< 1 Samuel 22 >
1 Gath lamkah loh David cet tih Adullam lungko la a poeng a hal. Te vaengah a manuca rhoek neh a napa imkhui loh boeih a yaak uh tih anih taeng la suntla uh.
David therefore departed from there, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
2 Te vaengah a caeknah kah hlang boeih, David taengah lai aka ba hlang boeih, hinglu khahing hlang boeih loh anih taengla coi uh thae. Te dongah amih taengah mangpa la om tih hlang ya li tluk loh anih taengah om uh.
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, resorted to him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3 David tah te lamloh Moab Mizpeh la cet tih, Moab manghai taengah, “Pathen loh kai ham a saii te ka ming duela a nu neh a pa he nang taengah cu mai saeh,” a ti nah.
And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said to the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
4 Te tlam te Moab manghai kah mikhmuh ah amih te a khuen tih rhalvong khuiah David a om tue khuiah Moab manghai neh kho a sak uh.
And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the strong hold.
5 Tonghma Gad loh David taengah, “Rhalvong khuiah om voel boeh, cet lamtah Judah kho te namah hamla kun thil,” a ti nah. Te dongah David te cet tih Hereth duup te a paan.
And the prophet Gad said to David, Abide not in the strong hold; depart, and come into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
6 David neh anih taengkah hlang rhoek a phoe te Saul loh a yaak. Te vaengah Saul te Gibeah thaehhing kah kolanhlaeng hmuiah ngol tih a kut dongah caai a pom. A sal rhoek long khaw anih te boeih a pai thiluh.
When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him; )
7 Saul loh amah aka pai thil a sal rhoek te, “Benjamin ca rhoek loh ya uh lah, Jesse capa loh nangmih boeih te khohmuen neh misur te m'paek aya? Nangmih te thawngkhat mangpa neh yakhat mangpa la boeih ng'khueh aya?
Then Saul said to his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give each one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
8 Nangmih loh kai he boeih nan hlaengtang thil uh ngawn dae kai capa loh Jesse capa neh paipi a saii vaengah kai hna ah a kun moenih. Tihnin kah bangla kai he rhongngol thil ham ka capa loh ka sal a pai puei te kai ham ko aka thae tih kai hna ah aka thui khaw na om uh moenih,” a ti nah.
That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that showeth to me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or showeth to me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
9 Tedae Saul kah sal rhoek taengah aka pai Edom hoel Doeg loh a doo tih, “Jesse capa te ka hmuh, Nob kah Ahitub capa Ahimelek taengla pawk coeng.
Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10 Anih ham BOEIPA a dawt pah tih anih te lampu a paek. Te phoeiah Philisti Goliath kah cunghang te anih taengla a paek,” a ti nah.
And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
11 Te dongah manghai loh Ahitub capa khosoih Ahimelek neh Nob ah khosoih aka bi a napa imkhui boeih te a tah tih a khue. Te dongah amih te manghai taengla boeih ha pawk uh.
Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
12 Saul loh, “Ahitub capa, hnatun lah,” a ti nah vanbangla, “Ka om he ka boeipa,” a ti nah.
And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
13 Te phoeiah anih te Saul loh, “Balae tih kai he nang neh Jesse capa loh nan hlaengtang thil tih, anih te buh neh cunghang na paek. Tihnin kah bangla kai aka pai thil tih rhongngol thil ham a anih yueng la Pathen na dawt? a ti nah.
And Saul said to him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14 Ahimelek loh manghai te a doo tih, “David bangla aka cak tih manghai cava te na sal rhoek boeih khuiah ulae aka om. Na taengom lamkah nong mai cakhaw na imkhui ah a oep uh.
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, who is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thy house?
15 Tihnin ah anih ham Pathen ka dawt he ka uem a, kai lamkah tah savisava, manghai loh a sal neh a pa cako boeih taengah olcen kama khueh boel saeh. Na sal loh hekah olka a yit a len khaw boeih a ming moenih,” a ti nah.
Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing to his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
16 Tedae manghai loh, “Ahimelek, namah khaw na pa imkhui boeih khaw na duek rhoe na duek ni,” a ti nah.
And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
17 Te phoeiah manghai loh a taengkah aka pai aka cungpoeh rhoek taengah, “BOEIPA kah khosoih te vael uh lamtah ngawn. Amih kut khaw David taengah nuen van tih David a yong te a ming uh lalah kai hna ah phoe puei uh pawh,” a ti nah. Tedae BOEIPA khosoih rhoek cuk thil ham neh a kut hlah thil ham tah manghai kah sal rhoek loh huem uh pawh.
And the king said to the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
18 Te vaengah manghai loh Doeg te, “Doeg nang loh vael lamtah khosoih rhoek te cuuk thil,” a ti nah. Te dongah Edom hoel Doeg loh khosoih rhoek te a vael tih a cuuk thil. Te dongah takhlawk hnisui aka vah hlang sawmrhet panga te hnin at dongah a duek sak.
And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day eighty and five persons that wore a linen ephod.
19 Khosoih rhoek kah khopuei Nob te khaw cunghang ha neh a ngawn tih, tongpa khaw huta, camoe, cahni khaw, vaito, laak neh tu khaw cunghang ha neh a thup.
And Nob, the city of the priests, he smote with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20 Tedae Ahitub capa Ahimelek kah a capa pakhat tah loeih. Anih ming tah Abiathar tih David hnukah yong.
And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
21 Saul loh BOEIPA kah khosoih rhoek a ngawn te Abiathar loh David taengla a puen pah.
And Abiathar showed David that Saul had slain the LORD’S priests.
22 David loh Abiathar taengah, “Edom hoel Doeg loh Saul taengah puen rhoe puen pahoi ni tila amah tekah khohnin ah ka ming, na pa imkhui kah a hinglu boeih te kai ni laikung coeng.
And David said to Abiathar, I knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23 Kai taengah khosa lamtah kai kah hinglu han toem khaw, nang kah hinglu han toem akhaw anih te rhih boeh. Kai taengah tah na sueng coeng,” a ti nah.
Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.
