< 1 Samuel 27 >
1 David loh a lungbuei ah, “Hnin at atah Saul kut neh ka khoengvoep uh pawn ni. Kai ham a then pawt lakah tah Philisti kho la ka poeng ka hal mai eh. Te daengah ni Israel khorhi khui boeih atah kai tlap ham akhaw Saul loh kai taeng lamkah vi uh vetih a kut te ka poeng ka hal eh,” a ti.
And David says to his heart, “Now I am consumed by the hand of Saul one day; there is nothing better for me than that I diligently escape to the land of the Philistines, and Saul has been despairing of me—of seeking me anymore in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.”
2 Te phoeiah David te thoo tih, a taengkah hlang ya rhuk neh Gath manghai Maoch capa Akhish te a paan.
And David rises, and passes over, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, to Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;
3 David amah neh a hlang rhoek khaw, a hlang kah a imkhui khaw, David neh a yuu rhoi Jezreel nu Ahinoam, Karmel Nabal yuu Abigal khaw, Gath kah Akhish taengah kho a sak.
and David dwells with Achish in Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, [even] David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelitess.
4 Gath la David a yong te Saul taengla a puen pah ngawn dae David tlap koep ham te khoep rhoe khoep voel pawh.
And it is declared to Saul that David has fled to Gath, and he has not added to seek him anymore.
5 Te vaengah David loh Akhish taengah, “Na mikhmuh ah mikdaithen ni ka dang atah, khohmuen kah khopuei pakhat ah kai he hmuen m'pae mai lamtah pahoi ka om mai eh. Ram kah khopuei khuiah na sal loh namah taengah kho a sak te ba ham lae?” a ti nah.
And David says to Achish, “Now if I have found grace in your eyes, they give a place to me in one of the cities of the field, and I dwell there, indeed, why does your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
6 Tekah khohnin ah anih te Akhish loh Ziklag kho te a paek. Te dongah Ziklag he tihnin hil Judah manghai rhoek kah la om.
And Achish gives Ziklag to him in that day, therefore Ziklag has been for the kings of Judah until this day.
7 David loh Philisti khohmuen ah kho a sak te a khohnin khaw amah tarhing atah kum at neh hla li lo coeng.
And the number of the days which David has dwelt in the field of the Philistines [is one year] of days and four months;

and David and his men go up, and they push toward the Geshurite, and the Gerizite, and the Amalekite (for they are inhabitants of the land from of old), as you come to Shur and to the land of Egypt,
9 Khohmuen te David loh a ngawn tih huta khaw tongpa khaw hing sak pawh. Tedae boiva, saelhung, laak, kalauk neh himbai te a loh tih a mael daengah Akhish te a paan.
and David has struck the land, and does not keep alive man and woman, and has taken sheep, and oxen, and donkeys, and camels, and garments, and turns back, and comes to Achish.
10 Te vaengah Akhish loh, “Tihnin atah na muk mahpawt a?” a ti nah hatah David loh, “Judah tuithim neh Jerahmeli tuithim, Keni tuithim a?” a ti nah.
And Achish says, “To where have you pushed today?” And David says, “Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelite, and to the south of the Kenite.”
11 Tedae David kah a saii neh a thui soah, “Kaimih kawng he Gath la a khuen vetih puen ve,” a ti dongah David loh huta khaw tongpa khaw hlun pawh. Tekah khosing nen ni Philisti kho kah a om tue khuiah kho a sak.
David keeps alive neither man nor woman, to bring in [word] to Gath, saying, “Lest they declare [it] against us, saying, Thus David has done, and thus [is] his custom all the days that he has dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.”
12 Te vaengah Akhish loh David te a tangnah tih, “A pilnam Israel taengah a bo rhim la rhim coeng tih kamah taengah kumhal sal la om saeh,” a ti.
And Achish believes in David, saying, “He has made himself utterly abhorred among his people in Israel, and has been for a perpetual servant to me.”
