< Joshua 11 >
1 Hazor manghai Jabin loh a yaak vaengah Madon manghai Jobab, Shimron manghai neh Akshaph manghai,
When Jabin, king of Hazor, heard about what happened, he sent a message to Jobab, king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Achshaph,
2 tlangpuei tlang neh Kinnereth tuithim kolken kah manghai rhoek te khaw, kolrhawk neh khotlak Dore khamyai kah khaw a tah.
and to the kings of the northern hill country, the Jordan Valley south of Kinnereth, the western foothills, and the foothills of Dor to the west,
3 Khocuk khotlak kah Kanaan neh Amori, Khitti, Perizzi khaw, tlang kah Jebusi neh Mizpah kho Hermon kungdak kah Khivee kah khaw, a tah.
to the kings of the Canaanites, both east and west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites living near Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
4 Te dongah amih te a lambong boeih neh pilnam loh tuipuei tuikaeng kah laivin bangla muep ha pawk uh tih a marhang khaw khawk, a leng khaw muep yet.
All their armies assembled together, a vast horde as numberless as the sand of the seashore, together with many, many horses and chariots.
5 Tekah manghai rhoek loh boeih tuentah uh thae tih ha suntla uh. Te phoeiah Israel tloek ham Merom kah tui taengah tun rhaeh uh.
All these kings joined forces and set up camp beside the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.
6 Tedae BOEIPA loh Joshua taengah, “Amih mikhmuh ah rhih uh boeh, thangvuen he vaeng tue ah amih boeih te Israel mikhmuh ah kai loh a rhok la ka tloeng vetih a marhang khaw na haih bitni, a leng khaw hmai neh na hoeh bitni,” a ti nah.
The Lord said to Joshua, “Don't be afraid because of them, for by this time tomorrow I myself will hand them all over to Israel, dead. Cripple their horses and burn their chariots.”
7 Te dongah Joshua amah neh caemtloek pilnam boeih loh Merom tui taengah thaeng cet tih amih te a tloek uh.
Joshua and the Israelite army went and attacked them without warning at the waters of Merom.
8 Te vaengah amih te BOEIPA loh Israel kut dongla a tloeng. Te dongah amih te a tloek uh tih Sidon puei, Misrephothmayim neh khocuk kah Mizpeh kolbawn due pataeng a hloem uh tih rhaengnaeng khaw a hlun mueh la a ngawn uh.
The Lord handed them over to the Israelites who cut them down and chased them as far as Greater Sidon and Misrephoth Maim, and east to the valley of Mizpah, killing them until none were left.
9 BOEIPA loh a uen vanbangla Joshua loh amih taengah a saii. A marhang khaw a haih pah tih a leng te khaw hmai neh a hoeh pah.
Afterwards Joshua did what the Lord had ordered: he crippled the horses and burned the chariots.
10 Tekah khohnin dongah Joshua loh ha bal tih Hazor neh Hazor manghai te a buem. Hazor tah a hmai ah ram takuem kah a lu la a om dongah cunghang neh a ngawn.
Then Joshua turned on Hazor. He captured it and killed its king, for Hazor was at that time the chief of all these kingdoms.
11 A khuikah hinglu boeih te khaw cunghang ha neh a ngawn tih hiil aka khueh boeih a hlun mueh la a thup phoeiah Hazor te hmai neh a hoeh.
Joshua had all the inhabitants killed, leaving no survivors. He set it apart and completely destroyed it—no one was left alive. Then he burned down Hazor.
12 Te dongah BOEIPA kah sal Moses loh a uen vanbangla manghai khopuei boeih neh a manghai boeih te Joshua loh a buem vaengah cunghang ha neh a ngawn tih a thup.
Joshua captured all these towns and killed their kings. He set them apart and completely destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord had ordered.
13 Tedae som kah aka pai khopuei boeih te Israel loh hoeh pawt tih Hazor amah bueng ni Joshua loh a hoeh.
However, Israel did not burn any of the towns built on mounds, except Hazor, which Joshua did burn.
14 Khopuei rhoek kah kutbuem boeih neh rhamsa te Israel ca rhoek loh amamih ham a poel a yoeuh. Tedae hlang boeih te cunghang ha neh a ngawn tih hiil aka khueh boeih tah a mit a moeng hilah hlun voel pawh.
The Israelites did take for themselves all the plunder and livestock from these towns. But they killed all the inhabitants, destroying them all so none were left alive.
15 BOEIPA loh a sal Moses a uen vanbangla Joshua te khaw Moses loh a uen. Te dongah BOEIPA loh Moses a uen olka boeih te a hmaii mueh la Joshua loh a saii.
As the Lord had instructed Moses, so Moses had instructed Joshua. Joshua did what he had been told—he did everything that the Lord had instructed Moses.
16 Te dongah Joshua loh tlang kah khohmuen tom neh Negev pum khaw, Goshen khohmuen pum neh kolrhawk Arabah khaw, Israel tlang neh kolrhawk khaw,
So Joshua conquered the whole land—the hill country, the Negev, all the land of Goshen, the western foothills, the Jordan Valley, the mountains of Israel, and the eastern foothills.
17 Seir la aka luei Halak tlang lamkah Lebanon kolbawn Baalgad khaw, Hermon tlang hmui khaw a loh. A manghai rhoek te khaw boeih a buem tih a ngawn phoeiah a duek sak.
This covered land from Mount Halak leading to Seir in the south, right up to Baal Gad in the north, below Mount Hermon in the valley of Lebanon. Joshua captured and killed all their kings.
18 Tekah manghai boeih te Joshua loh caemtloek neh a saii vaengah khohnin long khaw muep puh.
Joshua fought a long war with all these kings.
19 Gibeon kah khosa Khivee pawt atah Israel ca rhoek taengah moi aka thuung a om pawt dongah khopuei te caem neh boeih a loh.
Not a single town made peace with the Israelites except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. All the rest were conquered in battle.
20 Amih loh BOEIPA taengah a lungbuei aka pom la om tih Israel te caem neh a mah uh. Te dongah BOEIPA loh Moses a uen vanbangla amih te mitmoeng sak ham lungmacil om mueh la a thup sak.
For the Lord made them stubborn, wanting to fight the Israelites so that they might be set apart and completely destroyed, wiped out without mercy, as the Lord had instructed Moses.
21 Te vaeng tue ah Joshua loh a paan bal tih Hebron, Debir, Anab tlang lamkah Anakim khaw, Judah tlang pum, Israel tlang boeih neh a khopuei rhoek te khaw a saii pah tih amih te Joshua amah loh a thup.
During this time Joshua also annihilated the descendants of Anak living in the hill country of Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and all the hill country of Judah and Israel. Joshua set apart and completely destroyed their towns,
22 Israel ca khohmuen ah Anakim tah hlun pawh. Gaza, Gath neh Ashdod kah bueng ni a sueng.
and there were no descendants of Anak left in the land of Israel, only some in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod.
23 Te dongah BOEIPA loh Moses boeih a uen vanbangla khohmuen pum te Joshua loh a loh. Te phoeiah Israel taengah amah koca kah boelnah bangla Joshua rho a paek tih khohmuen khaw caemtloek lamloh mong van.
So Joshua took the entire land in accordance with what the Lord had instructed Moses, giving it to Israel to own as it was divided up among the tribes. Then the land was at peace.
