< Thuituen 7 >

1 A ming te tah situi then lakah ah then tih dueknah hnin he a cun khohnin lakah then.
Better [is] a name than good perfume, And the day of death than the day of birth.
2 Nguekcoinah im la caeh te buhkoknah im la caeh lakah then. He tah hlang boeih kah a bawtnah coeng tih aka hing loh a lungbuei ah dueh saeh.
Better to go to a house of mourning, Than to go to a house of banqueting, For that is the end of all men, And the living lays [it] to his heart.
3 Konoinah he nueihbu lakah then. Maelhmai thaenah long ni lungbuei a voelphoeng sak.
Better [is] sorrow than laughter, For by the sadness of the face the heart becomes better.
4 Aka cueih kah lungbuei tah nguekcoinah im ah dae aka ang kah lungbuei tah kohoenah im ah om.
The heart of the wise [is] in a house of mourning, And the heart of fools in a house of mirth.
5 Aka cueih kah tluungnah hnatun he tah aka ang laa aka hnatun hlang lakah then.
Better to hear a rebuke of a wise man, Than [for] a man to hear a song of fools,
6 Am lae kah hling ol bangla aka ang kah nueihbu khaw om. Te dongah he khaw a honghi ni.
For as the noise of thorns under the pot, So [is] the laughter of a fool, even this [is] vanity.
7 Hnaemtaeknah loh hlangcueih a yan sak tih kutdoe loh lungbuei a poo sak.
Surely oppression makes the wise mad, And a gift destroys the heart.
8 Ol bawtnah he a tongnah lakah then. Aka ueh kah mueihla he aka oek kah mueihla lakah then.
Better [is] the latter end of a thing than its beginning, Better [is] the patient of spirit, than the haughty of spirit.
9 Huesak hamla na mueihla neh let sak boeh. Konoinah he aka ang kah rhang dongah ni a kol.
Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry, For anger in the bosom of fools rests.
10 “Balae tih hnukbuet kah a tue aka om te tahae kah lakah a then la a om?” ti boeh. Te bang te cueihnah neh na dawt moenih.
Do not say, “What was it, That the former days were better than these?” For you have not asked wisely of this.
11 Cueihnah tah rho la then tih khomik aka hmu ham khaw hoeikhang.
Wisdom [is] good with an inheritance, And an advantage [it is] to those beholding the sun.
12 Cueihnah hlipkhup ah om he tangka hlipkhup kah om banghui ni. Tedae mingnah he tah rhoeikhangnah la om tih cueihnah long tah a kungmah te a hing sak.
For wisdom [is] a defense, money [is] a defense, And the advantage of the knowledge of wisdom [is], She revives her possessors.
13 Pathen kah bibi te hmu lah. Amah loh a khun sak te dueng hamla aka noeng te unim?
See the work of God, For who is able to make straight that which He made crooked?
14 A then tue vaengah tah a then la om. Tedae a yoethae tue vaengkah khaw hmu. He khaw dumlai dongah Pathen loh voeivang ah a khueh. Te daengah ni hlang loh a hnukah te pakhat khaw ahmu pawt eh.
In a day of prosperity be in gladness, And in a day of calamity consider: God has also made this alongside of that, To the intent that man does not find anything after him.
15 Kamah kah a honghi tue vaengah a cungkuem te ka hmuh. Amah kah duengnah dongah aka paltham hlang dueng om tih a boethae neh aka nguel halang khaw om.
The whole I have considered in the days of my vanity. There is a righteous one perishing in his righteousness, and there is a wrongdoer prolonging [himself] in his wrong.
16 Aka dueng koek la om boel lamtah hoeikhangnah aih ham khaw cueih boeh. Balae tih namah na phae uh?
Do not be over-righteous, nor show yourself too wise, why are you desolate?
17 Muep poehlip boel lamtah lunghmang la om boeh. Balae tih namah tue pawt vaengah na duek eh?
Do not do much wrong, neither be a fool, why do you die within your time?
18 He he na tuuk vaengah na kut te ke lamloh na hlah pawt ham then. Pathen aka rhih ham tah a cungkuem te a noeng.
[It is] good that you lay hold on this, and also, do not withdraw your hand from that, for whoever is fearing God goes out with them all.
19 Cueihnah long tah aka cueih te khopuei kah aka om boei parha lakah khaw a tanglue sak.
The wisdom gives strength to a wise man, more than wealth the rulers who have been in a city.
20 Diklai hman ah hnothen a saii tih aka tholh pawh hlang dueng a om moenih.
Because there is not a righteous man on earth that does good and does not sin.
21 Ol a thui uh boeih te khaw na lungbuei pae boeh. Te pawt koinih na sal loh namah n'tap te na ya ve.
Also to all the words that they speak do not give your heart, that you do not hear your servant reviling you.
22 Namah loh hlang tloe na tap te na lungbuei loh a voei a yet khaw a ming.
For many times also has your heart known that you yourself have also reviled others.
23 He boeih he cueihnah neh ka noemcai tih, “Ka cueih eh?,” ka ti dae kai lamloh lakhla laklo.
All this I have tried by wisdom; I have said, “I am wise,” and it [is] far from me.
24 Te tla a om te khaw hla coeng tih a dung lakah dung coeng. Te te aka hmu te unim?
Far off [is] that which has been, and deep, deep, who finds it?
25 Kamah neh ka lungbuei khaw, uepnah koikah halangnah neh anglatnah, lunghmangnah te ming ham neh yaam hamla, cueihnah neh poeknah tlap hamla ka maelh.
I have turned around, also my heart, to know and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and reason, and to know the wrong of folly, and the madness of foolishness.
26 A lungbuei te tluum neh soh la a tung tih a kut dongah pinyennah aka khueh huta he dueknah lakah khahing la ka hmuh. Pathen mikhmuh ah aka then tah anih aeng lamloh loeih suidae aka tholh tah anih loh a tuuk ni.
And I am finding more bitter than death, the woman whose heart [is] nets and snares, her hands [are] bands; the good before God escapes from her, but the sinner is captured by her.
27 So lah he, thuituenkung loh a thui bangla poeknah hmuh hamla pakhat soah pakhat ka phoel.
See, this I have found, said the Preacher, one to one, to find out the reason
28 Te te ka hinglu loh a tlap pueng dae ka hmuh moenih. Thawngkhat khuiah tongpa pakhat ka hmuh dae te boeih lakli ah huta ka hmuh moenih.
(that still my soul had sought, and I had not found), One man, a teacher, I have found, and a woman among all these I have not found.
29 He bueng mah so lah. Pathen loh hlang he a thuem la a saii coeng dae amih loh phuengnah muep a tlap uh te ka hmuh.
See, this alone I have found, that God made man upright, and they have sought out many inventions.
