< Johan 5 >
1 He phoeiah Judah rhoek kah khotue om tih Jesuh tah Jerusalem la cet.
After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches.
3 Te rhoek ah te aka yuii, aka khaem rhoek, mikdael rhoek neh aka tlotat rhoek loh rhaengpuei la yalh uh.
In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralysed, waiting for the moving of the water;
4 Saivai ah puencawn ha pawk atah tuibuem a hinghuen sak. Tuibuem a hinghuen vaengah aka cungpung lamhma tah hoeih.
for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.
A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years.
6 Jesuh loh aka yalh sut te a hmuh vaengah kum muep di coeng tila a ming. Te dongah anih te, “Sading la om na ngaih a?” a ti nah.
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 Aka tlo loh Jesuh te, “Boeipa, tui a hinghuen vaengah tuibuem khuila kai aka tulh ham te hlang ka khueh moenih, ka caeh pangthuem khaw a tloe loh kai hmaiah cungpung coeng,” a ti nah.
The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
9 Tekah hlang tah sading la pahoi a om dongah a phakdoeng te a koh tih pongpa. Tekah khohnin tah Sabbath la om.
Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now that day was a Sabbath.
10 Te dongah aka hoeih tangtae te Judah rhoek loh, “Sabbath a om vaengah nang tah na phakdoeng te n'koh sak moenih,” a ti nauh.
So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
11 Te long khaw amih te a doo tih, “Kai sading la aka om sak loh kai taengah, ‘Namah kah phakdoeng te kawt lamtah cet laeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’”
12 Amah te, “Nang taengah, 'Kawt lamtah cet, ' aka ti te u hlang nim?” a ti nauh.
Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”
13 Tedae aka hoeih loh Jesuh te unim ti khaw a ming moenih. Tekah hmuen ah hlangping a om vaengah ni Jesuh tah pawlh a bit uh coeng.
But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
14 Te phoeiah Jesuh loh anih te bawkim khuiah a hmuh tih, “Sading la na om coeng he. Tholh voel boeh saw. Khat khat loh nang taengah a thae la ha pai mahpawt nim,” a ti nah.
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 Hekah he Sabbath ah a saii dongah Judah rhoek loh Jesuh te a hnaemtaek uh.
For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
17 Tedae Jesuh loh amih te, “A pa loh tahae duela a saii dongah kai khaw ka saii,” a ti nah.
But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
18 Te vaengah Sabbath te a phae bueng kolla Pathen khaw a pa a ti tih Pathen te amah neh vanat la a khueh bal dongah Judah rhoek loh amah te ngawn ham taoe a mae uh.
For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih te a doo tih, “Nangmih taengah rhep rhep ka thui, pa loh a saii te a hmuh pawt atah capa loh amah lamkah a saii ham a coeng loeng loeng moenih. Te loh a saii te tah capa long khaw a saii van he.
Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 Pa loh aka duek rhoek te a thoh tih a hing sak bangla capa long khaw a ngaih te tah a hing sak van.
For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
22 Pa loh pakhat khaw lai a tloek thil moenih. Tedae laitloeknah he capa taengah boeih a paek coeng.
For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgement to the Son,
that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who doesn’t honour the Son doesn’t honour the Father who sent him.
24 Nangmih taengah rhep rhep kan thui, kai ol a yaak tih ka tueih hlang te aka tangnah loh dungyan hingnah a khueh. Te dongah laitloeknah khuila kun pawh, dueknah lamloh hingnah khuila thoeih coeng. (aiōnios )
“Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life. (aiōnios )
25 Nangmih taengah rhep rhep kan thui, a tue ha pawk tih om coeng. Aka duek rhoek khaw Pathen capa kah ol te a hnatun tih aka ya rhoek tah hing uh ni.
Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.
26 Pa loh a khuiah hingnah a khueh bangla capa long te khaw a khuiah hingnah khueh ham a paek van.
For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.
27 Hlang capa la a om dongah laitloeknah saii ham saithainah khaw amah taengah a paek.
He also gave him authority to execute judgement, because he is a son of man.
28 A tue ha pawk coeng dongah phuel khuikah rhoek boeih loh a ol te a khuiah a yaak uh vetih ha moe uh ni.
Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
29 He he ngaihmang sak uh boeh. A then aka saii rhoek tah hingnah dongkah thohkoepnah la, tedae a thae la kho aka boe rhoek tah laitloeknah kah thohkoepnah dongla pawk.
and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgement.
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgement is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
31 Kai loh kamah kawng ka phong koinih kai kah olphong te oltak om pawh.
“If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.
It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
33 Nangmih loh Johan taengla na tueih uh vaengah oltak te a phong.
You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
34 Kai loh hlang taengkah olphong te ka doe moenih. Tedae nangmih khang ham he rhoek he ka thui.
But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.
35 Anih te tok tangtae hmaiim la om tih a vang hatah nangmih loh anih kah vangnah khuiah kohoe kolkalh ham na ngaih uh.
He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
36 Tedae kai loh Johan lakah olphong tanglue ka khueh.
But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.
The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
38 A ol te na khuiah na khueh uh pawt tih a naeh pawt dongah amah loh a tueih te khaw na tangnah uh pawh.
You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.
“You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. (aiōnios )
40 Te phoeiah hingnah dang ham kai taengla na lo ngaih uh moenih.
Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.
41 Hlang lamkah thangpomnah te ka doe moenih.
I don’t receive glory from men.
42 Tedae nangmih loh namamih khuiah Pathen kah lungnah na khueh uh pawt te ka ming.
But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.
43 A pa kah ming neh kai ka pawk dae kai nan doe uh moenih.
I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
“Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
Anih long khaw kai kawng ni a daek.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
47 Tedae anih kah cabu te na tangnah uh pawt atah metlamlae kai olka he na tangnah uh eh?” a ti nah.
But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
