< Isaiah 3 >

1 Caempuei Boeipa Yahovah loh Jerusalem neh Judah lamkah tukcawt longkhawn neh conghol khaw, tukcawt buh boeih khaw, tukcawt longkhawn la aka om tui boeih khaw,
For, behold, the Lord, the Eternal of hosts, doth remove from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, every stay of bread, and every stay of water.
2 Hlangrhalh neh caemtloek hlang khaw, laitloek neh tonghma khaw, hlang aka bi neh patong khaw,
The hero, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 sawmnga kah mangpa neh maelhmai rhim aka om khaw, olrhoep neh kutthai hlangcueih khaw, calthai aka yakming khaw a khoe pah coeng ke.
The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the skilful artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 Cadong rhoek te amih kah mangpa la ka khueh pa vetih, camoe hnatuem loh amih a taem a rhai uh ni.
And I will set up boys as their princes, and children shall rule over them.
5 Pilnam te khat phoeiah khat, hlang loh amah hui taengah a tueihno ni. Camoe loh patong a hnaep vetih rhaidaeng la thangpom uh ni.
And so shall the people press man against man, and one against the other: the boy shall demean himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.
6 Hlang loh a napa imkhui kah a manuca te a tuuk vetih, “Na himbai nen khaw, mamih ham rhalboei la om mai. Hekah a rhok a rhap he khaw namah kut ah ni a om coeng,” a ti uh ni.
When a man will seize hold on his brother in the house of his father, [saying, ] Thou hast a garment, thou shalt be our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 Tekah khohnin ah tah huel uh vetih, “Kai aka khit a om moenih, ka im ah buh khaw om pawh, himbai khaw om pawh, pilnam rhalboei la kai ng'khueh uh boeh,” a ti ni.
He will swear on that day, saying, I will not be a chief; and in my house is neither bread nor clothing; you shall not appoint me a ruler of the people.
8 Jerusalem neh Judah te paloe coeng tih a ol dongah cungku coeng. A khoboe loh a thangpomnah kah mikhmuh ah BOEIPA a koek coeng.
For Jerusalem is sunk to decay, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to incense the eyes of his glory.
9 Amih maelhmai kah a hmaikhueh loh amamih te a doo. A tholh te Sodom bangla a doek tih phah pawh. Amih te yoethae neh a thuung thil dongah amih kah hinglu ngawn tah anunae.
The boldness of their face testifieth against them; and like Sodom they tell openly their sin, they conceal it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have prepared evil unto themselves.
10 Amamih kah khoboe kah a thaih te a caak uh ham coeng dongah then coeng tila aka dueng taengah thui uh.
Say ye to the righteous, that he hath done well; for the fruit of their doings shall they eat.
11 Anunae halang kah thaehuet aih ke, a kut neh a tiing la amah taengah a saii pah ni.
Woe unto the wicked who doeth evil; for the recompense of his hands shall be bestowed on him.
12 Ka pilnam te aka tueihno loh a poelyoe uh tih huta rhoek loh anih te a ngol thiluh. Ka pilnam aw, nang aka uem khaw kho a hmang uh coeng tih na longpuei caehlong a hmaang uh.
My people! their oppressors are children, and women rule over them. O my people! thy leaders cause thee to err, and the direction of thy paths they corrupt.
13 BOEIPA loh toe hamla pai coeng tih, Pilnam taengah laithui hamla pai coeng.
The Lord is stepped forth to plead, and standeth up to judge the people.
14 BOEIPA tah laitloeknah dongah a pilnam patong rhoek neh a mangpa rhoek taengla pawk coeng. Nangmih loh misurdum na cahawp uh tih na im ah mangdaeng kah hno om.
The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and their princes; but ye—ye have eaten up the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses.
15 Ba aih lae nang tloe tah? Ba aih lae nangmih tloe tah? Ka pilnam te na phop uh tih mangdaeng rhoek te a maelhmai ah na neet uh. Ka Caempuei Boeipa Yahovah kah olphong ni he.
What mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind down the faces of the poor? saith the Lord the Eternal of hosts.
16 BOEIPA loh, “Zion nu rhoek te a sang uh dongah a olrhong te a yueng a yueng uh tih cet. A mik kilkoel neh pongpa uh tih cidoep cidoep cet uh. A kho dongkah hling cai mai neh,” a ti.
And the Lord said, Forasmuch as the daughters of Zion are proud, and walk with stretched forth necks and casting about their eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 Ka Boeipa loh Zion nu kah a luki te a vinhna sak vetih BOEIPA loh amih kah luhuem te a tlai sak ni.
Therefore will the Lord smite with leprosy the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will lay open their nakedness.
18 Tekah khohnin ah ka Boeipa loh boeimang khocin rhui, lupong khaw, oihnun khaw,
On that day will the Lord take away the beauty of their tinkling shoe-buckles, and the hair-nets, and the crescent-shaped ornaments,
19 hnapha khaw khungpak neh hniboeng khaw,
The drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 lukhuem neh khocin, haikang neh hinglu im khaw, calthai khaw,
The bonnets, and the foot-chains, and the head-bands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 kutcaeng neh hnarhong dongkah hnaii,
The finger-rings, and nose-jewels,
22 boeimanghni neh bailoeng khaw, himbai neh sungkoi khaw,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the pockets.
23 hmaidan khaw, hni khaw, sammuei khaw, lumuek hni khaw a khoe ni.
The mirrors, and the chemisettes, and the turbans, and the long vails.
24 Botui yueng la a bo aka hiik om ni, lamko yueng la hnithae, samtoel yueng la lungawng, hnithen yueng la tlamhni hnimuen, sakthen yueng la thiling te om ni.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be corruption; and instead of a girdle a rope; and instead of curled hair baldness; and instead of a wide garment a girding of sackcloth, a mark of burning instead of beauty.
25 Na hlang rhoek cunghang dongah, na thayung thamal khaw caemtloek dongah cungku uh ni.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty ones in the war.
26 A thohka rhoek khaw huei uh vetih nguekcoi neh khohmuen ah a kaksap la om ni.
And then shall her gates lament and mourn; and stript of all shall she sit upon the ground.
