1 Ka ca aw, ka cueihnah he hnatung lamtah ka lungcuei dongla na hna kaeng lah.
My son, attend to my wisdom, and bow thy ear to my understanding:
2 Thuepnah neh mingnah te ngaithuen hamla na hmuilai long khaw tuem uh saeh.
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 Rhalawt nu kah a hmuilai ah khoilitui cip tih a lai khaw situi lakah hnal.
For the lips of an adulteress drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 Tedae hmailong ah tah anih te pantong bangla khahing tih cunghang paihat bangla haat.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 Hingnah caehlong lakah a ming pawh a namtlak likloek te saelh ve ne.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are unstable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Te dongah ka ca rhoek kai ol he hnatun uh laeh, ka ka dongkah olthui te nong tak boeh.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not near the door of her house:

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 Na hmailong ah na nguek vetih na pum na saa khaw hmawn hae ni.
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 Te vaengah, “Thuituennah te ka hmuhuet tih toelthamnah khaw ka lungbuei loh a tlaitlaek pai.
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 Ka saya ol te ka hnatun pawh kai aka cang puei taengah khaw ka hna ka kaeng pawh.
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me!
14 Hlangping neh rhaengpuei lakli kah boethae sumsiit te vat ka pha,” na ti hae ni
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

Drink waters out of thy own cistern, and running waters out of thy own well.

Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Nang namah bueng hamla om saeh lamtah na taengkah kholong ham boel saeh.
Let them be only thy own, and not for strangers with thee.
18 Na thunsih te yoethen la om saeh lamtah na camoe kah na yuu dongah kohoe sak.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Anih tah sayuk rhuinu lunguem bangla, a sukbam te sakhi rhuinu mikdaithen bangla a tuetang boeih ah nang te m'hmilhmal sak saeh lamtah a lungnah loh m'palang sak yoeyah saeh.
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 Ba ham lae ka ca loh rhalawt la na palang vetih kholong kah a rhang te na kop eh.
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with an adulteress, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 Halang te amah kathaesainah loh amah te a tuuk tih a tholhnah rhui loh a ban.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.
23 Anih thuituennah a om pawt dongah duek vetih a anglat aih dongah palang ni.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
