< Johan 6 >

1 Te phoeiah Jesuh tah Galilee Tiberias tuili rhalvangan la cet.
After this Jesus went away across the Sea of Galilee (that is the lake of Tiberias).
2 Aka tlo rhoek soah a saii miknoek te a hmuh uh dongah amah te hlangping loh muep a vai.
A great crowd were following him, because they witnessed the signs which he was continually performing among those who were ill.
3 Te dongah Jesuh te tlang la luei tih a hnukbang rhoek taengah pahoi ngol.
Then Jesus walked up the hills and sat down there with his disciples. Now the Jewish feast, the Passover, was at hand.
4 Te vaengah Judah rhoek kah yoom khotue te om tom coeng.
Accordingly when he looked up, and perceived a great crowd was coming unto him,
5 Jesuh loh a mik te a dai hatah a taengla hlangping muep ha lo te a hmuh. Te dongah Philip la, “He rhoek loh a caak uh ham buh te melam n'lai uh eh?” a ti nah.
he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?"
6 Amah loh saii ham a cai te a ming dongah anih te noemcai ham ni a ti nah.
He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he intended to do.
7 Philip loh Jesuh te, “Denarii yahnih neh vaidam te a yool he poel boeih a doe uh amah amih ham rhoeh mahpawh,” a ti nah.
"Thirty-five dollars worth of bread," answered Philip, "is not enough for them, so that each can take a morsel."
8 A hnukbang rhoek khuikah pakhat Simon Peter kah a mana Andrew loh a taengah,
One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon, said to him.
9 “Nga lungnit neh cangtun vaidam hluem nga aka khueh tongpa ca tah om ta he, tedae he rhoek he heyet hamla balam lae a om?” a ti nah.
"There is a lad who has five barley loaves and a couple of fish; but what is that among so many?"

"Make the men sit down," said Jesus. The ground was covered with thick grass; so the men sat down, in numbers about five thousand. "of righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you will no longer see me;
11 Te dongah Jesuh loh vaidam te a loh tih a uem phoeiah aka vael rhoek taengah a tael. Te vanbangla nga te khaw a ngaih yet te a paek.
Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks he distributed them among those who were seated; in like manner also of the fish, as much as they wished,
12 A hah uh phoeiah a hnukbang rhoek te, “Aka coih a nueipil rhoek te coi uh, te daengah ni pakhat khaw a poci pawt eh?,” a ti nah.
and when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the fragments that are left, so that nothing may be wasted."
13 Te dongah a caak uh phoeikah cangtun vaidam panga kah a coih a nueipil te a coi uh vaengah voh hlainit dongah a sang uh.
So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves - the broken pieces that were left after they had eaten.
14 Miknoek a saii te hlang rhoek loh a hmuh tih, “Anih tah Diklai dongla aka pawk tonghma rhep ni,” a ti uh.
So when the people saw the sign which he had performed, they said, "This is in the truth the Prophet who is to come into the world."
15 Amah te tuuk tih manghai la khueh ham paan la a cai uh te Jesuh loh a ming. Te dongah amah bueng tlang la koep khoe uh.
When Jesus perceived that they intended to seize him in order to make him a king, he retired again to the hill all by himself.
16 Hlaem a pha vaengah tah a hnukbang rhoek te tuili la suntla uh.
When evening came on, his disciples went down to the sea.
17 Lawng khuila kun uh tih tuili rhalvangan kah Kapernaum la cet uh. Te phoeiah a hmuep loh a kae coeng dae Jesuh tah amih taengah pawk hlan.
There they got in a boat, and started across the sea for Capernaum. The darkness had already fallen,

Jesus had not yet come to them, and the sea began to rise, because a strong wind was blowing.
19 Phalong pakul panga neh sawmthum tluk a kaih uh vaengah Jesuh te tuili soah cet tih lawng taengla halo te a hmuh uh tih a rhih uh.
After they had rowed three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking upon the sea, and drawing near to the boat, and they were terrified;
20 Tedae amih te, “Kai ni rhih uh boeh,” a ti nah.
but he said to them, "It is I, be not afraid."
21 Te vaengah ngaingaih uh tih amah te lawng khuila a doe uh. Te daengah a caeh thil uh kho te lawng loh tlek a pha.
Then they were willing to take him on board, and immediately the boat reached the shore they were making for.

The crowd that remained on the other side of the sea had seen that there was only one small boat there, and that Jesus had not gone aboard with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away by themselves.
23 Tiberias lamkah lawng a tloe rhoek tah Boeipa loh vaidam te a uem tih a caak nah uh hmuen te vat a pha uh.
So, on the following day, when boats came from Tiberias near the place were they had eaten bread, after the Lord had given thanks, they got into the boats themselves,

when they saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, and went to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
25 Amah tuili ah val a hmuh uh vaengah, “Rhabbi, me vaengah lae hela na om,” a ti nauh.
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"
26 Jesuh loh amih te a doo tih, “Nangmih te rhep rhep kan thui, miknoek na hmuh uh dongah pawt tih, vaidam te na caak uh tih na hah uh dongah ni kai nan toem uh.
Jesus answered. "In solemn truth I tell you that you are looking for me, not because you saw miracles signs, but because you ate of the bread and were filled.
27 Aka poci thai caak ham pawt tih dungyan hingnah la aka naeh caak ham mah saiiuh. Te tah Pa Pathen kah kutnoek a daeng tangtae hlang capa loh nangmih m'paek ni,” a ti nah. (aiōnios g166)
"Labor not for food which perishes, but for the food that endures eternal life - that which the Son of man will give you; for on the Father - God - has set his seal." (aiōnios g166)
28 Te dongah amah te, “Pathen kah khoboe te n'saii ham atah balae ka saii eh?,” a ti nauh.
"What are we to do habitually," they asked him, "that we may keep working the words of God?"
29 Jesuh loh amih te a doo tih, “A tueih hlang na tangnah uh te Pathen kah khoboe ni he,” a ti nah.
"This is the work of God," answered Jesus, "that you believe on him whom He has sent you."
30 Te dongah amah te, “Te koinih miknoek balae na saii? Ka hmuh uh daengah ni nang kan tangnah uh van eh. Balae na saii eh?
The they said to him. "What sign, then, are you performing, so that we may see it and believe in you? What work are you doing?

"In solemn truth I tell you," said Jesus in reply, "Moses did not give you the bread out of heaven, but my Father does give you the true bread out of heaven;
33 Pathen kah vaidam tah vaan lamkah aka rhum la om tih Diklai ah hingnah a paek,” a ti nah.
"for the bread of God is what come down from heaven, and gives life to the world."
34 Te dongah amah te, “Boeipa, tekah vaidam te kaimih vawp vawp m'pae,” a ti nauh.
"Ah, Sir," said they, "evermore give us this bread."
35 Jesuh loh amih te, “Kai tah hingnah vaidam ni, kai taengah aka pawk tah a bungpong tlaih pawt vetih kai aka tangnah tah tui koep hal tlaih mahpawh.
"I myself am the bread of life," answered Jesus; "he who comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst again.
36 Tedae nangmih loh kai nan hmuh uh lalah nan tangnah uh moenih ka ti.
"But as I told you, you have seen me, and yet you do not believe.

41 Kai tah vaan lamkah aka suntla vaidam ni,” a ti dongah amah taengah Judah rhoek loh a kohuet pauh.
Then the Jews began to find fault with Jesus, because he said, "I am the bread which comes down out of heaven," and they kept asking.
42 Te dongah, “Anih he Joseph capa Jesuh moenih a? “A manu neh a napa te khaw mamih loh m'ming uh. Metlam lae, 'Vaan lamkah ka rhum, ' a ti he?” a ti uh.
"Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? How is it that he now says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?"
43 Jesuh loh amih te a doo tih, “Khat neh khat kohuet uh boeh.
"Do not find fault with me among yourselves,"
44 Kai aka tueih pa loh anih te a doek pawt atah kai taengah ha pawk thai moenih. Anih te kai loh a hnukkhueng khohnin ah ka thoh ni.

47 Nangmih taengah rhep rhep ka thui, aka tangnah loh dungyan hingnah a khueh. (aiōnios g166)
"I tell you solemnly that he who believes has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Kai tah hingnah buh ni.

"I myself am the living bread that has come down from heaven. Any one who eats this bread will live forever; and moreover, the bread which I will give is my flesh, given for the life of the world." (aiōn g165)
52 Te dongah Judah rhoek tah amamih hnuei uh thae tih, “Anih loh a saa te caak ham mamih m'paek thai aya?,” a ti uh.
Then the Jews began to dispute among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
53 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih te, “Nangmih te rhep, rhep kan thui, hlang capa kah a saa te na ca uh pawt tih a thii te na ok uh pawt atah, namamih khuiah hingnah na khueh uh moenih.
"I tell you solemnly," said Jesus, "that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

55 Ka saa tah caak tang la om tih ka thii tah ok koi tang la om.
"For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

"This is the bread which came down from heaven; not such as your fathers ate and died, for he who feeds upon this bread shall live forever." (aiōn g165)
59 He rhoek he Kapernaum kah tunim ah a thuituen vaengah a thui.
He spoke these words while in the synagogue, while he was teaching in Capernaum.
60 A hnukbang rhoek loh muep a yaak uh vaengah, “Hekah olka he kaelkhak la om, u long a yakming thai eh?” a ti uh.
So many of his disciples, when they heard it, said. "This teaching is unbelievable! Who can listen to him?"
61 He kawngah a hnukbang rhoek a kohuet uh te Jesuh amah loh a ming dongah amih te, “He loh nangmih n'khah a?
Jesus, conscious within himself that his disciples were finding fault with him about his teaching, said to them.
62 Hlang capa te lamhma kah a om nah la a luei te na hmu uh koinih ta?
"Does this displease you? What then if you were to behold the Son of man ascending to where he was before?

"The spirit is what gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words which I have been speaking to you, are spirit and are life.
64 Tedae nangmih khuiah aka om pakhat loh a tangnah moenih,” a ti nah. Te tah aka tangnah pawt la om tih te tah amah aka voei la a om khaw a tongnah lamlong ni Jesuh loh a ming.
"Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who should betray him.
65 Te phoeiah, “A pa lamloh a taengah paek la a om pawt atah kai taengla ha pawk thai pawt te nangmih taengah kan thui he,” a ti nah.
So he added, "This is why I told you that no on can come to me unless it be given from the Father."
66 Te lamkah tah a hnukbang rhoek te a hnuk la muep nong uh tih a taengah pongpa uh pawh.
Therefore many of his disciples drew back and no longer companied with him.
67 Te dongah Jesuh loh hlainit rhoek te, “Nangmih khaw caeh na ngaih uh pawt nim?,” a ti nah.
So Jesus appealed to the Twelve. "You also do not wish to leave me, do you?"
68 Amah te Simon Peter loh, “Boeipa, u taengah nim ka caeh uh eh? (aiōnios g166)
Simon Peter answered. "To whom shall we go Master? You have words of eternal life; (aiōnios g166)
69 Kumhal hingnah ol na khueh te ka tangnah uh dongah nang tah Pathen kah hlangcim ni tila ka ming uh,” a ti nah.

In reply Jesus said to them. "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? And yet even of you one is an enemy."
71 Simon capa Judas Iskariot ni a thui. Hlainit khuiah anih pakhat loh Jesuh te voeih hamla cai.
Now Jesus was speaking of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot; for Judas was to betray him, although he was one of the Twelve.
