< Nehemiah 6 >
1 Vongtung ka sak uh te Sanballat, Tobiah, Arab Geshem neh kaimih thunkha coihpaih loh a yaak. Te vaengah a khuikah a puut tah hmaai voel pawt dae te vaeng tue hil vongka ah thohkhaih ka buen hlan.
Now it happened that, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem, an Arab, and our other enemies, had heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no interruption remaining in it, (even though, at that time, I had not set up the double doors at the gates, )
2 Te dongah Sanballat neh Geshem loh kai taengla ol han tah tih, “Ha lo lamtah Ono kolbawn kah sathuengca ah tuentah uh rhoi sih,” a ti. Tedae amih te kai taengah boethae huet hamla cai uh.
Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying: “Come, and let us strike a pact together in the villages, on the plain of Ono.” But they were thinking that they would do me harm.
3 Amih rhoi taengla puencawn rhoek te ka tueih tih, “Bibi tung he ka saii dongah suntlak ham ka coeng moenih. Balae tih bitat he ka toeng eh? Te te ka hlong vetih nang taengla ka suntla aya?
Therefore, I sent messengers to them, saying: “I am doing a great work, and I cannot descend, lest perhaps it may be neglected when I go out and descend to you.”
4 He ol he kai taengla voei li ham pat uh coeng dae amih te he tlam ni ol ka mael.
Then they sent to me, with this same word, four times. And I responded to them with the same word as before.
5 A voei nga nah dongah khaw he kah ol bangla Sanballat loh kai taengla a taengca kut neh ham pat dae ca te a kut dongah a ong coeng.
And Sanballat sent his servant to me a fifth time, with the former word, and he had a letter in his hand written in this manner:
6 A khuikah a daek te namtom lakli neh Geshem te a yaak sak tih, “Nang neh Judah rhoek hlang tah tloelh ham ka moeh eh na ti rhoi. He dongah ni nang loh vongtung he na tlaih. Nang te he kah ol bangla amih taengah manghai la na om la te.
“It has been heard among the Gentiles, and Geshem has said it, that you and the Jews are planning to rebel, and because of this, you are building the wall and thinking to raise yourself as a king over them. For this reason,
7 Tonghma rhoek pataeng Jerusalem ah nang kawng aka doek la, Judah ah manghai om tih he ol bangla manghai taengah yaak sak pawn saeh, halo lamtah tun dawt uh thae pawn sih,’ aka ti hamla na pai sak,”.
you also have stationed prophets, who preach about you in Jerusalem, saying: ‘There is a king in Judea!’ But the king will hear about these words. Therefore, come now, so that we may go to counsel together.”
8 Te vaengah anih te ol ka pat tih, “Na thui ol bang he a om noek moenih. Tedae te te na lungbuei lamkah na thainawn,” ka ti nah.
And I sent to them, saying: “There has been nothing done according to these words, which you have spoken. For you are inventing these things from your own heart.”
9 A pum la kaimih n'hih uh tih, “Bibi dongah a kut kha uh vetih saii uh mahpawh,” ti mai cakhaw ka kut he ham moem laeh.
For all these men wished to frighten us, thinking that our hands would cease from the work, and that we would cease. For this reason, I strengthened my hands all the more.
10 Te phoeiah kamah te Mehetabel koca, Delaiah capa Shemaiah im la ka pawk. Te vaengah anih te ying tih, “Bawkim khui kah Pathen im ah hum uh rhoi sih. Nang aka ngawn ham te ha pawk dongah bawkim thohkhaih te khai sih. Khoyin ah khaw nang aka ngawn ham hlang te ha pawk,” a ti.
And I entered into the house of Shemaiah, the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, in secret. And he said: “Let us consult together in the house of God, in the midst of the temple. And let us close the doors of the temple. For they will come to kill you, and they will arrive in the night to put you to death.”
11 Tedae, “Kai bang hlang he yong a? Kai bang he unim bawkim khuila kun vetih a hing eh? Ka kun mahpawh,” ka ti nah.
And I said: “How could anyone like me flee? And who like me should enter the temple, so that he may live? I will not enter.”
12 Te vaengah Pathen loh anih tueih pawt la he tila ka hmat. Tedae anih te Tobiah neh Sanballat loh a paang dongah ni kai taengah tonghma ol a thui.
And I understood that God had not sent him, but he had spoken to me as if he were prophesying, and that Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
13 Kai hih tih he tla ka saii vaengah kai tholh sak ham neh amih taengah ming thae la om sak ham anih te a paang tangloeng, kai he m'veet uh tangloeng.
For he had accepted money, so that I would be afraid, and would sin, and so that they would have some evil with which to rebuke me.
14 Ka Pathen aw, Tobiah taeng neh Sanballat taengah khaw, tonghmanu Noadiah taeng neh tonghma a noi rhoek taengah kaw, a khoboe bangla thoelh pah. Amih te kai aka hih rhoek ni.
Remember me, O Lord, because of Tobiah and Sanballat, because of their works of this kind. Then, too, Noadiah, a prophetess, and the rest of the prophets, would have made me afraid.
15 Te cakhaw Elul pakul panga kah sawmnga neh hnin nit vaengah tah vongtung a khah uh.
Now the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth day of the month of Elul, in fifty-two days.
16 Ka thunkha boeih loh a yaak uh tih kaimih kaep kah namtom boeih loh a rhih dongah a maelhmai rhep a buenglueng uh. Bitat a saii he kaimih kah Pathen taeng lamkah ni tila a ming uh.
Then it happened that, when all our enemies had heard of it, all the nations that were around us were afraid, and they were downcast within themselves. For they knew that this work had been accomplished by God.
17 Te vaeng khohnin ah Judah hlangcoelh rhoek loh amih ca te Tobiah taengla muep a pha sak tih Tobiah taeng lamkah te khaw amih taengla cet.
But also, in those days, many letters were being sent by the nobles of the Jews to Tobiah, and were arriving from Tobiah to them.
18 Arah capa Shekaniah loh Tobiah a cava nah tih a capa Jehohanan long khaw Berekiah capa Meshullam canu te a loh dongah Judah kah boei rhoek khaw anih taengah olhlo neh muep omuh.
For there were many in Judea who had sworn an oath to him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah, the son of Arah, and because Jehohanan, his son, had married the daughter of Meshullam, the son of Berechiah.
19 Ka mikhmuh ah a then aka thui khaw om uh tih a taengla kai ol aka thak khaw om uh. Tobiah long khaw kai hih hamla ca ham pat.
Moreover, they praised him before me, and they reported my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters, so that he might make me afraid.
