< Jeremiah 7 >
1 BOEIPA taeng lamkah ol te Jeremiah taengla pawk tih,
This is the Lord's message that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
2 'BOEIPA im kah vongka ah pai lamtah he ol he pahoi doek laeh. Te vaengah BOEIPA taengah thothueng ham he kah vongka la aka pawk Judah pum te, 'BOEIPA ol he ya uh,’ ti nah,” a ti.
Go and stand in the entrance to the Lord's Temple, and deliver this message: Listen to what Lord has to say, all of you from Judah who are coming in through these gates to worship the Lord.
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel says: Change your ways and do what's right, and I'll let you go on living here.
4 Nangmih loh a hong ol dongah pangtung uh boeh. BOEIPA kah bawkim, BOEIPA kah bawkim, BOEIPA kah bawkim,” a ti uh.
Don't believe in those who try and deceive you by repeating, “The Temple of the Lord is here, the Temple of the Lord is here, the Temple of the Lord is here.”
If you sincerely change your ways and do what's right, if you treat each other fairly,
6 Yinlai, cadah neh nuhmai hnaemtaek uh boel lamtah he hmuen ah ommongsitoe thii kingling uh boeh, nangmih aka thae sak pathen tloe rhoek hnukah na pongpa pawt atah,
if you stop mistreating foreigners and orphans and widows, and if you stop murdering innocent people and stop hurting yourselves by worshiping,
then I'll let you go on living here in the country that I gave to your forefathers forever and ever.
8 Nangmih tah namamih ham aka hoeikhang pawh a hong ol dongah ni na pangtung uh te.
But look at you! You go on believing in these deceptions, these worthless words.
9 Huen ham, ngawn ham neh samphaih ham nim a honghi neh na toemngam uh? Baal taengah na phum uh tih ming pawt pathen tloe rhoek hnukah na pongpa uh.
Are you really going to continue stealing, murdering, committing adultery, and lying, burning incense to Baal, and worshiping other gods that you know nothing about,
10 Kai ming la a khue he im khuikah ka mikhmuh la na pawk uh tih na pai uh vaengah, “He rhoek kah tueilaehkoi he boeih n'saii uh akhaw n'huul uh,” na ti uh.
and then come and stand before me in my own Temple and say, “We're safe, so we can continue doing all these offensive things”?
11 Ka ming aka phuei im he nangmih mik ah dingca kah lungko la poeh coeng a? Tedae kai loh kam hmuh coeng he,” a ti. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
Do you see this house, my own Temple, as a den of thieves? Well, that's what it looks like to me too, declares the Lord.
12 Te dongah Shiloh kah ka hmuen te paan uh laeh. Te ah tah ka ming om lamhma coeng dae ka pilnam Israel kah boethae kongah anih soah ka saii te hmuh uh lah.
So why don't you go to Shiloh where I first made myself a place for me to live with you, and see what I did to it because of the evil my people Israel did?
Nangmih te kang khue dae nan doo uh moenih.
I've warned you time and again about all these things you've done but you've refused to listen, declares the Lord. I've called out to you but you didn't want to answer me.
14 Ka ming la a khue tih nangmih a khuiah na pangtung thil im te ka saii pueng ni. Nangmih taeng neh na pa rhoek taengah kam paek tangtae hmuen pataeng Shiloh taengkah bangla ka saii coeng.
So now I'm going to do to my Temple, what I did to Shiloh. This is the Temple your put your faith in, the place I gave to you and your forefathers.
I will throw you out of my presence, just as I expelled all your Israelite relatives, all the descendants of Ephraim.
16 Te dongah nang tah he pilnam yueng thangthui boeh, amih ham tamlung neh thangthuinah khaw ludoeng pah boeh. Kai he nan doo pawt dongah nang ol aka ya la kai ka om moenih.
You, Jeremiah, are not to pray for these people. Don't cry out to me in prayer for them, don't plead with me on their behalf, because I won't listen to you.
17 Judah loh khopuei neh Jerusalem tollong ah amih loh mebang a saii khaw na hmuh moenih a?
Can't you see how they're behaving in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
18 Ca rhoek loh thing a coi uh tih a napa rhoek loh hmai a toih uh. Manu rhoek loh vaan boeinu kah rhaibuh la saii pah ham vaidamtlam a nook uh. Kai aka veet hamla pathen tloe rhoek taengah tuisi a bueih.
The children collect the firewood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven, and they pour out drink offerings to other gods to make me angry and hurt.
19 Amih nim kai aka veet rhoek te. BOEIPA kah olphong ni he. A maelhmai ah yahpohnah aka om ham amih moenih a?
But is it really me they're hurting? declares the Lord. Aren't they really hurting themselves and bringing shame on themselves?
20 Te dongah ka Boeipa Yahovah loh he ni a thui. Ka thintoek neh ka kosi tah he hmuen sokah hlang so neh rhamsa soah, khohmuen thingkung so neh diklai thaihtae soah bo coeng. Te long te a dom vetih thi mahpawh.
So this is what the Lord God says: Watch! My furious anger and will be poured out on this country, on people and animals, on the orchards and the crops in the field. It will burn and nobody will be able to put it out.
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You can add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat all the meat yourselves!
When I led your forefathers out of Egypt I didn't just give them instructions about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
23 Tedae amih te hekah ol he lat ka uen tih, “Ka ol he hnatun uh lamtah nangmih kah Pathen la ka om bitni. Nangmih khaw ka pilnam la om uh. Nangmih kang uen longpuei ah boeih pongpa uh lamtah nangmih taengah voelphoeng van saeh,” ka ti.
This is the commandment I gave them: Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow everything I have commanded you to do, so that all will go well for you.
24 Tedae hnatun uh pawt tih a hna te kaeng uh pawh. A lungbuei boethae kah thinthahnah dongah cilkhih te a paan uh tih a hnuk a hmai pawt ah khaw om uh.
But they refused to listen or pay attention. Instead they followed the desires of their own stubborn and evil thinking, so they ended up going backward and not forward.
25 Egypt kho lamkah na pa rhoek aka pawk uh hnin lamloh tihnin duela nangmih taengah ka sal rhoek boeih kan tueih. Tonghma rhoek te hnin takhuem a thoh hang neh kan tueih coeng.
From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, I have sent you time after time my servants the prophets.
26 Tedae kai ol te ya uh pawt tih a hna te kaeng uh pawh. A rhawn a mangkhak sak uh tih a napa rhoek lakah thae uh ngai.
But you refused to listen or pay them attention. Instead, you became more stubborn and rebellious than your forefathers!
27 He kah ol he amih taengah boeih na thui dae nang ol te a yaak uh moenih.
When you tell them all this, they won't listen to you. When you call out to them, they won't answer.
28 Te dongah amih taengah “Namtom long he a Pathen BOEIPA ol te hnatun uh pawt tih thuituennah khaw doe uh pawh. Amih kah ka lamkah tah uepomnah khaw moelh tih talh coeng,” ti nah.
So you have to tell them, “This is the nation that refused to listen to what the Lord their God said, and would not accept the Lord's discipline. Truth has died out; people don't even talk about it.
29 Na rhuisam bawt lamtah voei laeh. Caphoei cuk ah rhahlung khuen laeh. BOEIPA loh a hnawt tih a thinpom kah cadilcahma khaw a phap coeng lah ko.
Cut off your hair and throw it away. Sing a song of mourning on the bare hills, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned the generation who made him angry.”
30 Judah ca rhoek loh ka mikhmuh ah boethae ni a saii uh. BOEIPA kah olphong ni he. Im ah a sarhingkoi te a khueh uh tih ming aka poeih rhung la ka ming a phoei.
For the people of Judah have done what is evil in my sight, declares the Lord. They have placed their offensive idols in my own Temple, making it unclean.
31 Topheth hmuensang te a khoeng uh tih kolrhawk kah hmai dongah a canu, a capa rhoek te a hoeh uh. Te te ka uen pawt tih ka lungbuei ah khaw a kun moenih.
They have built pagan shrines at Topheth in the Valley of Hinnom so they could sacrifice their sons and daughters by burning them in the fire. This is something I never commanded. I never even thought of such a thing!
32 Te dongah BOEIPA kah olphong ha phawk tarha nah hnin ah tah Topheth neh kolrhawk te koep phoei voel mahpawh. Tedae ngawnnah kolrhawk lakah Topheth ah ni hmuen a om pawt hil a up uh eh.
So watch out! The time is coming, declares the Lord, when instead of Topheth and the Valley of Hinnom this place will be called the Valley of Killing. People will bury their dead in Topheth until it's full.
33 Te vaengah pilnam kah a rhok he vaan kah vaa neh diklai rhamsa ham maeh la a om pah vetih aka hawt khaw om mahpawh.
The dead bodies of these people will be food for birds of prey and wild animals, and there won't be anyone to scare them away.
34 Judah khopuei rhoek khui neh Jerusalem tollong kah omngaihnah ol neh kohoenah ol khaw, yulo kah ol neh vasa ol khaw ka duem sak ni. Diklai te imrhong la om ni.
I will put a stop to the cheerful sounds of celebration and the happy voices of the bride and bridegroom from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the country will be turned into a wasteland.
