1 Cedawngawh, thlang sawhnaak ingkaw thainaak khqi, sa qunaak, thlang ytnaak, thlang theetnaak soepqep ce suut lah uh.
WHEREFORE putting far away wickedness of every kind, and all deceit, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all backbitings,
2 Naaca ak awm thai amyihna, myihla ben suktui ce ngaih lah uh, cawh ni hulnaak benawh nami taai hly thai hy,
as new-born babes desire earnestly the unadulterated milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 tuh Bawipa taw leek hy tice tan hawh uhyk ti.
if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 Thlang ingtaw hoet hlai hy Khawsa ing tyk nawh a phu ak tlo soeih na a taak ak hqing lung amah a venawh nami law hawh dawngawh,
Whom approaching, as the living stone, rejected indeed of men, but elect of God, and honourable,

ye also, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, well pleasing to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Cabu Toek lah, Zion awh lung, a kil awh ak awm a phu ak tlo soeih ce hawih nyng, u awm cawhkaw lung ce ak cangnaak taw ityk awh awm am chak kaw,” tinawh.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, “Behold, I lay in Sion a cornerstone, elect, precious, and the believer on him shall never be confounded.”
7 Tuh nangmih ak cangnaak thlangkhqi venawh vawhkaw lung ve a phu ak tlo soeih na awm hy. Cehlai amak cangnaak thlangkhqi ham taw, “im ak sakhqi ing ami qoeng lung ce a kil awhkaw lung ak khoeng soeih na awm hawh hy,”
By you therefore who believe is he honoured: but respecting the disobedient, “the stone which the builders rejected, this very stone is become the head of the corner,
8 cekcoengawh, cetaw thlang ak bah sak lung ingkaw thlang ak tluuk sak lung na awm hy,” Awi a maming ngai dawngawh bah uhy – a mingmih aham ce ce a taak peek khqi qoe na awm awm hy.
and a stone of stumbling, and rock of offence,” to those who stumble at the word, disobedient; whereunto also they were appointed.
9 Cehlai nangmih taw thannaak khuiawh kawng amah ak kawpoek kyi vangnaak ak khuiawh amah kyihcah aham ak tyh thlang, boei khawsoeih, pilnam ak ciim Khawsa ak thlangkhqi na awm uhyk ti.
But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired by purchase; that ye should publish abroad the excellencies of him, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Maa na taw Khawsak thlangkhqi na am awm hlai uhyk ti, tuh taw awm hawh uhyk ti; am qeennaak amak hu thlangkhqi na awm hlai uhyk ti, tuh taw am qeennaak ce hu hawh uhyk ti.
who in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God; who had not obtained mercy, but are now the objects of mercy.
Beloved, I exhort you, as strangers and sojourners, Abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Lawki thlangkhqi venawh ak leek khawsaknaak ing khaw sa lah uh, nangmih ce ik-oeih amak thym ak sai thlangkhqi na nik poek khqi mai seiawm, nangmih a ik-oeih leek sai ce hu kawm usaw Khawsa ing ningnih ani hqip khqi nyn awh amah ce zoeksang kawm uh.
having your conduct ornamental among the Gentiles: that, whereas they malign you as wicked doers, they may, being eye-witnesses of your good works, glorify God in the day when he visits them.
13 Bawipa awh thlang ukteem thainaak ak ta khqik kaiawh koep lah uh: saithainaak a boetnaak ak ta sangpahrang,
Be subject therefore to every human constitution for the Lord’s sake; whether to a king as the supreme magistrate;

or to governors, as sent by him for the punishment of wicked doers, but the praise of those who do well.
15 Ik-oeih leek sainaak ak caming ikaw amak sim thlak qawkhqik awi ce sit sak aham Khawsa ngaihnaak na awm hy.
For such is the will of God, that by well doing ye hold under restraint the ignorance of foolish men:

as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for wicked practices; but as being servants of God.
17 Thlang boeih ce kqihchah lah: ak cangnaak koeinaakhqi ce lungna lah, Khawsa kqih nawh, sangpahrang ce zoeksang lah.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but even to the froward.
19 Thlang ing Khawsa a sim dawngawh amak tyng khuikhanaak ce a huh awhtaw ce ak thlang ce kyih aham awm hy.
For this is gracious conduct, if for conscience towards God, any man undergo sorrows, suffering wrongfully.
20 Ik-oeih nami sai thawlh dawngawh nganbawh nami zawk mantaw ikaw hawihkhangnaak a awm kaw? Cehlai ik-oeih leek nami sai dawngawh kyinaak nami huh awh taw yh mai uh, Khawsa haiawh ce ce kyih aham awm bet hy.
For what glory would there be, if committing faults, and being buffeted, ye suffered patiently? but if, when ye behave well, yet suffer, ye bear it patiently, this is graciously accepted of God.
21 Vemyihna awm aham ni anik khy khqi hy, Khrih ing nangmih aham yh nawh nangmih ing a khawleh thuih hly kawi ce ceh law taak hawh hy.
For hereunto have ye been called, because Christ also hath suffered for you, leaving you a pattern, that ye should follow his steps;
22 Thawlhnaak am sai nawh, a hui awh qaai awi ve tehca awm am dang hy.”
who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Amak thym na ami zyih awh, anih ing am thung hy; a khuikha awh thlang am kqih am hqin hy. Ak thym na awi ak dengkung a venawh pe qu hy.
who, when reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he used no menaces; but referred himself to him who judgeth righteously:
24 Thawlh benawh ni thi unawh dyngnaak benawh ni hqingnaak aham, amah qoe qoe ing a pum awh ningnih a thawlhnaak ce thing awh yh hy; a nganbawh ngawha ing nangmih taw qoei hawh uhyk ti.
who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead unto sins, might live unto righteousness; “by whose stripes, even his, ye were healed.”
25 Tuu amyihna lam pleng hawh hlai uhyk ti, tuh awhtaw nangmih ang myihla Tuukhaikung ingkaw ak khoemkung a venawh hlat tlaih hawh uhyk ti.
For ye were as sheep wandering astray; but are now returned unto the pastor and bishop of your souls.
