< Joshua 6 >
1 Jerikho ngawn Israel ca rhoek loh a tlaeng la a tlaeng aka voei aka bal khaw om voel pawh.
Now, Jericho, was shut up and barred because of the sons of Israel, —none came out and none went in.
2 Te vaengah Joshua te BOEIPA loh, “So lah, Jerikho neh a manghai kah tatthai hlangrhalh te na kut ah kan tloeng coeng.
Then said Yahweh unto Joshua, See, I have delivered, into thy hand, Jericho and her king, —the mighty men of valour.
3 Te dongah caemtloek hlang boeih loh khopuei ke hil uh lamtah khopuei te voei khat vael uh. Te tlam te hnin rhuk khuiah saii.
So then ye shall compass the city all ye men of war, going round the city, once, —thus, shall thou do six days.
4 Te vaengah khosoih parhih loh jubilee tuki parhih te thingkawng hmai ah khawt uh saeh. Tedae a hnin rhih dongkah khopuei voei rhih vael uh vaengah tuki te khosoih rhoek loh ueng uh saeh.
And, seven priests, shall bear the seven rams’ horns before the ark, and, on the seventh day, shall ye compass the city seven times, —and, the priests, shall blow with the horns.
And it shall come to pass, when the ram’s horn soundeth, when ye hear the sound of the horn, that all the people shall shout with a great shout, —and then shall the wall of the city fall down under it, and the people shall go up, every man straight before him.
6 Te dongah Nun capa Joshua loh khosoih rhoek te a khue tih, “Paipi thingkawng te kawt uh lamtah khosoih parhih loh jubilee tuki parhih te BOEIPA kah thingkawng hmai ah kawt uh phai saeh,” a ti nah.
Then called Joshua son of Nun unto the priests, and said unto them, Bear ye the ark of the covenant, —and let, seven priest, bear seven rams horns, before the ark of Yahweh.
7 Te phoeiah pilnam te, “Lan uh lamtah khopuei ke hil uh. Aka pumcum tangtae loh BOEIPA thingkawng hmai ah cet saeh,” a ti nah tih a uen.
Then said he unto the people, Pass on and compass the city, —and let, the armed host, pass on before the ark of Yahweh.
8 Joshua loh pilnam te a uen phoei van atah jubilee tuki parhih aka kawt khosoih loh BOEIPA hmai la khong uh tih tuki te a ueng uh. Te phoeiah BOEIPA kah paipi thingkawng hnuk te a vai uh.
And it was so, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that, the seven priests who were bearing the seven rams’ horns before Yahweh, passed on and blew with the horns, —the ark of the covenant of Yahweh also coming after them.
9 Aka pumcum tangtae ngawn tah lamhma la khong uh. Tuki aka ueng khosoih rhoek khaw thingkawng hnukah vai hamla rhutrhut cet uh tih tuki te a ueng uh.
And, the armed host, went on before the priests who blew with the horns, —and, the rear-guard, came after the ark, going on and blowing with the horns.
10 Tedae pilnam te Joshua loh a uen tih, “Yuhui uh boeh, na ol yaak sak uh boeh. Nangmih taengah ka thui tue a pha hlan khuiah na ka dong lamloh olka puut boel saeh. Yuhui ka ti daengah ni na yuhui uh eh.
Now, unto the people, had Joshua given command, saying—Ye shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall there go out of your mouth, a word, —until the day when I say unto you Shout! then shall ye shout.
11 Te dongah BOEIPA kah thingkawng te a hil puei tih khopuei te voei khat a vael phoeiah rhaehhmuen a paan uh tih rhaehhmuen ah rhaeh uh,” a ti nah.
So he caused the ark of Yahweh to compass the city, going round once, —and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12 Joshua te mincang ah thoo bal tih BOEIPA kah thingkawng khosoih rhoek te a khuen.
And Joshua rose early in the morning, —and the priests bare the ark of Yahweh;
13 Te vaengah jubilee tuki parhih aka kawt khosoih parhih te BOEIPA kah thingkawng hmai ah cet cet uh tih, tuki te a ueng uh. Amih hmai kah aka cet tih aka pumcum tangtae tah BOEIPA thingkawng hnukah caeh hamla tingtun uh tih a caeh caeh doela tuki te a ueng uh.
and, the seven priests who bare the seven rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh, went on and on, and blew with the horns, —with, the armed host going on before them, and, the rear-guard, coming after the ark of Yahweh, going on and blowing with the horns.
14 A pabae khohnin ah khaw khopuei te voei khat a hil uh bal tih rhaehhmuen la bal uh. Te tlam te hnin rhuk a saii uh.
So they compassed the city on the second day once, and returned into the camp, —thus, did they, six days.
15 A hnin rhih dongkah mincang a pha vaengah thoo uh tih khopuei te voei rhih a tiktamnah hil a hil uh. Tekah khohnin dongah ni khopuei te voei rhih dawk a hil uh.
And it came to pass, on the seventh day, that they rose early at the uprisings of the dawn, and compassed the city after this manner, seven times, —only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
16 A voei rhih dongah tah khosoih rhoek loh tuki te a ueng uh. Te vaengah pilnam te Joshua loh, “Khopuei he BOEIPA loh nangmih m'paek coeng dongah yuhui uh.
And it came to pass, at the seventh time—when the priests blew with the horns, then did Joshua say unto the people—Shout, for Yahweh hath delivered unto you the city.
17 Te vaengah khopuei neh a khuikah aka om boeih te BOEIPA taengah yaehtaboeih la boeih om. Tedae pumyoi Rakhab longtah puencawn rhoi te a thuh tih a tueih dongah amah neh a im kah boeih tah hing uh saeh.
And it shall be, that, as for the city, devoted, shall it be and all that is therein unto Yahweh, —nevertheless, Rahab the harlot, shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.
18 Tedae yaehtaboeih te tah nangmih loh ngaithuen uh. Yaehtaboeih te loh ham na yakvawt uh koinih Israel kah rhaehhmuen te yaehtaboeih la na khueh uh vetih na lawn uh ve.
But, in any wise, do, ye, beware of what is devoted, lest ye should covet, and then take of what is devoted, —and so cause the camp of Israel to be devoted, and bring trouble upon it.
19 Cak neh sui khaw, rhohum hnopai neh thicung boeih tah BOEIPA kah hnocim la BOEIPA kah thakvoh khui ah kun sak saeh,” a ti nah.
But, as for all silver and gold and vessels of bronze and iron, hallowed, it is to Yahweh, —unto the treasury of Yahweh, shall it come.
20 Te dongah pilnam loh a yuhui vaengah tuki te a ueng uh. Tuki ol te pilnam loh a yaak vaengah pilnam loh tamlung neh bukbuk yuhui uh. Te vaengah vongtung te a dang lamkah loh cungku. Te dongah pilnam loh khopuei khuila tluek tluek boeih kun uh tih khopuei te a buem uh.
So the people shouted, when the horns were blown, —yea it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the horn, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down under it, and the people went up into the city every man straight before him, and so they captured the city.
21 Te vaengah khopuei khuikah huta, tongpa, camoe, patong khaw, vaito, tu neh laak khaw cunghang ha neh boeih a thup uh.
And they devoted all that were in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, —and ox and sheep and ass, with the edge of the sword.
22 Te vaengah khohmuen aka hip hlang panit taengah Joshua loh, “Pumyoi nu im la kun rhoi lamtah anih taengkah na caeng rhoi vanbangla tekah huta neh anih taengkah aka om boeih te pahoi hang khuen rhoi,” a ti nah.
But, unto the two men who spied out the land, Joshua said, Go into the house of the woman, the harlot, —and bring out thence the woman and all that she hath, as ye aware unto her.
23 Te dongah cadong longyam rhoi te cet rhoi tih Rakhab neh a manu a napa khaw, a nganpa rhoek neh anih taengah aka om boeih khaw a huiko rhoek boeih khaw a khuen rhoi tih Israel rhaehhmuen tollong ah a khueh rhoi.
So the young men the spies went in and brought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her brethren and all that she had, yea, all her kindred, brought they out, —and set them outside the camp of Israel.
24 Khopuei neh a khuikah aka om boeih te hmai neh a hoeh uh. Tedae cak neh sui khaw, rhohum hno neh thicung khaw BOEIPA im kah thakvoh dongah a khueh uh.
But, the city, burned they with fire, and all that was therein, —save only, the silver and the gold and the vessels of bronze and of iron, put they into the treasury of the house of Yahweh.
25 Tedae pumyoi Rakhab neh a napa cako neh anih taengkah aka om boeih tah Jerikho hip ham Joshua kah a tueih puencawn rhoi te a thuh dongah Joshua loh a hlun tih tihnin due Israel lakli ah kho a sak.
And, Rahab the harlot and the household of her father and all that she had, did Joshua save alive, so she hath dwelt in the midst of Israel until this day, —because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 Te vaeng tue ah Joshua loh a toemngam tih, “U khaw thoo tih Jerikho khopuei aka thoh hlang tah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah thaephoei thil la om ni. A caming neh a toong rhoi vetih a canoi nen ni thohkhaih khaw a thoh pueng eh,” a ti.
And Joshua imposed an oath at that time, saying, —Cursed be the man before Yahweh who shall raise up and build this city—Jericho, At the price of his firstborn, shall he lay its foundation, and, at the price of his youngest, shall he set up its doors.
27 BOEIPA loh Joshua taengah a om van dongah kho takuem ah a mingthangnah khaw om.
And so it was that Yahweh was with Joshua, —and his fame was in all the land.
