1 Pathen kah hlang he BOEIPA ol neh Judah lamloh Bethel la pakcak pawk. Te vaengah Jeroboam tah hmueih phum ham hmueihtuk taengah pai.
Look, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD to Beth El: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

He cried against the altar by the word of the LORD, and said, "Altar, altar, thus says the LORD: 'Look, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. On you he shall sacrifice the cohanim of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men's bones on you.'"
3 Te khohnin ah kopoekrhai a paek tih, “BOEIPA loh he kah kopoekrhai he a thui, hmueihtuk he paeng tih a sokah maehhloi luk pawn ni he,” a ti nah.
He gave a sign the same day, saying, "This is the sign which the LORD has spoken: Look, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out."
4 Bethel ah hmueihtuk aka pang thil Pathen hlang kah ol te manghai loh a yaak. Te dongah Jeroboam loh hmueihtuk dong lamloh a kut a thueng tih, “Anih ke tu uh,” a ti nah. Tedae anih taengla a kut a thueng te a koh pah tih amah taengla yuek thai voel pawh.
It happened, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, that Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, "Seize him." His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.
5 Te phoeiah BOEIPA ol lamloh Pathen hlang kah a paek kopoekrhai bangla hmueihtuk te paeng tih maehhloi khaw hmueihtuk dong lamloh luk.
The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
6 Te daengah manghai loh a doo tih Pathen kah hlang taengah, “BOEIPA na Pathen mikhmuh ah nguek mai. Kai hamla la thangthui lamtah kai he ka kut hoeih pawn saeh,” a ti nah. Pathen kah hlang te BOEIPA mikhmuh ah a nguek daengah manghai te a kut a yueh thai tih lamhma kah thim la a om pah.
The king answered the man of God, "Now plead for the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again." The man of God entreated the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
7 Manghai loh Pathen kah hlang te, “Kamah taengah im la ham paan lamtah na lungbuei duel dae, nang te kutdoe kam paek bitni,” a ti nah.
The king said to the man of God, "Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward."
The man of God said to the king, "Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
9 BOEIPA ol loh kai n'uen tangloeng tih, 'Buh khaw ca boeh, tui khaw o boeh, na caeh long lamloh mael boeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
for so was it commanded me by the word of the LORD, saying, 'You shall eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that you came.'"
10 Te dongah longpuei a tloe longah cet tih Bethel la aka pawk longpuei longah mael voel pawh.
So he went another way, and did not return by the way that he came to Bethel.
11 Te vaengah tonghma patong pakhat tah Bethel ah kho a sak. Te dongah a capa te a pawk vaengah Pathen kah hlang loh Bethel ah hnin at neh bitat cungkuem a saii khaw, manghai taengah athui ol te khaw, a taengah a thui pah tih a napa ham a daek pauh.
Now there lived an old prophet in Bethel; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. And they also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.
12 Te vaengah a napa loh amih te, “Me long nim a caeh,” a ti nah. Te dongah Judah lamkah aka pawk Pathen hlang kah a caeh nah longpuei te a ca rhoek loh a tueng uh.
Their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" Now his sons showed him the way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
He said to his sons, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.
14 Te phoeiah Pathen hlang hnuk te a vai hatah rhokael hmuiah a ngol te hmuh. Te dongah anih te, “Nang he Judah lamkah aka pawk Pathen kah hlang ni nama?” a ti nah hatah, “Kai ni ue,” a ti nah.
He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, "Are you the man of God who came from Judah?" He said, "I am."
15 Te phoeiah anih te, “Kai taengah im la halo lamtah buh ca dae,” a ti nah.
Then he said to him, "Come home with me, and eat bread."
He said, "I may not return with you, nor go in with you; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place.
17 Ka taengkah ol he BOEIPA ol dongkah ni.
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, 'You shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that you came.'"
Puencawn loh kai taengah BOEIPA ol neh a thui tih, 'Anih te namah neh na im la mael puei lamtah, buh ca dae saeh, tui khaw o saeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah tih a taengah basa.
He said to him, "I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, 'Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.'" He lied to him.
19 Te dongah a taengla mael tih a im ah buh a caak, tui khaw a ok pah.
So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.
20 Te phoeiah amih te caboei dongah ngol uh. Te vaengah BOEIPA kah ol anih aka khuen tonghma taengah pai.
It happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came to the prophet who brought him back;
and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, "Thus says the LORD, 'Because you have been disobedient to the mouth of the LORD, and have not kept the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you,
but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, "Eat no bread, and drink no water"; your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.'"
23 Buh a caak phoei neh a ok phoeiah tah anih aka mael puei tonghma loh anih ham laak a khih pah.
It happened, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.
24 Tedae a caeh vaengah anih te sathueng loh longpuei ah a mah tih anih te a duek sak. A rhok te long ah a voeih tih a om vaengah laak te a taengah pai. Sathueng khaw rhok taengah pai.
When he had gone, a lion met him by the way, and killed him. His body was cast in the way, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.
25 Te vaengah hlang aka cet loh longpuei ah rhok yalh tih rhok taengah sathueng a pai te lawt a hmuh uh. Te dongah tonghma patong a om nah khopuei ah a thui uh.
Look, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
26 Te vaengah longpueng lamloh anih aka mael puei tonghma loh a yaak tih, “BOEIPA ol aka koek Pathen kah hlang pai ni, a taengah a thui pah BOEIPA ol bangla BOEIPA loh anih he sathueng taengla a paek dongah a phuet tih a duek sak,” a ti.
When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, "It is the man of God who was disobedient to the mouth of the LORD. Therefore the LORD has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke to him."
27 Te phoeiah a ca rhoek te, “Kai hamla laak te khit uh,” a ti nah tih a khih pauh.
He spoke to his sons, saying, "Saddle the donkey for me." They saddled it.
28 A caeh vaengah a rhok te long ah ana voeih tih rhok taengah laak neh sathueng a pai te a hmuh. Sathueng loh rhok te ca pawt tih laak te khaw nget pawh.
He went and found his body cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body, nor mauled the donkey.
29 Tonghma loh Pathen hlang kah rhok te a pom tih laak dongla a tloeng phoeiah a mael puei. Te phoeiah rhaengsae ham neh up hamla tonghma patong kah khopuei la a pawk puei.
The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. And he came to the city of the old prophet to mourn and to bury him.
30 A rhok te amah phuel ah a yalh sak vaengah, “Anunae kai mana aih,” tila a rhaengsae thil.
He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, "Alas, my brother."
31 Anih te a up phoeiah tah a ca rhoek te a uen tih, “Ka duek vaengah kai he Pathen hlang up nah phuel ah ng'up uh. Anih rhuh taengah ka rhuh he yalh saeh.
It happened, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, "When I am dead, then bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
32 BOEIPA ol lamloh Bethel kah hmueihtuk ham neh Samaria khopuei rhoek kah hmuensang im boeih ham a doek ol te thoeng rhoe thoeng bitni,” a ti nah.
For the saying which he proclaimed by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen."
33 He ol phoeiah khaw Jeroboam he a longpuei thae lamloh a mael moenih. Tedae a bal vaengah khobawt pilnam khui lamkah te hmuensang khosoih la a khueh. A kut loh a pha rhang la aka omtoem tah hmuensang khosoih la ana om van.
After this thing Jeroboam did not return from his evil way, but again made cohanim of the high places from among all the people. He consecrated anyone who wanted to be a cohen at the high places.
34 He hno dongah Jeroboam imkhui ah tholhnah la om tih diklai maelhmai lamloh aka thup ham neh aka mitmoeng sak ham ni a om coeng.
This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
