1 Aka mawt ham David kah Tingtoenglung Aw BOEIPA, mevaeng hil nim kai nan hnilh yoeyah ve? Mevaeng hil nim na maelhmai te kai taeng lamkah na thuh ve?

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2 Mevaeng hil nim ka thinko kah hnin takuem kothae la ka hinglu he cilsuep ka dul hawl ve? Mevaeng hil nim kai sokah ka thunkha loh caemthang a rhuk ve?

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, [having] sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3 Aw ka BOEIPA Pathen paelki lamtah kai he n'doo dae. Ka mik mah han tueng sak dueknah khuila ka ip ve.

Consider [and] hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death;

4 Ka thunkha loh, “Anih ka na coeng,” a ti vetih ka bung vaengah ka rhal rhoek te omngaih uh ve.

Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; [and] those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5 Tedae kai tah nang kah sitlohnah dongah ka pangtung tih namah kah khangnah dongah ka lungbuei omngaih.

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 BOEIPA te kai ham a then dongah ka hlai ni.

I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
