1 David kah Tangtlaeng Laa Israel loh, “Mamih ham BOEIPA te om pawt koinih,” ti laeh saeh.

A Song of degrees of David. If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 Hlang loh mamih taengah a tlai vaengah mamih ham BOEIPA om pawt koinih;

If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Mamih taengah a thintoek neh a sai vaengah mamih he a hingsai n'dolh uh ni.

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Tui loh mamih n'yo vetih soklong loh mamih hinglu he a kawt pawn ni.

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Lungpok tui loh mamih kah hinglu a et ni.

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Amih no dongah maeh la mamih aka tloeng pawh BOEIPA te a yoethen pai saeh.

Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath not given us [as] a prey to their teeth.

7 Mamih kah hinglu tah vaa bangla pael neh a hlaeh khui lamloh loeih. Pael te rhek tih mamih n'loeih uh.

Our soul hath escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare [is] broken, and we have escaped.

8 Vaan neh diklai aka saii BOEIPA ming dongah mamih bomkung om.

Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
