Olrhaepnah 25
1 Hlang rhoi laklo ah tuituknah a om atah laitloeknah la thoeih rhoi saeh lamtah amih rhoi ham laitloek pa uh saeh. Te vaengah aka dueng te tang sak uh saeh lamtah aka halang te boe sak uh saeh.
When there ariseth a controversy between men, and they come nigh unto judgment, and judgment is granted them, then shall they justify the righteous man, and condemn the lawless.
2 Aka halang tah a boh ca hamla om ni. Te vaengah aka halang te lai aka tloek loh bakop sak saeh lamtah a halangnah tarhing neh a ting la a mikhmuh ah taam saeh.
And it shall be—if the lawless man be, worthy of stripes, then shall the judge cause him to lie down and be beaten before him, according to the measure of his lawlessness, by number:
3 Anih te voei sawmli lakah a pueh la taam boeh. A pueh la na taam tih hmasoe yet koinih na manuca te na mikhmuh ah rhaidaeng la om ve.
forty stripes, may he give him not going beyond, —lest, if he do go beyond to smite him above these, with many stripes, then should thy brother be of no account in thine eyes.
4 Vaito khaw cang a til vaengah a ka poi pah boeh.
Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the corn.
5 Manuca thikat la om uh tih amih khuikah pakhat te ca a om mueh la a duek atah aka duek kah a yuu te imlang kah kholong hlang loh lo boel saeh. Anih te a vahoi rhoek loh kun thil saeh. Amah yuu la lo saeh lamtah yucanah saeh.
When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth, having, no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside to a stranger, —her husband’s brother, shall go in unto her, and take her unto him to wife and do for her as a husband’s brother.
6 Te vaengah caming a cun loh a manuca aka duek ming te thoh pah saeh. Te daengah ni anih ming khaw Israel khui lamloh a hmata pawt eh.
And it shall be, that, the firstborn which she beareth, shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, —so shall his name not be wiped out from Israel.
7 Tekah hlang loh a maya yuu te loh ham a ngaih pawt atah a maya yuu khaw vongka khuikah patong rhoek taengah puen saeh lamtah, “Israel khuiah a manuca ming thoh pah ham neh kai yucanah ham a aal tih kai yucanah ham a huem moenih,” ti nah saeh.
But, if the man like not to take his sister-in-law, then shall his sister-in-law go up unto the gate, unto the elders, and say—My husband’s brother hath refused, to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he is not willing to do as a husband’s brother unto me.
8 Te phoeiah khopuei patong rhoek loh anih te khue uh saeh lamtah amah te dawt uh saeh. Tedae ning mangkhak tih, “Anih loh ham ka ngaih moenih,” a ti atah,
Then shall the elders of his city call him and speak unto him, —and he shall stand and say, I like not to take her.
9 a maya yuu khaw patong rhoek kah mikhmuh ah anih taengla thoeih saeh lamtah a kho dongkah khokhom te dul pah saeh. A maelhmai te a timthoeih pah phoeiah doo saeh lamtah, “A manuca kah im aka thoh pawt hlang te he tlam he saii pah kangna saeh,” ti nah saeh.
Then shall his brother’s wife come near unto him in the presence of the elders, and draw his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, —and respond and say, Thus shall it be done unto the man who will not build up the house of his brother.
10 Te dongah anih ming te Israel khuikah khokhom aka dul imkhui la khue uh saeh.
And his name shall be called in Israel, —The house of him who had his shoe drawn off.
11 Hlang rhoek te hlang pakhat neh a manuca khaw rhenten hnuei uh thae mai ni. Te vaengah a hlang te anih aka ngawn kut lamloh huul hamla pakhat yuu te ha pawk mai ni. Te vaengah a yuu loh a kut a yueng tih a yah te a thoh atah.
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, —and she putteth forth her hand, and seizeth him by his parts of shame,
12 a kut te tloek pah lamtah na mik long khaw rhen boel saeh.
then shalt thou cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity.
13 Na sungsa khuikah aka om lungcang pakhat neh pakhat te khaw a yit a len om boel saeh.
Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, —a great and a small.
14 Na im khuikah na cangnoek te khaw cangnoek a yit a len om boel saeh.
Thou shalt not have in thy house divers measures, —a great and a small.
15 Na coilung te a rhuemtuet neh a duengnah om saeh lamtah na cangnoek khaw a rhoeh khoeng neh a thuem balh la om saeh. Te daengah ni BOEIPA na Pathen loh nang m'paek khohmuen ah na hinglung a vang eh.
A weight full and just, shalt thou have, a measure full and just, shalt thou have, —that thy days may be prolonged upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee.
16 Te dumlai aka vai neh aka saii boeih tah BOEIPA na Pathen kah a tueilaehkoi ni.
For an abomination unto Yahweh thy God, is every one that doeth these things, —every one that doeth unjustly.
17 Egypt lamkah na lo tih longpueng ah Amalek loh nang soah a saii te poek lah.
Remember that which Amalek did unto thee by the way when ye came forth out of Egypt;
18 Longpuei ah nang m'mah tih nang lamkah lamhnuk boeih te nang hnukah a tloek. Na buhmueh rhathih neh na bonghnaek vaengah Pathen khaw a rhih moenih.
how he encountered thee by the way and cut off in thy rear all the worn-out behind thee, thou thyself, being weary and worn, —how he feared not God.
19 Tedae nang taengah rho la pang sak ham BOEIPA na Pathen loh m'paek khohmuen kaepvai kah na thunkha rhoek boeih kut lamkah te BOEIPA na Pathen loh n'khoem bitni. Te vaengah Amalek poekkoepnah te vaan hmui lamloh khoe ham hnilh boeh.
Therefore shall it be when Yahweh thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee for an inheritance to possess it, then shalt thou wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens, —thou shalt not forget.
