If he be able to fight with me, and kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
10 Te dongah Philisti loh, “Israel caem rhoek te tihnin ah kai loh ka veet coeng, kai taengah hlang m'pae saeh lamtah khat neh khat hnuei uh rhoi sih,” a ti nah.
And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
11 Amih Philisti ol te Saul neh Israel pum loh a yaak vaengah rhihyawp uh tih bahoeng a rhih uh.
And when Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

And the three eldest sons of Jesse had gone after Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
14 Te vaengah David tah camoe pueng tih a ham pathum longni Saul hnuk a vai uh.
And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.

and bring these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.

And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the place of the wagons, as the host which was going forth to the fight shouted for the battle.
21 Te vaengah caem te caem neh mah hamla Israel neh Philisti loh rhong a pai.
And Israel and the Philistines put the battle in array, army against army.

And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the ranks of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
24 Tekah hlang te Israel hlang boeih loh a hmuh uh vaengah bahoeng a rhih uh tih a mikhmuh lamloh rhaelrham uh.
And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.

And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.
26 Te dongah David loh a taengkah aka pai hlang rhoek te a dawt tih, “Mulhing Pathen caem aka veet pumdul Philisti te unim? Hekah Philisti aka tloek tih Israel pum dongkah kokhahnah aka khoe hlang ham te balae a saii pa eh?,” a ti nah.
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27 Te dongah anih ham pilnam loh hekah olka he a thui pah tih, “Anih aka ngawn hlang ham hekah he a saii pa ni,” a ti nah.
And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.

And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why art thou come down? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 Tedae David loh, “Tahae ah Balae ka saii, tekah te ol moenih a?,” a ti nah.
And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
30 Te phoeiah anih taeng lamkah te a tloe hmai la mael tih olka te koep a dawt hatah olka te lamhma kah olka bangla anih te pilnam loh a thuung.
And he turned away from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.

And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul; and he sent for him.

And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 Tedae David loh Saul taengah, “Na sal he a napa kah boiva taengah aka luem la om. Te vaengah sathueng neh vom halo tih tuping khuikah a koeng.
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock,

Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 Te phoeiah David loh, “BOEIPA loh sathueng kut lamkah neh vom kut lamloh kai n'huul coeng. Amah long ni Philisti kut lamkah kai n'huul eh?,” a ti nah. Te daengah David te Saul loh, “Cet lamtah BOEIPA loh nang taengah ha om nawn saeh,” a ti nah.
And David said, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD shall be with thee.
38 Te phoeiah Saul loh amah kah himbai te David a bai sak tih, a lu dongah rhohum lumuek a muek sak phoeiah caempho khaw a bai sak.

And David girded his sword upon his apparel, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the shepherd’s bag which he had, even in his scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 A pha vaengah Philisti te cet phai tih David taengla a paan phai. Te vaengah Philisti hlang te a hmai ah hlang pakhat loh photlinglen a pom pah.

And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and withal of a fair countenance.
43 Te dongah David te Philisti loh, “Kai he ui tih a? Conghol neh kai taengla na pawk,” a ti nah tih a pathen ming neh David te Philisti loh a tap.
And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 Te phoeiah David te Philisti loh, “Ka taengla halo lamtah, na saa te vaan kah vaa neh kohong kah rhamsa taengla kam pae dae eh,” a ti nah.
And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, which thou hast defied.

This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from off thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel:

53 Philisti a hlak uh lamkah a bal uh phoeiah Philisti rhaehhmuen te Israel ca loh a reth.
And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their camp.

And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Beth-lehemite.
