< Luka 18 >
1 Thangthui yoeyah ham neh thathae pawt ham a kuek soah amih te nuettahnah neh a voek tih,
Then Jesus told them a parable about the need to pray at all times and not lose heart.
2 Kho pakhat ah laitloekkung pakhat om tih Pathen taengah birhih pawt tih hlang taengah a yahnah om pawh.
He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man.
3 Te vaengah kho khuiah aka om nuhmai loh anih te a paan tih, 'Ka kocaelh hmaiah kai n'tang sak,’ a ti nah.
There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
4 Tedae te khohnin ham ngaih pawh. Te phoeah amah te, 'Pathen taengah ka birhih pawt tih hlang te ka yahnah mai ngawn pawh.
For a while he would not do so, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man,
5 Te akhaw he nuhmai he kamah thakthaenah la n'toeh dongah anih ka tang sak eh. Te daengah ni a bawtnah la pawk vetih kai n'ngae pawt eh?,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not wear me out by continually coming to me.’”
6 Te phoeiah Boeipa loh, “Laitloekkung loh a boethae kah a cal te ya uh.
Then the Lord said, “Consider what this unrighteous judge said.
7 A taengah khoyin khothaih aka pang, a coelh hlang kah kutthungnah te Pathen loh a saii mueh moenih. Te dongah amih taengah a thinsen a?
If even he ultimately rendered a just decision, will not God patiently listen to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night, and give them justice?
8 Nangmih taengah ka thui te, amih kah kutthungnah te thamaa la a saii ni ta. Tedae hlang capa ha pawk vaengah tangnah he diklai hmanah a hmuh venim?” a ti nah.
I tell you that he will bring about justice for them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
9 A dueng la om ham amah neh amah pangtung tih a tloe aka hnaelcoe hlangvang rhoek te khaw hekah nuettahnah neh,
He also told this parable to some who were confident in their own righteous and regarded others with contempt:
10 “Hlang panit tah thangthui ham bawkim la cet rhoi. Pakhat tah Pharisee tih pakhat te mangmu aka coi ni.
“Two men went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
11 Pharisee tah amah la pai tih, “Hlang tloe kutveet aka khueh, halang rhoek, samphaih rhoek, neh he kah mangmucoi bangla ka om pawt dongah Pathen nang he kan uem,
The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed like this: ‘God, I thank yoʋ that I am not like other people: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 Sabbath te hnavoei ka yaeh, ka kaelh boeih te parha pakhat la vawpvawp ka paek, 'tila thangthui.
I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I get.’
13 Tedae mangmucoi tah soei pai tih mik pataeng vaan la a dai ngaih pawh. A lungkoe te a tum tih, 'Pathen aw, ka tholh he han dawth lah,’ a ti.
But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
14 Nangmih taengah ka thui, anih he pakhat lakah aka tang ngai la a im te a paan. Te dongah amah neh amah aka pomsang boeih tah a tlarhoel sak ni. Tedae amah neh amah aka yalh tah a pomsang ni,” a ti nah.
I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other one. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 Te vaengah cahni rhoek te taek van saeh tila amah taengla a bawnhlak uh. Tedae hnukbang rhoek loh a hmuh vaengah amih te a tlung uh.
Now people were even bringing their babies to Jesus so that he might touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked those who were bringing them,
16 Tedae Jesuh loh amih a khue tih, “Camoe rhoek te kamah taengla ha pawk ham han hlah uh, amih te kang uh boeh. Amih ham ni Pathen kah ram a om.
but Jesus called for them and said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 Nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, Pathen kah ram te camoe bangla aka doe pawt long tah a khuiah kun loengloeng mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will certainly not enter it.”
18 Jesuh te boei pakhat loh a dawt tih, “Saya then, mebang ka saii nen lae dungyan hingnah ka pang eh?” a ti nah. (aiōnios )
Then a certain ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (aiōnios )
19 Te dongah anih te Jesuh loh, “Balae tih kai he then na ti? Pathen amah bueng pawt atah aka then a om moenih.
Jesus said to him, “Why do yoʋ call me good? No one is good except God alone.
20 Olpaek rhoek te na ming coeng, samphaih boeh, hlang ngawn boeh, huen boeh, laithae boeh, na pa neh na nu te hinyah,” a ti nah.
Yoʋ know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not give false testimony, Honor yoʋr father and yoʋr mother.’”
21 Tedae te long te, “Te rhoek te ka camoe lamkah loh boeih ka tuem coeng,” a ti nah.
The man said, “I have kept all these commandments from the time I was a young boy.”
22 A yaak vaengah Jesuh loh anih te, “Pakhat na vawt pueng. Na khueh sarhui te boeih yoi lamtah khodaeng rhoek ham tael pah. Te daengah ni vaan ah khohrhang na khueh eh. Te phoeiah kai taengah pahoi ha bang,” a ti nah.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing yoʋ still lack: Sell everything yoʋ have and distribute the money to the poor, and yoʋ will have treasure in heaven; then come follow me.”
23 Tedae anih te kuirhang la muep a om dongah te ol te ngang a yaak vaengah sut om.
But when the man heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was extremely rich.
24 Ngang a yaak te Jesuh loh a hmuh vaengah, “Tangka aka khueh rhoek loh Pathen kah ram khuila a kun ham tah bahoeng kuel mai.
When Jesus saw that the man had become very sorrowful, he said, “How difficult it will be for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Kuirhang te Pathen ram kuiah a kun lakah phamet khui ah kalauk a kun te a phoeng la om,” a ti nah.
For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Aka ya rhoek loh, “Te koinih unim aka daem thai ve?” a ti uh.
Those who heard this said, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Tedae Jesuh loh, “Hlang loh a tloel nah te Pathen taengah tah yoeikoek la om mai,” a ti nah.
Jesus said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
28 Te vaengah Peter loh, “Amah kah imlo aka toeng kaimih long tah namah kam vai uh he,” a ti nah.
Then Peter said, “Behold, we have left everything and followed yoʋ.”
29 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih te, “Nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, Pathen kah ram ham im khaw, yuu khaw, manuca khaw, manu napa khaw, a ca khaw aka toeng te a om moenih.
Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, parents, brothers, wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
30 Anih tah tahae tue vaengah a pawklaih neh kumhal ah dungyan hingnah aka thoeng te dang mueh pawt suidae? a ti nah. (aiōn , aiōnios )
who will not surely receive many times more in this present age—and in the age to come, eternal life.” (aiōn , aiōnios )
31 Hlainit te a khuen tih amih taengah, “Jerusalem la cet uh sih ne, tonghma rhoek loh a daek hlang capa kawng te boeih soep pawn ni.
Then Jesus took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
32 Namtom rhoek taengah a voeih vetih a tamdaeng ni, a neet ni, a timtoih ni,
For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked, insulted, and spit upon.
33 Anih te a boh uh vetih a ngawn uh ni, tedae a thum hnin ah koep thoo ni,” a ti nah.
After flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 Tedae amih loh te te a hmuhming uh moenih. Hekah oltak long he amih taeng lamloh a thuh uh pueng dongah a thui te yakming uh pawh.
But the disciples did not understand any of these things; this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what was being said.
35 Jerocho te a pha tom vaengah mikdael pakhat loh long taengah ngol tih a bih.
As Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.
36 Hlangping kah a pah te a yaak vaengah, “Balae aka om he,” a ti.
When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was happening.
37 Te vaengah Nazareth Jesuh a pah te a taengla a puen pauh.
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 Te dongah pang tih, “David Capa, Jesuh, kai n'rhen lah,” a ti nah.
So he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Te vaengah aka lamhma rhoek loh anih te kamkhuem sak ham a ho uh. Tedae anih te muep lat pang tih, “David capa kai ng'rhen lah,” a ti nah.
Then those who were out in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 Te dongah Jesuh tah pai tih, anih te amah taengla mawt hamla ol a paek. A yoei uh vaengah Jesuh loh mikdael amah te a dawt.
So Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When the man drew near, Jesus asked him,
41 “Nang ham na ngaih te balae kan saii eh?,” a ti nah. Te vaengah mikdael loh, “Boeipa, hmuh ham,” a ti nah.
“What do yoʋ want me to do for yoʋ?” He said, “Lord, I want to receive my sight.”
42 Jesuh loh anih te, “Tueng saeh, namah kah tangnah loh nang n'khang,” a ti nah.
So Jesus said to him, “Receive yoʋr sight; yoʋr faith has healed yoʋ.”
43 Te vaengah pahoi a hmuh dongah Jesuh hnuk a vai doeah Pathen te a thangpom. Pilnam boeih long khaw a hmuh vaengah Pathen te thangthennah a paek.
Immediately he received his sight and began following Jesus, glorifying God. And when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.
