< Joba 21 >
1 Te phoeiah Job loh a doo tih tih,
And Job answers and says:
2 Ka ol hnatun, hnatun lamtah te te nangmih kah hloephloeinah om saeh.
“Hear my word diligently, And this is your consolation.
3 Ka thui vaengah kai ol he ueh mai lamtah ka thui hnukah nan tamdaeng akhaw.
Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking—you may deride.
4 Kai khaw ka kohuetnah he hlang hut a? Balae tih ka mueihla loh a ngen pawt mai eh?
[Is] my complaint [against] man? And if [so], why may my temper not become short?
5 Kai taengla a mael vaengah hal tih a kut neh a ka te a puei.
Turn to me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.
6 Ka poek bal vaengah ka let tih ka pumsa he tuennah loh a tuuk.
Indeed, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh has taken fright.
7 Halang rhoek tah haimo la a hing uh akhaw balae tih tatthai la a len uh.
Why do the wicked live? They have become old, Indeed, they have been mighty in wealth.
8 A mikhmuh kah a tiingan rhoek neh a mikhmuh kah a cadil cahma khaw amih taengah a cikngae sak.
Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
9 Amih im khaw birhihnah lamloh ngaimongnah la om tih Pathen kah conghol loh amih soah cuk thil pawh.
Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God on them.
10 A vaito a pil vaengah a vaito a pom khaw tuei pawt tih thangyah tlaih pawh.
His bullock breeds without fail. His cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
11 A casenca rhoek te boiva bangla a hlah uh tih a camoe rhoek loh soipet uh.
They send forth their sucklings as a flock, And their children skip,
12 Kamrhing neh rhotoeng te a phueih uh tih phavi ol neh a kohoe uh.
They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of a pipe.
13 Amamih vaengkah tue then khuiah muei uh tih hmawn uh. Mikhaptok ah saelkhui la ael uh. (Sheol )
They wear out their days in good, And in a moment go down [to] Sheol. (Sheol )
14 Tedae Pathen taengah, “Kaimih taeng lamloh nong laeh. Na longpuei ming ham ka ngaih uh moenih.
And they say to God, Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Your ways We have not desired.
15 Anih taengah thothueng ham khaw unim tlungthang? A taengah n'cuuk uh ham khaw balae a hoeikhang eh?” a ti uh.
What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?
16 Amih kah thennah khaw amamih kut ah om pawt lah ko ke. Halang rhoek kah cilsuep te kai lamloh lakhla saeh.
Behold, their good [is] not in their hand (The counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
17 Halang rhoek kah hmaithoi tah metlam khaw thi tih amamih kah rhainah amamih soah a thoeng pah. A thintoek neh a rhilong a suem pah.
How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And their calamity comes on them? He apportions pangs in His anger.
18 Khohli hmai ah cangkong bangla om uh tih cangkik bangla cangpalam loh a khuen.
They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a windstorm has stolen away,
19 Pathen loh a ca rhoek ham a khoem coeng. A boethae te amah taengah thuung saeh lamtah ming saeh.
God lays up for his sons his sorrow, He gives repayment to him—and he knows.
20 A sitlohthamlam te a mik, a mik ah tueng saeh lamtah tlungthang kah kosi te mam sak saeh.
His own eyes see his destruction, And he drinks of the wrath of the Mighty.
21 A hnukah a imkhui ham a kongaih te balae? A hla kah a tarhing khaw bawt coeng.
For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?
22 Pathen te mingnah a tukkil a? Amah he pomsang tih lai a tloek.
Does [one] teach knowledge to God, Since He judges [those] on high?
23 A cungkuem dongah bidipbisok tih thayoeituipan la amah kah thincaknah rhuhrhong neh aka duek he,
This [one] dies in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
24 A rhangsuk khaw suktui buem tih a rhuh hliing khaw sulpuem.
His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow moistens his bones.
25 Hinglu khahing la duek tih hnothen aka ca pawt he khaw,
And this [one] dies with a bitter soul, And has not eaten with gladness.
26 laipi khuiah rhenten yalh tih a rhit loh a soah a yol.
Together they lie down on the dust, And the worm covers them over.
27 Nangmih kah kopoek ka ming phoeiah tangkhuepnah neh kai soah nan hul ni te.
Behold, I have known your thoughts, And the schemes against me you do wrongfully.
28 “Hlangcong im te menim? Halang tolhmuen kah dap te menim?” na ti uh.
For you say, Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent—the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 Longpuei aka poeng rhoek te na dawt uh pawt tih amih kah miknoek khaw na hmat uh pawt nim?
Have you not asked those passing by the way? And do you not know their signs?
30 Rhainah khohnin lamloh boethae te a tuem tih thinpom khohnin lamloh a khuen te ta.
That the wicked is spared to a day of calamity. They are brought to a day of wrath.
31 A khoboe te a mikhmuh ah aka phoe pah te unim? A saii bangla a taengah aka thuung te unim?
Who declares his way to his face? And [for] that which he has done, Who gives repayment to him?
32 Anih khaw phuel la a khuen vaengah laivuei ni a hak thil.
And he is brought to the graves, And a watch is kept over the heap.
33 Anih ham soklong kah dikmuh khaw tui. Anih hnuk te hlang boeih loh a thoelh tih anih hmai kah hlangmi tae lek pawh.
The clods of the valley have been sweet to him, And he draws every man after him, And there is no numbering before him.
34 Te dongah balae tih a honghi la kai he nan hloep uh? Nangmih kah taikhaih khaw boekoeknah la cul coeng,” a ti.
And how do you comfort me [with] vanity, And trespass has been left in your answers?”
