< Luka 1 >

1 Mamih taengah aka soep tangtae hno kah cilol te muep a thuep tih boelrhai vaengah,
Whereas many have undertaken to compose a narrative of the things, which have been fully certified among us;
2 oltak kah tueihyoeih la aka om rhoek neh a tongcuek lamloh loh aka hmu rhep rhoek loh mamih taengah m'paek uh vanbangla,
as they delivered them to us, who were from the beginning eye-witnesses of them, and ministers of the word;
3 kai khaw khaeh khaeh boeih ka thuep koep tih hlangcong Theophilu nang taengah daek ham tluep ka poek.
it seemed good to me also, having thoroughly traced them all from the very first, to write an account of them in order to thee,
4 Te daengah ni hiluepnah ol loh n'thuituen te khaw na ming eh.
most excellent Theophilus, that thou mayst know the certainty of the things wherein thou hast been instructed.
5 Judea manghai Herod tue vaeng ah, Abijah rhoihui khosoih pakhat, a ming ah Zekhariah te om tih Elizabeth aka ming nah Aaron canu te a yuu nah.
There was in the days of Herod king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the family of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 Pathen hmaiah a dueng la bok om rhoi. Boeipa kah rhilam neh olpaek cungkuem dongah cuemthuek la pongpa rhoi.
And they were both righteous in the sight of God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 Tedae Elizabeth tah cakol la om tih camoe a om kolla a kum khaw patong la bok om rhoi coeng.
And they had no child, for Elisabeth was barren; and they were both far advanced in years.
8 Pathen hmaiah a khosoih vaengkah bangla anih rhoihui te aitlaeng loh a pha.
And it came to pass, while he was in the order of his course performing the priest's office before God,
9 Khosoih kah khosing bangla, Boeipa kah bawkim khuiah kun tih hmueihphum ham a yo.
according to the custom of dividing the office of the priests, that it fell to his lot to burn incense, entring into the temple of the Lord:
10 Bo-ul tue vaengah pilnam khuikah aka om rhaengpuei boeih khaw poeng ah thangthui uh.
and all the people were praying without at the time of offering incense.
11 Te vaengah Boeipa kah puencawn tah a taengah a phoe pah tih bo-ul hmueihtuk kah bantang ah pai.
And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right hand of the altar of incense.

And when Zacharias saw him, he was startled and struck with fear:

but the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias; for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John:

and many of the children of Israel shall he convert unto the Lord their God.

And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed.
18 Te phoeiah Zekhariah loh puencawn taengah, “Hekah he Ba nen lae ka ming eh? Kai tah patong la ka om coeng tih ka yuu khaw a kum te ham coeng,” a ti nah.
And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years.
19 Te dongah puencawn loh anih te a doo tih, “Kai tah Pathen hmaiah aka pai Gabriel ni, nang taengah he rhoek he phong ham neh thui ham n'tueih.
And the angel answering said to him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and I am sent to speak to thee, and to tell thee this good news:
20 Tedae kai ol te na tangnah pawt dongah he he a soep nah khohnin duela olmueh la na om vetih na cal thai mahpawh ne. Amah tue ah ka ol te soep bit ni,” a ti nah.
and now shalt thou be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass; because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled at their season.
21 Te vaengah Zekhariah te aka lamso pilnam a om dongah bawkim khuiah a di te a ngaihmang uh.
And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and wondered at his staying so long in the temple:

and as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
24 Te khohnin phoeiah a yuu Elizabeth te vawn tih amah khaw hla nga thuh uh.
And after these days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and retired five months,

28 Te phoeiah huta taengla kun tih, “A lungvat tangtae aw, omngaih lah, Boeipa tah nang taengah om pai,” a ti nah.
And when the angel came in to the room to her, he said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured; the Lord is with thee;

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God:

34 Te vaengah Mary loh puencawn taengah, “Hekah he metlam a om eh? tongpa khaw ka ming moenih,” a ti nah.
Then said Mary to the angel, How can this be, since I am a virgin?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee, and therefore thine holy offspring shall be called the Son of God: and lo,

for nothing is impossible with God.
38 Te dongah Mary loh, “Boeipa kah salnu he, na olka bangla kai taengah om saeh,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah puencawn tah anih taeng lamloh nong.
Then Mary said, Behold the servant of the Lord, may it be unto me according to thy word. So the angel departed from her.

Then Mary arose and went with speed into the hill-country, to a city of Juda,

and blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of the things that were told her from the Lord.

And Mary said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour;
