< 1 Samuel 29 >
1 Philisti loh a caem boeih te Aphek ah a coi uh tih, Israel rhoek khaw Jezreel tuiphuet ah rhaeh uh.
Now all the troops of the Philistines were gathered together to Aphec: and Israel also camped by the fountain which is in Jezrahel.
2 Philisti boei rhoek tah yakhat nen khaw thawngkhat nen khaw kat uh dae David tah a hael ah a hlang rhoek neh Akhish neh kat uh.
And the lords of the Philistines marched with their hundreds and their thousands: but David and his men were in the rear with Achis.
3 Te vaengah Philisti mangpa rhoek loh, “Hebrew rhoek te banim ca? a ti uh. Te dongah Philisti mangpa rhoek te Akhish loh, “Te te Israel manghai Saul kah sal David moenih a? Anih te kai taengah a kum la a hnin la om coeng ta. A koep hnin lamkah tihnin hil a lolh pakhat khaw anih pum dongah ka hmuh moenih,” a ti nah.
And the princes of the Philistines said to Achis: What mean these Hebrews? And Achis said to the princes of the Philistines: Do you not know David, who was the servant of Saul the king of Israel, and hath been with me many days, or years, and I have found no fault in him, since the day that he fled over to me until this day?
4 Tedae Philisti mangpa rhoek te anih taengah a thintoek uh. Te dongah amah vik te Philisti mangpa rhoek loh, “Tekah hlang te mael sak lamtah amah na hlah nah hmuen la bal saeh. But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him, and they said to him: Let this man return, and abide in his place, which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest he be an adversary to us, when we shall begin to fight: for how can he otherwise appease his master, but with our heads?
5 Anih te David moenih a? Anih te lam neh a doo uh tih, 'Saul loh thawngkhat, David loh thawngrha, thawngrha a ngawn coeng,’ a ti ta,” a ti uh.
Is not this David, to whom they sung in their dances, saying: Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
6 Akhish loh David te a khue tih, “BOEIPA kah hingnah dongah na thuem coeng. Na pongthoh khaw ka mikhmuh ah then tih rhaehhmuen ah khaw kamah taengah na pongpa mako. Kai taengla na pawk hnin lamloh tihnin due nang soah boethae ka hmuh moenih. Tedae boei rhoek kah mik dongah tah na then moenih.
Then Achis called David, and said to him: As the Lord liveth, thou art upright and good in my sight: and so is thy going out, and thy coming in with me in the army: and I have not found my evil in thee, since the day that thou camest to me unto this day: but thou pleasest not the lords.
7 Te dongah mael lamtah ngaimong la cet mai laeh. Philisti boei rhoek kah mikhmuh ah boethae saii boel mai,” a ti nah.
Return therefore, and go in peace, and offend not the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.
8 David loh Akhish te, “Tedae balae ka saii tih na mikhmuh ah ka om khohnin lamloh tahae khohnin duela na sal pum dongah balae na hmuh coeng. Ka boei thunkha manghai pataeng ka paan tih ka vathoh thil moenih,” a ti nah.
And David said to Achis: But what have I done, and what hast thou found in me thy servant, from the day that I have been in thy sight until this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
9 Te dongah David te Akhish loh a doo tih, “Pathen puencawn bangla ka mikhmuh ah na then te ka ming dae Philisti mangpa rhoek long tah, “Caemtloek khuiah kaimih neh pongpa boel saeh,” a ti uh.
And Achis answering said to David: I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: but the princes of the Philistines have said: He shall not go up with us to the battle.
10 Te dongah namah neh naka pawk hmaih na boeipa kah sal rhoek neh mincang ah thoo uh. Mincang ah na thoo uh vetih kho a tueng neh pahoi na cet mako,” a ti nah.
Therefore arise in the morning, thou, and the servants of thy lord, who came with thee: and when you are up before day, and it shall begin to be light, go on your way.
11 Te dongah David amah neh a hlang rhoek tah mincang ah caeh hamla thoo coeng tih Philisti kho la mael. Tedae Philisti rhoek tah Jezreel la cet uh.
So David and his men arose in the night, that they might set forward in the morning, and returned to the land of the Philistines: and the Philistines went up to Jezrahel.
