uawm awitak benna ak awm ingtaw kak awi ngai hy,” tina hy.
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
38 Cawh Pilat ing, “Awitak ce ikaw nu? tina hy. Ce ak awi a doet coengawh Judakhqi venna cet tlaih nawh, “Ve ak thlang a thawlhnaak am hu nyng.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
39 Cehlai cehtaak khawnghi awh nangmih ing thawngtla pynoet oet ni hlah sak uhyk ti. ‘Juda sangpahrang’ venu ka hlah law hly?” tinak khqi hy.
But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
40 Cekkhqi ing, “Amni, anih amni! Banabas ce hlah law,” tina uhy. Banabas cetaw quk-ai thlang pynoet na awm hy.
Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
