1 Camoe Samuel tah Eli mikhmuh ah BOEIPA hamla thotat. Te vaeng tue ah BOEIPA kah ol khaw kuelka pueng tih mangthui khaw pungtai pawh.
The child Samuel ministered to Jehovah before Eli. The word of Jehovah was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.
2 Te khohnin ah Eli tah a hmuen ah yalh. A mik khaw hmaang coeng tih hmu thai voel pawh.
It happened at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see),
3 Pathen kah hmaiim a thih hlanah Samuel khaw BOEIPA kah bawkim ah yalh. Teah te Pathen kah thingkawng om.
and the lamp of God hadn't yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in Jehovah's temple, where the ark of God was;
4 Te vaengah Samuel te BOEIPA loh a khue hatah, “Kai ka om he,” a ti nah.
that Jehovah called, "Samuel. Samuel." And he said, "Here I am."
5 Te phoeiah Eli taengla yong tih, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Tedae, “Kang khue moenih, bal lamtah yalh laeh,” a ti nah vanbangla cet tih yalh.
He ran to Eli, and said, "Here I am; for you called me." He said, "I did not call; lie down again." He went and lay down.
6 Te phoeiah Samuel a khue te BOEIPA loh koep a rhaep. Te dongah Samuel te thoo tih Eli taengla cet. Te vaengah, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Tedae, “Ka ca, kan khue moenih, bal lamtah yalh laeh,” a ti nah.
Jehovah called yet again, "Samuel. Samuel." And he got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am; for you called me." He answered, "I did not call, my son; lie down again."
7 Te vaengah Samuel loh BOEIPA te hmat hlan tih BOEIPA ol khaw anih taengah phoe hlan.
Now Samuel did not yet know God, neither was the word of Jehovah yet revealed to him.
8 A pathum dongah khaw BOEIPA loh a rhaep tih Samuel te a khue. Te dongah a thoh hang neh Eli taengla cet tih, “Kai nang khue tih ka om ta he,” a ti nah. Te daengah camoe te BOEIPA loh a khue tila Eli loh a yakming.
Then Jehovah called Samuel again the third time, and he got up and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli realized that Jehovah had called the child.
9 Te vaengah Samuel te Eli loh, “Cet lamtah yalh laeh, nang te ng'khue atah, 'BOEIPA han thui lah, Na sal long he ka hnatun ngawn,’ ti nah,” a ti nah. Te dongah Samuel te cet tih amah hmuen ah koep yalh.
So he said, "Go, lie down, and if he calls you, reply, 'Speak, for your servant is listening.'" Then Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Te phoeiah BOEIPA te ha pawk tih pai. A noek noek kah bangla, “Samuel, Samuel,” a ti nah. Samuel loh, “Na sal long he ka hnatun dongah han thui ngawn,” a ti nah.
And Jehovah came and stood, and called as at other times. Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."

Jehovah said to Samuel, "Look, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.
12 Tekah khohnin dongah a imkhui ah ka thui ham ka tong tih ka khah boeih nen te Eli ka pai thil ni.
In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
13 Amah im ah kai loh lai ka tloek te amah taengah ka puen coeng. Kumhal duela thaesainah te a ming. A ca rhoi te pamdah tih amih rhoi taengah a ueih moenih.
For I have told him that I will judge his house forever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons were cursing God, and he did not restrain them.
14 Eli imkhui te ka toemngam coeng dongah Eli imkhui kathaesainah a dalh te hmueih nen khaw khocang nen khaw kumhal duela dawth boel saeh,” a ti nah.
Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be removed with sacrifice nor offering forever."

And Samuel lay there until the morning, and in the morning he got up and opened the doors of the house of Jehovah. And Samuel was afraid to tell Eli the vision.
16 Tedae Samuel te, Eli loh a khue tih, “Ka ca Samuel,” a ti nah hatah, “Kai ka om he,” a ti nah.
Then Eli said to Samuel, "Samuel, my son." And he replied, "Here I am."
17 Te phoeiah, “Nang taengah mebang ol lae a thui. Kai taengah phah boeh. Pathen loh nang ham a saii bitni. Nang taengah a thui ol boeih khuiah ol te kai taengah na phah vetih khoengvoep uh ve,” a ti nah.
He said, "What is the thing that he has spoken to you? Please do not hide it from me. May God do thus to you if you hide anything from me of all the words that he spoke to you in your ears."
18 Te daengah Samuel loh olka boeih te phah kolla Eli taengah a thui pah. Te vaengah, “BOEIPA amah loh a mikhmuh ah then a ti bangla saii nawn saeh,” a ti.
And Samuel told him everything, and did not hide anything from him. And he said, "It is Jehovah. Let him do what seems good to him."
19 Samuel a puel hang vaengah BOEIPA khaw anih taengah om. Te vaengah BOEIPA ol pakhat khaw diklai la rhul sak pawh.
So Samuel continued to grow, and Jehovah was with him and let none of his words fail.
20 Dan lamloh Beersheba duela Israel pum loh Samuel tah BOEIPA kah tonghma la cak coeng tila a ming uh.
Thus all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of Jehovah.
21 Shiloh kah a phoe ham te BOEIPA loh a khoep. Te dongah BOEIPA tah BOEIPA ol nen ni Shiloh kah Samuel taengla a phoe pah.
And Jehovah appeared again in Shiloh, for Jehovah revealed himself to Samuel.
