And when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
2 A ceh khawi amyihna, Paul taw sinakawk na cet hy, Sabbath thum voei khuiawh cekkhqi mi cauk awi ce kqawn uhy,
And Paul, according to his custom, went in unto them; and for three sabbath days he reasoned with them out of the scriptures:
3 Khrih ing khuikha kyinaak hu kawmsaw thihnaak awhkawng tho tlaih kaw, tice kqawn caih pehy. “Nangmih a venawh kai ing ka nik kqawn law peek khqi Jesu ve Khrih hawh hy,” tinak khqi hy.
Declaring and insinuating that the Christ was to suffer, and to rise again from the dead; and that this is Jesus Christ, whom I preach to you.
4 Juda thlang thlang vang ing cangna unawh Paul ingkaw Sila ce bawng uhy, Khawsa ak kqih Greek thlang khawzah ingkaw nu qypawm khawzah ingawm bawng lawt uhy.
And some of them believed, and were associated to Paul and Silas; and of those that served God, and of the Gentiles a great multitude, and of noble women not a few.

But the Jews, moved with envy, and taking unto them some wicked men of the vulgar sort, and making a tumult, set the city in an uproar; and besetting Jason’s house, sought to bring them out unto the people.

And not finding them, they drew Jason and certain brethren to the rulers of the city, crying: They that set the city in an uproar, are come hither also;
7 Jason ing cekqawi ce do nawh a im awh pah sak hy. Cekqawi ing Kaisar ak awipeek oelh nih nawh, sangpahrang ak chang Jesu awm hy, tinawh kqawn hy nih,” tinawh khy uhy.
Whom Jason hath received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.

And they stirred up the people, and the rulers of the city hearing these things,
9 Jason ingkaw ak changkhqi ce ceh sak uhy.
And having taken satisfaction of Jason and of the rest, they let them go.
10 Khaw am than awhtaw koeinaakhqi ing Paul ingkaw Sila ce Berea khaw na tyi uhy. Ce a khaw ce ani pha awh Judakhqi a sinakawk na ce cet hy nih.
But the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea. Who, when they were come thither, went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 Berea khaw awhkaw thlangkhqi taw Thesalonika khaw awhkaw thlang khqing lak awh cyi khqoet uhy, a mingmih ingtaw Paul ak awih kqawn ce ak nep cana a ming ngai peek coengawh, anih ak awih kqawn ve ak thym tang hy voei nu ti unawh cauk awh ak nep cana sui uhy.
Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all eagerness, daily searching the scriptures, whether these things were so.
12 Juda thlang khawzah ing cangna unawh Greek thlak mang nunu papa khawzah ingawm cangna uhy.
And many indeed of them believed, and of honourable women that were Gentiles, and of men not a few.
13 Paul ing Berea khaw awh awithang leek kqawn hy tice Thesalonika khaw awhkaw thlangkhqi ing a ming zaak awh, ce na ce cet bai unawh thlang kqeng ce ami cuih coengawh awipungnaak sai bai uhy.
And when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was also preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, stirring up and troubling the multitude.
14 Koeinaakhqi ing Paul ce tuicunli a keng na thak pahoei uhy, Sila ingkaw Timote taw Berea khaw awh awm hy nih.
And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul, to go unto the sea; but Silas and Timothy remained there.
15 Paul ak thak thlangkhqi ing anih ce Atheni khaw na ceh pyi uhy, Sila ingkaw Timote ce a venawh law zy aham awi a yn coengawh cekkhqi ce hlat uhy.
And they that conducted Paul, brought him as far as Athens; and receiving a commandment from him to Silas and Timothy, that they should come to him with all speed, they departed.
16 Paul ing cekqawi ce Atheni khaw awh a qeh awh, khawk khui boeih myiqawl bawknaak ing be uhy tice a huh awh ak kawlung khuikha hy.
Now whilst Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred within him, seeing the city wholly given to idolatry.
17 Cedawngawh sinakawk awh Judakhqi, Khawsa ak kqih Greekkhqi mi Khawsak awi kqawnnaak ce tahy, them ami zawihnaak hun awh khaw hypoet coeng hypoet cawhkaw amik awmkhqi mi Khawsak awi kqawn qu pe uhy.
He disputed, therefore, in the synagogue with the Jews, and with them that served God, and in the marketplace, every day with them that were there.
18 Cawh Epikuria ingkaw Stoik thlakcyikhqi mi ce oelh qu uhy. Cekkhqi anglakawhkaw thlang vang ing, “Vawhkaw ak so thlang ing ve ikaw nu ti ak kqawn lawt?” tina uhy. Thlang vang tloek ing, “Qap chang nakaw khawsa akawngkhqi ni ak kqawn namih hy ve,” tina uhy. Paul ing Jesu ak awithang leek ingkaw thawh tlaihnaak akawng ak kqawn dawngawh cemyihna ce tina uhy.
And certain philosophers of the Epicureans and of the Stoics disputed with him; and some said: What is it, that this word sower would say? But others: He seemeth to be a setter forth of new gods; because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.
19 Areopaga ami ti cunnaak a hun na ceh pyi unawh a venawh, “Vawhkaw cawngpyinaak ak thai nak kqawn ve kaimih a venawh nak kqawn law hly thai nu?
And taking him, they brought him to the Areopagus, saying: May we know what this new doctrine is, which thou speakest of?
20 Awi nak kqawn ve kaimih ang zaak awhtaw lang hy, cedawngawh zaksim aham ngaih unyng,” tina uhy.
For thou bringest in certain new things to our ears. We would know therefore what these things mean.
21 Cedawngawh Athenis khaw awhkaw thlangkhqi ingkaw khinkhqi boeih awm, ami hoeng tym awh a hoei awh awikqawnaak ingkaw awi doetnaak na hawna uhy.
(Now all the Athenians, and strangers that were there, employed themselves in nothing else, but either in telling or in hearing some new thing.)
22 Areopagi cunnaak awh Paul ce dyi nawh: “Athenis thlangkhqi! Ik-oeih soepkep awh bawknaak ak thin tlawhnaak thlang na awm uhyk ti tice sim nyng.
But Paul standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious.
23 Cet nawh nangmih ing nami bawkkhqi ce ka toek lah awh, “AMSIM KHAWSA HAMNA,” tinawh nami qee ce hu nyng. Nangmih ing a sim kaana nami bawk ce ni, tuh kai ing kak kqawn law hy.
For passing by, and seeing your idols, I found an altar also, on which was written: To the unknown God. What therefore you worship, without knowing it, that I preach to you:
24 Khawmdek ingkaw ak khuiawh ak awm boeih ak saikung Khawsa ve khan ingkaw khawmdek boei na awm nawh kut ing a sai bawkim awh ak awm am ni;
God, who made the world, and all things therein; he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 them amak sai thai amyihna thlanghqing ing a sai peek ak ngoe Khawsa am ni; amah ing a soep hoei boeih a venawh hqingnaakkhqi, bibinaakkhqi ingkaw ik-oeih boeih ak pekung na awm hy.
Neither is he served with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing; seeing it is he who giveth to all life, and breath, and all things:
26 Thlanghqing ve khawmdek pum boeih awh pynoetna khawsak boeih hamna thlang phyn boeih ce sai nawh, ami ham atym ingkaw amik khawsaknaak ham khawqi khan pek khqi hy.
And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times, and the limits of their habitation.
27 Khawsa sui unawh, thoem unawh, ami huhnaak hqet thai aham anih ing lak am ni hla khqi hy.
That they should seek God, if happily they may feel after him or find him, although he be not far from every one of us:
28 Amah ak caming ni hqing, ning tat thai unawh ning plaa thai uhy; nangmih awhkaw hla ak phawh thai thlang pynoet ing awm, 'Ningnih awm a cadilkhqi na nik awm ni,' tinawh ak kqawn amyihna.
For in him we live, and move, and are; as some also of your own poets said: For we are also his offspring.
29 Cedawngawh Khawsa a cadilkhqi na ni awm hawh kawng taw, Khawsa ve thlanghqing ing sui ing aw, tangka ing aw, lung ing aw a sai myiqawl amyihna poek aham am awm hy.
Being therefore the offspring of God, we must not suppose the divinity to be like unto gold, or silver, or stone, the graving of art, and device of man.
30 Khawsa ing am ni simnaakkhqi ce nim hilh pek khqi nawh; cehlai tuawh ve qam boeih awhkaw thlang boeih zyt aham awi pek hawh hy.
And God indeed having winked at the times of this ignorance, now declareth unto men, that all should every where do penance.
31 Ikawtih, amah ing ak tyh thlang ce hawna nawh khawmdek awideng aham khawnghi ce hoep hawh hy. Thihnaak awhkawng anih ce a thawh saknaak ak caming thlang boeih a venawh vawhkaw hatnaak ce dang sak hawh hy,” tinak khqi hy.
Because he hath appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in equity, by the man whom he hath appointed; giving faith to all, by raising him up from the dead.
32 Thlak thi thawhnaak akawng a ming zaak awh, thlang vang tloek ing qaih na uhy, cehlai thlang vang ingtaw, “Ve ak awi ve ka ming ngai tlaih aham ngaih unyng,” tina uhy.
And when they had heard of the resurrection of the dead, some indeed mocked, but others said: We will hear thee again concerning this matter.

So Paul went out from among them.
34 Thlang a khoeh Paul a hu awh bat unawh ak awih kqawn ce cangna uhy. Cekhqi anglakawh Areopagi khuiawh kaw thlang pynoet Dionisia ingkaw Damari ak mingnaak nu pynoet ingkaw thlak changkhqi awm pa uhy.
But certain men adhering to him, did believe; among whom was also Dionysius, the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
