And the high priests said; Are these things so?

And he said, Men, brothers and fathers, hear ye; The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he migrated into Haran, and He said to him;
3 Te vaengah anih te, “Na khohmuen neh na cako taeng lamloh cet lamtah na paan ham khohmuen te tah nang kan tueng eh?,” a ti nah.
Come out from thy country and from thy kindred, and come hither into the land which I will show unto thee.
4 Te dongah Khalden khohmuen lamloh nong tih Kharrhan ah kho a sak. Te lamloh a napa a duek phoeiah he khohmuen la amah puen uh tih te ah nangmih loh kho na sak uh coeng.
And after his father died he migrated himself thence into this country in which you now dwell,
5 Te ah te rho a paek pawt dongah khotloeng pataeng khueh pawh. Te vaengah anih te camoe om hlan dae anih neh anih hnukah a tiingan taengah khohmuen te khoyo la paek ham ol a caeng.
and God gave him no inheritance in it, not the step of his foot; and he promised to give it to him, and his seed after him, for an inheritance, there being no child to him.
6 Te dongah a tiingan loh hlanglang kho ah yinlai la a om ham khaw, amih te sal a bi sak uh vetih kum yali a phaep uh ham khaw Pathen loh a thui coeng.
And thus God spoke, that his seed shall sojourn in a strange land, and they will enslave it and oppress it four hundred years.
7 Tedae Pathen loh, “Amih sal aka bi sak namtom te lai ka tloek ni. Te phoeiah cet uh vetih he hmuen ah kai m'bawk uh ni,” a ti.
And the nation whom they shall serve I will judge, says God, and after these things they shall come out and serve me in this place.
8 Te phoeiah anih te yahvinrhetnah ham paipi a paek. Te dongah ni Isaak a cun vaengah khaw a hnin rhet dongah a rhet pah. Te phoeiah Isaak loh Jakob, Jakob loh patuel hlainit te a rhet pah.
And He gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac, Jacob; and Jacob, the twelve patriarchs.

And the patriarchs, envying Joseph, sold him into Egypt:

and God was with him, and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him grace and wisdom before Pharaoh the king of Egypt; and he placed him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Tedae khokha neh phacip phabaem loh Egypt neh Kanaan pum te a pai thil khungdaeng vaengah, a pa rhoek tah cakthae khaw dang uh pawh.
And the famine came into all the land and Canaan, and great distress: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 Egypt ah cang a om te Jakob loh a yaak vaengah lamhma la a pa rhoek te a tueih.
And Jacob hearing that there is food in Egypt, sent away our fathers first.
13 Tedae a pabae daengah Joseph loh a manuca rhoek taengah a phoe pah tih, Joseph kah namtu khaw Pharaoh taengah mingpha la coeng.
And the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren, and his race became manifest to Pharaoh.
14 Te phoeiah Joseph loh a napa Jakob neh a cako hinglu sawmrhih panga te a tah tih boeih a khue.
And Joseph sending, called to him Jacob his father, and all the family, seventy-five souls.
15 Jakob tah Egypt la suntla dae amah khaw a pa rhoek khaw duek.
And Jacob went down into Egypt, and he and our fathers died there.
16 Te dongah Shekhem la a khuen uh tih, Shekhem kah Harmor koca rhoek taengah tangka phu neh Abraham loh a lai phuel ah a up uh.
And they were carried over into Shechem, and buried in a tomb which Abraham purchased from the sons of Emmor in Shechem with a sum of money.
17 Pathen loh Abraham taengkah a phong tangtae olkhueh tue loh a yoei coeng bangla, pilnam loh Egypt ah rhoeng uh tih ping uh.
When the time of the promise which God made with Abraham drew nigh, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Te vaengah Joseph aka ming mueh manghai pakhat te Egypt ah phoe.
until another king arose over Egypt, who knew not Joseph.

He dealing fraudulently with our race, afflicted our fathers, that they should expose their infants, so that they should not live.

During which time Moses was born, and was beautiful to God; who was kept three months in the house of his father.

And he being exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh took him, and adopted him for a son to herself.

And Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and was mighty in his words and works.
23 Tedae kum sawmli a cup vaengah, a manuca, Israel ca rhoek te hip hamla a thinko ah a cuen pah.
And when the time of the fortieth year was fulfilled to him, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.
24 Te vaengah hlang pakhat a hnueih te a hmuh tih a rhun. Te dongah a vueinan te kutthungnah a saii pah tih Egypt te a boh.
And seeing a certain one suffering affliction, he interposed, and executed vengeance in behalf of the oppressed one, slaying the Egyptian.

And he supposed that his brethren would understand that God through his hand is giving them salvation: but they did not recognize it.

On the following day, he appeared to them fighting, and undertook to reduce them to peace, saying, Men, you are brethren; therefore do not injure one another.
27 Tedae imben a hnueih loh a tueihno tih, “Kaimih soah boei neh laitloek la nang u long n'tuek.
And the one injuring his neighbor thrust him away, saying, Who appointeth you a leader and a judge over us?
28 Hlaem kah Egypt na ngawn vaengkah a longim bangla kai he ngawn ham na ngaih pawt nim?” a ti nah.
whether do you wish to kill me, in the manner in which you slew the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Tekah ol dongah Moses khaw rhaelrham tih Midian kho ah yinlai la poeh. Te ah te capa panit a sak.
And at this word Moses fled, and became a sojourner in the land of Midia, where he begat two sons.
30 Kum sawmli a cup vaengah puencawn te Sinai tlang kah khosoek ah anih ham tangpuem hmai hmaitak khuiah a phoe pah.
And forty years having passed away, an angel appeared to him in the desert of Mount Sinai in the flame of fire of the bramble bush.
31 A mangthui te a hmuh vaengah Moses loh a ngaihmang. Te dongah hmat hamla a paan hatah,
And Moses, seeing the sight, was astonished: and he coming nigh to investigate, the voice of the Lord came:

I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembling, did not dare to investigate.

And the Lord said to him, Loose the sandal of thy feet: for the place on which thou standest is holy ground.
34 Egypt ah ka pilnam kah thakkhoeihnah te ka sawt ka sawt tih a hueinah te ka yaak coeng. Amih hlawt ham ka rhum coeng dongah halo laeh Egypt la nang kan tueih pawn eh,” a ti nah.
Seeing, I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and heard their groaning, and have come down to deliver them. And come now, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 Moses te, 'Boei neh laitloek la nang u long n'tuek,’ a ti uh tih hnawt uh cakhaw, tangpuem khuiah anih taengla aka phoe puencawn kut dongah anih te boei neh tlankung la Pathen loh a tueih.
And this Moses whom they denied, saying, Who hath established thee a ruler and a judge? him hath God sent a ruler and deliverer, with the hand of an angel having appeared unto him in a bush.
36 Anih loh amih te a mawt vaengah khobae rhambae neh miknoek te Egypt kho neh Tuipuei Sen ah khaw, khosoek kah kum sawmli khuiah khaw a saii.
He led them out, doing wonders and miracles in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
37 Israel ca rhoek taengah, “Na ming manuca khui lamloh kai bang tonghma pakhat te Pathen loh nangmih ham a phoe sak ni, “aka ti khaw Moses amah ni.
This Moses is the one having said to the sons of Israel, A prophet will God raise up to you of your brethren, like unto me.
38 khosoek kah hlangboel taengah, Sinai tlang ah anih aka voek puencawn neh a pa rhoek taengah aka om khaw amah ni. Mamih taengah paek ham aka hing olrhuh khaw anih long ni a doe.
And this is the one being in the church in the wilderness with the angel speaking to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the living oracles to give unto us;

to whom our fathers were not willing to be obedient, but thrust him away, and turned back in their hearts towards Egypt,

saying to Aaron, Make us gods who shall go before us: for this Moses, who led us out from the land of Egypt, we know not what happened to him.
41 Amah tekah khohnin vaengah vaito muei a hlawn uh tih mueirhol taengah hmueih a nawn uh. Tedae amamih kah kutsai nen ni a hmae uh.
And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 Te dongah Pathen loh a mael tak tih vaan caempuei bawk sak ham amih te a voeih. Tonghma rhoek kah cabu dongah a daek bangla, Israel imkhui loh khosoek kah kum sawmli te kai taengah saha neh hmueih nang khuen moenih.
And God turned away, and gave them up to serve the host of the heaven; as has been written in the book of the prophets: Slain victims and sacrifices you have not brought unto me forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel.
43 Molokh kah dap neh na pathen Rhemphan aisi ni na puen uh. Amih te bawk ham a muei na saii uh. Te dongah nangmih te Babylon rhalvangan la kan thak ni.
And ye took up the shrine of Moloch, and the star of the god Remphan, images which you made to worship them; and I will transport you beyond Babylon.
44 Laipai kah dap tah khosoek kah a pa rhoek taengah khaw om coeng. A uen bangla a mueimae a hmuh tarhing ah saii ham ni Moses taengah a thui.
And the tabernacle of testimony was with our fathers in the wilderness, as the one speaking to Moses commanded him to make it according to the example he had seen;
45 Te te a khuen uh tih David tue duela a pa rhoek kah mikhmuh ah Pathen loh a khawkkhek namtom rhoek kah khoyo khuila a pa rhoek neh Joshua loh a pak.
which our fathers receiving, brought in along with Joshua in the dispossession of the nations, whom God drove out, from the face of our fathers, until the days of David,
46 David tah Pathen hmaiah lungvatnah a dang dongah Jakob imkhui te rhaehim hmuh sak ham a bih.
who found favor before God, and asked that he should build a tabernacle for the house of Jacob.
47 Te dongah ni a im khaw Solomon loh a sak.
But Solomon built a house for him.
48 Tedae tonghma loh a thui bangla Khohni tah kutsai dongah kho a sak moenih.
But the Most High dwelleth not in houses built with hands, as the prophet says,
49 Vaan ke ka ngolkhoel ni, diklai khaw ka kho ham khotloeng ni. Mebang im nim kai ham na sak uh, Boeipa loh, “melae ka duemnah hmuen,” a ti.
Heaven is my throne, and earth the footstool of my feet: What house will you build for me? says the Lord; Or what shall be the place of my rest?
50 A cungkuem he ka kut loh a saii moenih a?
Hath not my hand made all of these things?
51 Na thinko neh na hna te a maltalh neh a dul la om. Nangmih loh Mueihla Cim te na tloelh ninoe tih nangmih khaw na pa rhoek bangla na omuh.
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Ghost; as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Tonghma rhoek te na pa rhoek loh a hnaemtaek uh moenih a? Hlang dueng aka lo kawng aka thui rhoek te khaw a ngawn uh. Tahae ah nangmih khaw hlangyoi neh hlang aka ngawn la na om uh.
Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? and they slew those proclaiming concerning the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you became:
53 Anih loh puencawn kah hoihaengnah neh olkhueng a dang dae na tuem uh pawh,” a ti nah.
who received the law in the administrations of angels, and did not keep it.
54 Te te a yaak uh vaengah a thinko ah paeng uh tih a no a rhueng uh.
And hearing these words, they were cut through their hearts and gnashed their teeth at him.
55 Tedae Mueihla Cim neh a bae la a om dongah vaan la a hmaitang vaenghah Pathen kah thangpomnah neh Pathen bantang ah aka pai Jesuh te a hmuh.
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, and looking up to heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 Te dongah, “Vaan ke ong uh tih hlang capa loh Pathen bantang ah a pai te ka hmuh ke,” a ti.
and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

And crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears, and unanimously rushed on him,
58 Te phoeiah khopuei kah a voel la a sol uh tih a dae uh. Laipai rhoek long khaw a himbai te Saul la a khue cadong kah kho ah a pit uh.
and casting him out from the city, they began to stone him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man, called Saul:
59 A dae uh vaengah Stephen loh Pathen a khue tih, “Boeipa Jesuh, ka mueihla he doe lah,” a ti.
and continued to stone Stephen, calling upon the Lord, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 Te phoeiah khuklu cungkueng tih ol ue la pang. Boeipa, tholhnah he amih taengah pai sak boeh,” a ti tih mawt ip.
And putting down his knees, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, do not impute this sin to them. And saying this, he fell asleep.
