< Ruth 4 >
1 Boaz te vongka la cet tih ngol. Te vaengah aka tlan koi la a thui hlang te ha pawk tih Boaz loh, “Tongmang hela pah lamtah ngol dae lah,” a ti nah. Te dongah phael tih ngol thuk.
Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by. Boaz said to him, “Come over here, friend, and sit down!” He came over, and sat down.
2 Te phoeiah khopuei kah a hamca rhoek te hlang parha a loh tih, “Hela ngol uh dae,” a ti nah vanbangla amih khaw ngol uh.
Boaz took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here,” and they sat down.
3 Te vaengah aka tlan koi taengah, “Mamih kah manuca Elimelekh khohmuen kah lo aka yoi Noami tah Moab kho lamkah ha bal coeng.
He said to the near kinsman, “Naomi, who has come back out of the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s.
4 Te dongah kai long tah namah hna ah kan yaak sak dae eh ka ti vanbangla hekah aka ngol rhoek hmai neh ka pilnam khuikah a hamca rhoek hmaiah koep lai laeh ka ti. Na tlan ham atah tlan laeh. Tedae na tlan pawt oeh atah kamah taengah he thui. Te daengah ni nang phoeiah aka tlan ham hlang a om pawt te ka ming khaw ka ming van eh. Tedae kai tah nang hnukkah pueng ni,” a ti nah vaengah, “Kamah loh ka tlan ni,” a ti.
I thought I should tell you, saying, ‘Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.’ If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you.” He said, “I will redeem it.”
5 Te vaengah Boaz loh, “Naomi neh aka duek kah a yuu Moab nu Ruth kut lamkah khohmuen na lai khohnin vaengah aka duek ming te thoh pah ham ni a rho khaw na lai eh?,” a ti nah.
Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.”
6 Tedae aka tlan loh, “Kamah loh ka tlan ham akhaw a tlan ham ka noeng moenih. Ka rho he ka porhak sak ve. Namah ham na tlan mako. Ka tlannah neh tlan ham ka noeng moenih,” a ti nah.
The near kinsman said, “I can’t redeem it for myself, lest I endanger my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can’t redeem it.”
7 Hlamat vaengah tah Israel khuikah tlannah ham neh hnothung ham ol khat khat neh ana khueng thiluh. Te vaengah hlang pakhat loh a khokhom a dul tih a hui taengla a paek te Israel khuikah ciphuemyuhnah coeng ni.
Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of formalizing transactions in Israel.
8 Te dongah aka tlan tueng loh Boaz taengah, “Namah ham lai laeh,” a ti nah tih a khokhom te a dul.
So the near kinsman said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself,” then he took off his sandal.
9 Te dongah a hamca rhoek taeng neh pilnam boeih taengah Boaz loh, “Elimelekh kah a koe boeih khaw, Kilion neh Mahlon koe boeih khaw Naomi kut lamkah ka lai coeng tila tihnin ah laipai la na om uh coeng.
Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, “You are witnesses today, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi.
10 Te dongah amah koe neh aka duek ming thoh pah ham ni Mahlon yurho, Moab nu Ruth khaw ka yuu la ka lai coeng. Te phoeiah aka duek kah a ming te a pacaboeina khui lamkah neh te hmuen vongka lamloh a muei pawt ham khaw tihnin ah laipai la na om uh coeng,” a ti nah.
Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses today.”
11 Te vaengah vongka kah pilnam boeih neh a hamca rhoek loh, “Laipai la ka om uh coeng. Na im khuila aka kun huta tah, BOEIPA loh Israel imkhui aka thoh rhoi Rakhel neh Leah bangla khueh saeh. Epharath ah thadueng la om saeh lamtah Bethlehem ah a ming om saeh.
All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which both built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.
12 Hekah hula dongah BOEIPA loh nang m'paek na tii na ngan lamloh na imkhui khaw Tamar loh Judah ham a sak Perez imkhui bangla om saeh,” a ti nauh.
Let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the offspring which Yahweh will give you by this young woman.”
13 Boaz loh Ruth te a loh tih a yuu la coeng. Ruth taengla a kun vaengah rhumpum ham khaw BOEIPA loh a paek coeng dongah capa a cun.
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and he went in to her, and Yahweh enabled her to conceive, and she bore a son.
14 Te vaengah Naomi te huta rhoek loh, “Tihnin ah nang aka tlan ham te aka pat sak pawh BOEIPA te a yoethen pai saeh. A ming khaw Israel lakli ah thang pai saeh.
The women said to Naomi, “Blessed be Yahweh, who has not left you today without a near kinsman. Let his name be famous in Israel.
15 Nang hamla na hinglu aka hlawt tih na sampok vaengah aka cangbam la om ni. Na langa loh nang n'lungnah tih anih a sak coeng. Anih pakhat he nang ham tah ca tongpa parhih lakah khaw then coeng,” a ti nauh.
He shall be to you a restorer of life and sustain you in your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”
16 Camoe te Naomi loh a loh tih a rhang dongah a poem. Te dongah anih te camoe aka poeh la om.
Naomi took the child, laid him in her bosom, and became nurse to him.
17 Imben rhoek long khaw, “Naomi ham ca tongpa om coeng,” a ti uh camoe te a ming a sak pauh. Te dongah a ming te Obed a sak pauh. Anih tah Jesse napa tih, Jesse tah David napa la om.
The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying, “A son is born to Naomi”. They named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18 Te dongah Perez a rhuirhong rhoek la Perez loh Khetsron a sak.
Now this is the history of the generations of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,
19 Khetsron loh Ram a sak tih Ram loh Amminadab a sak.
and Hezron became the father of Ram, and Ram became the father of Amminadab,
20 Amminadab loh Nahshon a sak tih Nahshon loh Salmon a sak.
and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon became the father of Salmon,
21 Salmon loh Boaz a sak tih Boaz loh Obed a sak.
and Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed,
22 Obed loh Jesse a sak tih Jesse loh David a sak.
and Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.
