1 Abijah he a napa rhoek taengla a khoem uh vaengah tah anih te David khopuei ah a up uh. Te phoeiah a capa Asa anih yueng la manghai. Anih tue vaengkah kum rha khui ah khohmuen khaw mong.
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead, —in his days, the land rested ten years.
2 Asa loh a Pathen BOEIPA mikhmuh ah hnothen neh a thuem ni a saii.
And Asa did that which was good and that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh his God;
3 Kholong hmueihtuk neh hmuensang te a khoe tih kaam te a phaek. Asherah khaw a top.
and took away the foreign altars, and the high places, —and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut in twain the Sacred Stems;
4 A napa rhoek kah Pathen BOEIPA toem ham neh a olkhueng neh a olpaek vai ham khaw Judah rhoek te a uen.
and bade Judah seek Yahweh, God of their fathers, -and execute the law, and the commandment;
5 Judah khopuei tom lamkah hmuensang neh bunglawn te a khoe tih a mikhmuh ah a ram khaw mong.
and removed from all the cities of Judah, the high places, and the sun-images, —and the kingdom became quiet before him.
6 Khohmuen te a mong dongah Judah kah kasam khopuei rhoek te a sak. Anih te BOEIPA loh a duem sak dongah te vaeng tue ah a taengah caemtloeknah om pawh.
And he built cities of defence, in Judah, —for the land had quiet, nor was there near him any war, in these years, because Yahweh had given him rest.
7 Te phoeiah Judah rhoek taengah, “Khopuei rhoek he sa uh sih lamtah vongtung neh rhaltoengim khaw, thohkhaih neh thohkalh khaw buen uh sih. Mamih kah Pathen BOEIPA te n'toem uh dongah khohmuen he mamih mikhmuh ah mong pueng. N'toem uh bangla a kaepvai taengah mamih he m'duem sak,” a ti nah. Te dongah a sak uh tangloeng tih thaihtak uh.
Therefore said he to Judah, Let us build these cities, and let us surround them with walls and towers, doors and bars, while the land is yet before us, for we have sought Yahweh our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built, and prospered.
8 Judah lamkah photlinglen neh cai aka muk tatthai thawng ya thum te Asa taengah om bal. Benjamin lamloh photling aka bai tih lii aka phu, tatthai hlangrhalh boeih he thawng yahnih thawng sawmrhet lo.
And it came to pass that, Asa, had a force bearing shield and spear, out of Judah, three hundred thousand, and, out of Benjamin, such as bare a buckler and trode a bow, two hundred and eighty thousand, —all these, were heroes of valour.
9 Te phoeiah amih te Kushi Zerah loh tatthai thawng thawngkhat, leng ya thum neh a paan tih Mareshah la pawk.
Then came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian, with a force of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots, —and he came as far as Mareshah.
10 Te dongah Asa te a hmai ah cet tih Mareshah kah kolrhawk ah caemtloek rhong a pai.
And Asa went out to meet him, —and they set in array for battle, in the valley of Zaphonah, at Mareshah.
11 Te vaengah Asa loh amah kah Pathen BOEIPA te a khue tih, “Aw BOEIPA, thadueng aka tal te boeiping laklo ah bom ham khaw namah bang a om moenih. Kaimih kah Pathen BOEIPA aw kaimih m'bom lah. Namah dongah ka hangdang uh tih namah ming nen ni he hlangping taengla ka pawk uh. Namah te kaimih kah Pathen BOEIPA ni, namah taengah tah hlanghing loh ueh mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Then Asa cried out unto Yahweh his God, and said, O Yahweh, it is, nothing with thee, to help whether with many or with such as have no strength. Help us, O Yahweh our God, for, on thee, do we lean, and, in thy name, have we come against this multitude, —O Yahweh! our God, thou art, let not, weak man, have power against thee.
12 Te dongah BOEIPA loh Kushi te Asa mikhmuh neh Judah mikhmuh ah a yawk sak tih Kushi rhoek te rhaelrham uh.
So Yahweh smote the Ethiopians, before Asa, and before Judah, —and the Ethiopians fled.
13 Amih te Asa neh a taengkah pilnam loh Gerar hil duela a hloem tih Kushi lamloh a cungku sak. Amih te hinglu hlawtnah a om pawt hil BOEIPA mikhmuh neh a caem mikhmuh ah a khah coeng tih kutbuem khaw a yet la muep a phueih uh.
And Asa and the people that were with him pursued as far as to Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell, so that there was no way for them to recover, for they were routed before Yahweh, and before him host, —and they carried away exceeding much spoil.
14 Te vaengah amih soah BOEIPA taengkah birhihnah a om dongah Gerar kaepvai khopuei boeih te a ngawn uh. A khuiah kutbuem muep a om dongah khopuei tom te a poelyoe uh.
And they smote all the cities round shout Gerar, for the dread of Yahweh was upon them, —and they plundered all the cities, for, great plunder, was there in them.
15 Boiva kah dap khaw a ngawn uh dongah boiva neh kalauk te a cungkuem la a sol uh tih Jerusalem la mael uh.
Moreover also, the tents of the cattle, they smote, —and carried off sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
