< Galati 3 >

1 Galati hlangang rhoek aw, a tai tangtae Jesuh Khrih te mik hmuh ah a tueng lalah unim nangmih aka hloih.
Foolish Galatians! Who has put a spell on you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly displayed as crucified.
2 Nangmih lamkah tah he bueng ni ming ka ngaih. Olkhueng kah khoboe nen nim, na dang uh mueihla neh tangnah hnavue nen nim?
This is the only thing I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by believing what you heard?
3 Hlangang la na om uh tangloeng. Mueihla ah hma aka pai loh pumsa ah na khah uh coeng.
Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now going to finish by the flesh?
4 A hoeihae lam nim heyet na patang uh? Te koinih a hoeihae pawn ni te.
Have you suffered so many things for nothing—if indeed it was for nothing?
5 Te dongah nangmih te mueihla aka pae tih nangmih ah thaomnah a tueng sak tah olkhueng kah khoboe nen nim? Thangnah kah hnavue nen dae nim?
Does he who gives the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
6 Te vanbangla Abraham loh Pathen te a tangnah tih amah te duengnah la a nawt.
Just as Abraham “believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness,”
7 Te dongah tangnah dongkah rhoek tah Abraham kah a ca rhoek ni tila ming uh.
in the same way, understand, then, that those of faith are the children of Abraham.
8 Namtom rhoek he tangnah loh a tang sak te cacim loh ana hmaitang coeng. Pathen loh Abraham te, “Nang lamloh namtom boeih a yoethen ni,” tila olthangthen a thui.
The scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”
9 Te dongah tangnah kah hlang rhoek te tah uepom Abraham rhangneh a yoethen uh.
So then, those of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
10 Olkhueng kah bibi lamloh aka om boeih tah rhunkhuennah hmuiah om uh. A saii uh ham te olkhueng cabu khuiah a daek. Te rhoek boeih dongah aka ngolpai pawt rhoek te rhunkhuen thil saeh,” tila a daek coeng.
All who rely on the works of the law are under a curse; and so it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all the things written in the book of the law, and do them.”
11 Tedae olkhueng lamloh Pathen taengah a tang pawt te mingpha coeng dongah aka dueng tah tangnah nen ni a hing eh.
Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because “the righteous will live by faith.”
But the law is not of faith, rather, “The person who does the works of the law must live by them.”
13 Khrih loh mamih he olkhueng kah rhunkhuennah lamloh n'tlan tih mamih yueng la rhunkhuennah a yook. “Rhunkhuen boeih tah thing dongah a hoei,” tila a daek pai.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—
14 Te daengah ni Abraham kah yoethennah tah Khrih Jesuh lamloh namtom taengah a pha eh. Te daengah ni Mueihla kah olkhueh te tangnah lamloh n'dang eh.
so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
15 Manuca rhoek hlang vanbangla ka thui. Hlang loh a cak sak paipi pataeng hnawt pawt tih a thap bal moenih.
Brothers, let me speak in human terms. In a man-made contract, no one can set it aside or add to it, once it is established by law.
16 Te dongah Abraham neh a tiingan ham olkhueh a thui uh vaengah a yet ham bangla, “Tiingan rhoek te,” a ti moenih. Tedae pakhat ham bangla, “Na tiingan taengah,” a ti nah. Te tah Khrih dae ni.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. It does not say, “to descendants,” referring to many, but instead to only one, “and to your descendant,” who is Christ.
17 Te dongah he he ka thui. Pathen loh a cak sak phoeikah kum yali sawmthum ah aka thoeng olkhueng loh paipi a hmil moenih. Te vanbangla olkhueh te khaw a phae moenih.
Now what I mean is this: The law, which came 430 years afterward, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God.
18 Rho tah olkhueng lamloh om koinih olkhueh dongah om mahpawh. Tedae Pathen loh olkhueh nen ni Abraham te a rhen.
For if the inheritance comes by the law, then it no longer comes by promise. But God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
19 Te koinih olkhueng te ta? A caeng tangtae tiingan te ha pawk duela boekoeknah rhoek te a thap. Tekah te rhikhangkung kut longah puencawn lamloh a uen coeng.
What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of trespasses, until the descendant of Abraham would come to whom the promise had been made. The law was put into force through angels by a mediator.
20 Rhikhangkung tah pakhat kah la om pawh. Tedae Pathen tah pakhat la om.
Now a mediator implies more than one person, but God is one.
21 Te koinih olkhueng loh Pathen kah olkhueh te a kingkalh a? Tlam te om mahpawh. Olkhueng a paek loh hing sak thai koinih olkhueng dongah duengnah rhep n'dang ni.
So is the law against the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.
22 Tedae a cungkuem he cacim loh tholhnah hmuiah a up coeng. Te daengah ni olkhueh tah Jesuh Khrih kah tangnah lamloh aka tangnah rhoek taengah a paek eh.
But the scripture imprisoned everything under sin. God did this so that the promise to save us by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 Tedae tangnah ha pawk hlan lamloh tangnah a pumphoe tom duela olkhueng hmuiah a uup tih n'khoembael.
Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until faith should be revealed.
So then the law became our guardian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith.
25 Tedae tangnah ha pawk vaengah tah cakhoem kut hmuiah om uh voel pawh.
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Then if you are Christ's, you are Abraham's descendants, and heirs according to promise.
