< 1 Manghai 14 >
1 Te vaeng tue ah Jeroboam capa Abijah te tlo.
At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam, became ill.
2 Te dongah Jeroboam loh a yuu te, “Thoo lamtah thovael uh laeh. Te daengah ni nang te Jeroboam yuu la m'hmat pawt eh. Shiloh kah tonghma Ahijah taengah cet ne. Anih long ni he pilnam soah manghai la om ham kai taengah a thui.
And Jeroboam said to his wife, Now come, put on different clothing so that you may not seem to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh; see, Ahijah is there, the prophet who said I would be king over this people.
3 Na kut dongah buhham neh buhrhaeng cun rha, khoitui tuitang um at khuen. A taengla paan lamtah camoe taengah metla a om ham khaw amah loh nang taengah han thui bitni,” a ti nah.
And take with you ten cakes of bread and dry cakes and a pot of honey, and go to him: he will give you word of what is to become of the child.
4 Jeroboam yuu loh a saii van tangloeng. Thoo tih Shiloh la cet tih Ahijah im a pha. Ahijah khaw a patong neh a mik hmang tih hmu thai voel pawh.
So Jeroboam's wife did so, and got up and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah was unable to see, because he was very old.
5 Tedae BOEIPA Ahijah taengah, “Jeroboam yuu ke a capa kah a tloh dongah nang taengah ol dawt ham ha pawk coeng. Anih te, 'He tlam ni, ke tlam ni, 'ti nah. Anih ha pawk khaw amah loha lah ko,” a ti nah.
And the Lord had said to Ahijah, The wife of Jeroboam is coming to get news from you about her son, who is ill; give her such and such an answer; for she will make herself seem to be another woman.
6 Thohka a pha vaengah a kho ol te Ahijah loh a yaak tih, “Jeroboam yuu ha kun saw, balae tih na muet uh? Kai he nang ham mangkhak la n'tueih coeng.
Then Ahijah, hearing the sound of her footsteps coming in at the door, said, Come in, O wife of Jeroboam; why do you make yourself seem like another? for I am sent to you with bitter news.
7 Cet lamtah Jeroboam taengah thui pah. Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Nang he pilnam khui lamloh kan pomsang tih nang he ka pilnam Israel soah rhaengsang la kang khueh.
Go, say to Jeroboam, These are the words of the Lord, the God of Israel: Though I took you from among the people, lifting you up to be a ruler over my people Israel,
8 Ram he David imkhui lamloh ka phen tih nang taengah kam paek coeng. Tedae ka olpaek aka ngaithuen tih ka mik ah a thuem bueng saii ham a thinko boeih neh kai hnukah aka pongpa ka sal David bangla na om moenih.
And took the kingdom away by force from the seed of David and gave it to you, you have not been like my servant David, who kept my orders, and was true to me with all his heart, doing only what was right in my eyes.
9 Namah hmai kah aka om boeih lakah na saii khaw na thae aih. Na cet tih namah ham pathen tloe na saii. Mueihlawn neh kai nan veet tih kai he na nam la nan voeih.
But you have done evil more than any before you, and have made for yourself other gods, and images of metal, moving me to wrath, and turning your back on me.
10 Te dongah Jeroboam im ah boethae ka khuen coeng he. Jeroboam lamloh pangbueng aka yun thil tih a khoh khaw, Israel khuikah aka loeih khaw ka thup ni. Aekkhuel a cing hil a toih bangla Jeroboam imkhui hnukah ka toih ni.
So I will send evil on the line of Jeroboam, cutting off from his family every male child, those who are shut up and those who go free in Israel; the family of Jeroboam will be brushed away like a man brushing away waste till it is all gone.
11 BOEIPA loh a thui coeng dongah Jeroboam kah a duek rhok te khopuei ah ui loh a caak vetih lohma ah aka duek te vaan kah vaa rhoek loh a caak ni.
Those of the family of Jeroboam who come to death in the town, will become food for the dogs; and those on whom death comes in the open country, will be food for the birds of the air; for the Lord has said it.
12 Namah thoo lamtah na im la mael laeh. Na kho loh khopuei khuila a kun neh camoe te duek ni.
Up, then! go back to your house; and in the hour when your feet go into the town, the death of the child will take place.
13 Anih te Israel pum loh a rhaengsae vetih a up ni. Jeroboam im ah Israel Pathen BOEIPA kah hno then he a khuiah a hmuh dongah Jeroboam khui lamloh anih bueng he ni phuel khuila a pha eh.
And all Israel will put his body to rest, weeping over him, because he only of the family of Jeroboam will be put into his resting-place in the earth; for of all the family of Jeroboam, in him only has the Lord, the God of Israel, seen some good.
14 BOEIPA loh Israel soah manghai a pai sak ni. Anih loh tahae khohnin ah Jeroboam imkhui te a thup pawn ni.
And the Lord will put up a king over Israel who will send destruction on the family of Jeroboam in that day;
15 BOEIPA loh Israel te tui dongkah capu a vikvawk bangla a ngawn vetih a napa rhoek taengah a paek he khohmuen then dong lamloh Israel te a phuk ni. Amamih kah Asherah a saii uh neh BOEIPA te a veet uh dongah amih te tuiva rhalvangan duela a haeh uh ni.
And even now the hand of the Lord has come down on Israel, shaking it like a river-grass in the water; and, uprooting Israel from this good land, which he gave to their fathers, he will send them this way and that on the other side of the River; because they have made for themselves images, moving the Lord to wrath.
16 Jeroboam kah tholhnah kong ah tholh tih Israel a tholh vanbangla Israel te a tloeng ni,” a ti nah.
And he will give Israel up because of the sins which Jeroboam has done and made Israel do.
17 Te phoeiah Jeroboam yuu te thoo tih mael. Tirzah la cet tih im kah cingkhaa te a cawt vaengah camoe te duek.
Then Jeroboam's wife got up and went away and came to Tirzah; and when she came to the doorway of the house, death came to the child.
18 BOEIPA ol loh a sal tonghma Ahijah kut ah a thui bangla camoe a up uh vaengah Israel pum loh anih te a rhaengsae uh.
And all Israel put his body to rest, weeping over him, as the Lord had said by his servant Ahijah the prophet.
19 Ol noi la Jeroboam kah a vathoh neh a manghai te, Israel manghai rhoek kah khokhuen tue olka cabu dongah a daek uh ne.
Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he made war and how he became king, are recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel.
20 A khohnin la Jeroboam he kum kul kum nit a manghai phoeiah tah a napa rhoek taengla khoem uh. Te phoeiah tah anih yueng la a capa Nadab tloep manghai.
And Jeroboam was king for twenty-two years, and was put to rest with his fathers, and Nadab his son became king in his place.
21 Solomon capa Rehoboam tah Judah ah manghai. Rehoboam a manghai vaengah kum sawmli kum khat lo ca coeng. Israel koca boeih khui lamloh amah ming te pahoi khueh ham BOEIPA loh a coelh Jerusalem khopuei ah kum hlai rhih manghai. A manu ming tah Ammoni nu Naamah ni.
And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, was king in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he was king for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the town which the Lord had made his out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there; his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonite woman.
22 Judah khaw BOEIPA mikhmuh ah boethae a saii. A tholhnah neh a tholh uh te a napa rhoek kah a saii boeih lakah BOEIPA a thatlai sakuh.
And Judah did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and made him more angry than their fathers had done by their sins.
23 Amih loh hmuensang neh kaam te amamih ham a thoh uh. Som a sang boeih neh thing hing hmui boeih ah Asherah a linguh.
For they made high places and upright stones and wood pillars on every high hill and under every green tree;
24 BOEIPA loh Israel ca rhoek mikhmuh ah a haek namtom rhoek kah tueilaehkoi cungkuem bangla a saii uh tih khohmuen ah hlanghalh khaw om.
And more than this, there were those in the land who were used for sex purposes in the worship of the gods, doing the same disgusting crimes as the nations which the Lord had sent out before the children of Israel.
25 Rehoboam manghai te a kum nga dongla a pha vaengah Egypt manghai Shishak loh Jerusalem te a paan.
Now in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem;
26 Te vaengah BOEIPA im kah thakvoh neh manghai im kah thakvoh khaw vik a phueih. Solomon loh a saii sui photling boeih te khaw a pum la a loh tih a khuen.
And took away all the stored wealth from the house of the Lord, and from the king's house, and all the gold body-covers which Solomon had made.
27 Te dongah manghai Rehoboam loh a yueng la rhohum photling a saii tih manghai im thohka aka tawt imtawt mangpa kut ah a soep sak.
So in their place King Rehoboam had other body-covers made of brass, and gave them into the care of the captains of the armed men who were stationed at the door of the king's house.
28 BOEIPA im la manghai a kun dingdoeng vaengah imtawt rhoek loh te te a muk uh. Te phoeiah tah imtawt kah tanhnaem la koep a khoem uh.
And whenever the king went into the house of the Lord, the armed men went with him taking the body-covers, and then took them back to their room.
29 Rehoboam kah ol noi neh a saii boeih te Judah manghai rhoek kah khokhuen olka cabu dongah a daek uh moenih a?
Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all he did, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Judah?
30 Rehoboam laklo neh Jeroboam laklo ah hnin takuem caemtloek om.
And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.
31 Rehoboam te a napa rhoek taengla a khoem uh vaengah tah David khopuei kah a napa rhoek taengah a up. A manu ming he Ammoni Naamah ni. Te phoeiah anih yueng la a capa Abijam te manghai.
And Rehoboam went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth with his fathers in the town of David; his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonite woman. And Abijam his son became king in his place.
