1 A sitlohnah tah kumhal hil ham a then dongah BOEIPA te uem uh lah.
BOOK FIFTH: Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for unto eternity endureth his kindness.
2 Rhal kut lamkah a tlan hlang loh BOEIPA kah a tlan te thui saeh.
Thus let the Lord's redeemed say, even those whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
3 Te vaengah amih te khocuk, khotlak, tlangpuei, tuitunli, khohmuen amkah a coi.
And whom he hath gathered out of the [various] lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the sea.
4 Khosoek khopong ah khopuei tolrhum longpuei a hmuh uh mueh la kho a hmanguh.
They wandered about in the wilderness, in the desert path; they could not find an inhabited city:
5 Bungpong neh tuihalh la a khuiah a hinglu te rhae.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul within them fainted.
6 Kho a bing vaengah BOEIPA te a khue uh tih khobing khui lamkah amih te a huul.
Then they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, [and] out of their afflictions he delivered them.
7 Te dongah amih te tolrhum khopuei la caeh ham a thuem longpuei neh a hoihaeng.
And he led them forth on the right way, that they might go to an inhabited city.
8 Hlang koca rhoek ham a sitlohnah neh khobaerhambae aka sai BOEIPA te uem uh pai saeh.
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
9 A hinglu aka halthi te tuihalh a dip pah sak tih a hinglu aka pongnaeng te khaw hnothen a cung sak.
For he satisfied the longing soul, and the hungry soul he filled with good.—
10 Hlangvang tah khohmuep neh dueknah hlipkhup kah thirhui neh phacipphabaem la aka ngol thongtla la coenguh.
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in misery and [fetters of] iron; —
11 Pathen kah olka te a koek uh tih Khohni kah oluen khaw a tlaitlaek uh.
Because they have rebelled against the words of God, and have contemned the counsel of the Most High;
12 Te dongah thakthaenah dongla a kunyun sak tih a lungbuei a toh uh vaengah bom pawh.
And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help;
13 Tedae kho a bing uh vaengah BOEIPA taengla pang uh tih amih te khobing khui lamkah koep a khang.
But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions;
14 Amih te khohmuep neh dueknah hlipkhup lamkah a poh tih a kuelrhui khaw a bawt pah.
He bringeth them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and teareth their bands asunder.
15 Hlang koca rhoek ham a sitlohnah neh khobaerhambae aka sai BOEIPA te uem uh pai saeh.
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
16 Rhohum thohkhaih te a phil tih thicung thohkalh khaw a tloek.
For he hath broken the doors of copper, and the bolts of iron hath he hewn asunder.—
17 Amih tah boekoek longpuei kah hlang ang neh amamih kathaesainah dongah phaep uh.
Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 A hinglu loh caak boeih a tuei pah uh tih dueknah vongka te a paan uh.
All manner of food their soul abhorreth; and they draw near unto the gates of death;
19 Kho a bing vaengah BOEIPA taengah pang uh tih amih te khobing khui lamkah a khang.
But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions.
20 A ol a hlah phoeiah amih a hoeih sak tih amih rhomhmop te a poeng a hal sak.
He sendeth his word and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
21 Hlang koca rhoek ham a sitlohnah neh khobaerhambae aka sai BOEIPA te uem uh pai saeh.
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
22 Te dongah uemonah hmueih te nawn uh saeh lamtah tamlung neh a bibi te doek uh saeh.
They shall also sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and relate his deeds with joyful song.—
23 Sangpho neh tuitunli ah suntla uh tih tui puei ah bitat aka saii rhoek loh,
They who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; —
24 BOEIPA kah bibi neh a laedil kah khobaerhambae te a hmuh uh.
These have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders on the deep.
25 A voek vaengah hlipuei khohli thoo tih tuilae khaw samboek.
For he spoke, and he raised the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.
26 Vaan la luei uh tih tuidung la a suntlak uh vaengah a hinglu tah yoethaenah neh paci uh.
They would mount up to heaven, they would go down to the depths: their soul was melted because of their danger.
27 Yurhui bangla lam uh tih a yoka dongah a cueihnah boeih hma uh.
They would reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom was exhausted.
28 Kho a bing vaengah BOEIPA taengla pang uh tih amih te khobing khui lamkah a poh.
And they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, and he brought them out of their afflictions.
29 Hlipuei te bidip la a duem sak tih tuiphu rhoek khaw ngam uh.
He calmed the storm into a whisper, and stilled were the waves of the sea.
30 Tuiphu a sap vaengah a kohoe uh tih amamih kah a naepnah langdai la a mawt.
And they were rejoiced because they were silent: and then he guided them unto their desired haven.
31 Hlang koca rhoek ham a sitlohnah neh khobaerhambae aka sai BOEIPA te uem uh pai saeh.
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
32 Te dongah pilnam hlangping lakliah amah te pomsang uh saeh lamtah patong rhoek kah tolrhum ah thangthen uh saeh.
And they must exalt him in the congregation of the people, and in the assembly of the elders must they praise him.—
33 Tuiva te khosoek la, tuiphuet tui khaw tuihang la a khueh.
He changeth rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into parched ground;
34 Cangthen kho khaw boethae loh kho a sak thil dongah lungkaehlai la,
A fruitful land into a salty waste, for the wickedness of those that dwell therein.
35 khosoek te tuibap tui la, rhamrhae lai khaw tuiphuet tui la a khueh.
He changeth the wilderness into a pool of water, and desert land into water-springs.
36 Teah te bungpong rhoek kho a sak sak tih tolrhum khopuei a thong uh.
And there he causeth to dwell the hungry, that they may found an inhabited city;
37 Te vaengah khohmuen a tawn uh tih misur a tue dongah a vuei a thaih cuen.
And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, that they may yield the fruits of the [annual] product.
38 Amih te yoethen a paek tih muep a ping uh vaengah a rhamsa khaw polpai sak pawh.
He also blesseth them, and they multiply greatly, and he suffereth not their cattle to diminish.
39 Tedae a polpai uh vaengah caya yoethae neh kothae dongah ngam uh sut.
They were also diminished and bowed low through oppression, misfortune, and sorrow:
40 Hlangcong rhoek te nueihbu a hawk thil tih long mueng hinghong la kho a hmang sak.
He [then] poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in a pathless wilderness.
41 Tedae khodaeng te phacipphabaem lamkah a hoeptlang tih a hui a ko te boiva bangla a khueh.
And he exalteth the needy from misery, and maketh [his] families like flocks.
42 Aka thuem rhoek loh a hmuh uh vaengah a kohoe uh dae dumlai boeih long tah a ka khoep a buem.
The righteous shall see it, and rejoice; but all wickedness shall stop her mouth.
43 U khaw aka cueih long tah hekah he kuem saeh lamtah BOEIPA kah sitlohnah te yakming uh saeh.
Whoever is wise, let him observe these things, and let [all] understand the kindness of the Lord.
