1 Tevaeng tue ah Jesuh kah olthang te khoboei Herod loh a yaak.
At the time Herod the Tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus.
2 Te dongah a taengom rhoek taengah, “Anih te tuinuem Johan coeng ni. Anih ni duek lamloh aka thoo coeng. Te dongah ni thaomnah loh anih pum dongah a tueng coeng,” a ti nah.
And he said to his servants: This is John the Baptist: he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works shew forth themselves in him.
3 Herod a loh a maya Philip kah yuu rho Herodias kongah Johan te a tuuk, a khih tih thongim ah a khueh.
For Herod had apprehended John and bound him, and put him into prison, because of Herodias, his brother’s wife.
4 Johan loh anih te, “Herodias namah ham na khueh tueng pawh,” a ti nah.
For John said to him: It is not lawful for thee to have her.
5 Johan te ngawn a ngaih dae Johan te tonghma la a khueh uh dongah hlangping te a rhih.
And having a mind to put him to death, he feared the people: because they esteemed him as a prophet.
6 Tedae Herod kah cunnah a pha vaengah, Herodias canu tah amih lakli ah lam tih Herod te a kohoe.
But on Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced before them: and pleased Herod.
7 Te dongah huta kah a bih te tah paek ham olhlo neh a phong.
Whereupon he promised with an oath, to give her whatsoever she would ask of him.
8 Tedae a manu kah caemtuh dongah, “Tuinuem Johan kah a lu te baelpuei dongah kai m'pae,” a ti nah.
But she being instructed before by her mother, said: Give me here in a dish the head of John the Baptist.
9 Manghai loh a kothae dae a olhlo neh, aka ngol rhoek kongah paek hamla ol a paek.
And the king was struck sad: yet because of his oath, and for them that sat with him at table, he commanded it to be given.
10 Te dongah hlang a tueih tih Johan te thongim khuiah a rhaih.
And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
11 Te phoeiah a lu te baelpuei dongah han khuen tih hula te a paek. Te phoeiah a manu taengla a khuen.
And his head was brought in a dish: and it was given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.
12 Te phoeiah a hnukbang rhoek loh a paan uh tih rhok te a khuen uh. A up uh phoeiah tah Jesuh taengla pawk uh tih puen uh.
And his disciples came and took the body, and buried it, and came and told Jesus.
13 Jesuh loh a yaak vaengah, te lamloh amah bueng khosoek hmuen la lawng neh cet. Tedae hlangping loh a yaak vaengah khopuei tom lamloh kho neh a vai uh.
Which when Jesus had heard, he retired from thence by boat, into a desert place apart, and the multitudes having heard of it, followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 A caeh vaengah hlangping muep a hmuh hatah amih ham a thinphat tih amih kah tloh te a hoeih sak.
And he coming forth saw a great multitude, and had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15 Hlaem a pha vaengah a hnukbang rhoek loh a taengla a paan uh tih, “He hmuen he khosoek la om tih a tue khaw khum coeng. Hlangping rhoek he ka tueih uh mai eh, te daengah ni kho khuila cet uh vetih amamih ham caak a lai uh eh,” a ti nah.
And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying: This is a desert place, and the hour is now past: send away the multitudes, that going into the towns, they may buy themselves victuals.
16 Tedae Jesuh loh, “Amih caeh ham a ngoe pawh. Namamih loh amih kah a caak ham te pae uh,” a ti nah.
But Jesus said to them, They have no need to go: give you them to eat.
17 Tedae te rhoek loh, “Vaidam panga neh nga lungnit pawt koinih a tloe ka khueh uh moenih he,” a ti uh.
They answered him: We have not here, but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 Tedae, “Te rhoek te kai taengla han khuen uh,” a ti nah.
He said to them: Bring them hither to me.
19 Te phoeiah hlangping rhoek te khopol dongah ngolhlung ham ol a paek. Vaidam panga neh nga panit te a loh. Vaan la oeloe tih a uem phoeiah vaidam te a aeh tih hnukbang rhoek a paek. Te phoeiah hnukbang rhoek loh hlangping te a paek.
And when he had commanded the multitudes to sit down upon the grass, he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
20 Hlang boeih loh a caak uh tih hah uh. Te phoeiah a coih, a nuei a pil te voh hlainit dongah a bae la a phueih uh.
And they did all eat, and were filled. And they took up what remained, twelve full baskets of fragments.
21 Huta rhoek neh camoe rhoek thui kolla aka ca rhoek he tongpa thawngnga tluk lo uh.
And the number of them that did eat, was five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Hlangping te phang a tueih hlanah hnukbang rhoek te lawng khuila kun ham tlek a tanolh tih rhalvangan la a lamhma sak.
And forthwith Jesus obliged his disciples to go up into the boat, and to go before him over the water, till he dismissed the people.
23 Tedae hlangping te a hlah phoeiah amah bueng thangthui hamla tlang la luei. Hlaem a pha vaengah amah bueng pahoi om.
And having dismissed the multitude, he went into a mountain alone to pray. And when it was evening, he was there alone.
24 Lawng tah lan lamloh phalong muep a pha coeng. Te vaengah hli oel om tih tuiphu loh a hinghuen.
But the boat in the midst of the sea was tossed with the waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 Jesuh tah khoyin bangli ah, tui soah cet tih amih taengla pawk.
And in the fourth watch of the night, he came to them walking upon the sea.
26 Amah tuili soah a caeh te a hnukbang rhoek loh a hmuh uh vaengah thuen uh tih, “Mueihla ni,” a ti uh tih rhihnah neh pang uh.
And they seeing him walk upon the sea, were troubled, saying: It is an apparition. And they cried out for fear.
27 Jesuh loh amih te tlek a voek tih, “Na ngaimong sak uh, kai ni, rhih uh boeh,” a ti nah.
And immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying: Be of good heart: it is I, fear ye not.
28 Peter loh a doo tih, “Boeipa nang na om atah, nang taengla tui so longah ka pawk na ham kai he ol m'pae lah,” a ti nah.
And Peter making answer, said: Lord, if it be thou, bid me come to thee upon the waters.
29 Te dongah, “Ha lo,” a ti nah. Peter tah lawng khui lamloh rhum tih tui soah a caeh daengah Jesuh taengla a pha.
And he said: Come. And Peter going down out of the boat, walked upon the water to come to Jesus.
30 Tedae khohli a tloh te a hmuh vaengah a rhih tih dalh buek. Te vaengah pang tih, “Boeipa kai n'khang lah,” a ti nah.
But seeing the wind strong, he was afraid: and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying: Lord, save me.
31 Jesuh loh a kut tlek a yueng tih a tuuk phoeiah Peter te, “Uepvawt aw, balae tih na uepvawt?” a ti nah.
And immediately Jesus stretching forth his hand took hold of him, and said to him: O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?
32 Lawng dongah amih rhoi a yoeng rhoi vaengah khohli te dip.
And when they were come up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Te vaengah lawng dongkah rhoek loh Jesuh te a bawk uh tih, “Pathen Capa la na om tangtang,” a ti na uh.
And they that were in the boat came and adored him, saying: Indeed thou art the Son of God.
34 A hlaikan uh vaengah Gennesaret kho la pawk uh.
And having passed the water, they came into the country of Genesar.
35 Te hmuen kah hlang rhoek loh amah te a hmat uh dongah te rhoek pingpang tom ah a tueih uh. Te dongah tloh aka kaem boeih te anih taengla a khuen uh.
And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent into all that country, and brought to him all that were diseased.
36 Te vaengah a himbai dongkah salaw taek dawk ham te anih a hloep uh. Te dongah aka taek rhoek tah boeih hoeih uh.
And they besought him that they might touch but the hem of his garment. And as many as touched, were made whole.
