Zephaniah 1
1 Judah manghai Amon capa Josiah tue vaengah, Hezekiah koca, Amariah capa Gedaliah kah a capa, Kushi capa Zephaniah taengah BOEIPA ol pai.
This is the word of Yahweh that came to Zephaniah son of Cushi son of Gedaliah son of Amariah son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah.
2 Diklai maelhmai dong lamkah a cungkuem he tun ka thup ni. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
“I will utterly destroy everything from off the surface of the earth—this is Yahweh's declaration.
3 Hlang neh rhamsa khaw ka thup ni. Vaan kah vaa neh tuitunli kah nga khaw, a rhok a rhap neh halang khaw ka thup ni. Hlang he diklai maelhmai dong lamloh ka hnawt ni. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
I will destroy man and beast; I will destroy the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, the ruins along with the wicked. For I will cut off man from the surface of the earth—this is Yahweh's declaration.
4 Judah taeng neh Jerusalem kah khosa boeih taengah ka kut ka thueng ni. He hmuen lamloh Baal kah a coih, mueirhol khosoih ming neh, khosoih rhoek te khaw,
I will reach out with my hand over Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off every remnant of Baal from this place and the names of the idolatrous people among the priests,
5 Imphu ah vaan caempuei taengla aka bakop rhoek te khaw, BOEIPA taengah a toemngam lalah Milkom taengah aka toemngam tih aka bakop khaw,
the people who on the housetops worship the heavenly bodies, and the people who worship and swear to Yahweh but who also swear by their king.
6 BOEIPA hnuk lamloh aka balkhong rhoek te khaw, BOEIPA te tlap pawt tih amah aka toem pawt te khaw ka khoe ni.
I will also cut off those who have turned away from following Yahweh, those who neither seek Yahweh nor ask for his guidance.”
7 BOEIPA hnin he yoei coeng tih ka Boeipa Yahovah mikhmuh ah he saahlah hoeih. BOEIPA loh hmueih a tawn tih a khue rhoek te a ciim coeng.
Be silent before the Lord Yahweh! For the day of Yahweh is near; Yahweh has prepared the sacrifice and set apart his guests.
8 BOEIPA kah hmueih hnin a pha pawn ni. Te vaengah mangpa rhoek taeng neh manghai capa rhoek taengah khaw, kholong kah hnicu aka bai boeih taengah khaw ka cawh ni.
“It will come about on the day of Yahweh's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes and the king's sons, and everyone dressed in foreign clothes.
9 Te khohnin ah tah thohkong aka poe boeih, a boei im te kuthlahnah neh hlangthai palat aka bae sak khaw ka cawh ni.
On that day I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, those who fill their master's house with violence and deceit.
10 He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni. Te khohnin ah nga vongka lamkah pangngawlnah ol, a hmatoeng lamkah rhungol, som lamkah a len pocinah om ni.
So it will be on that day—this is Yahweh's declaration— that a cry of distress will come from the Fish Gate, wailing from the Second District, and a great crashing sound from the hills.
11 Vakawh sumngol kah khosa rhoek te rhung uh laeh. Hnoyoi pilnam boeih hmata vetih cak phueikung boeih khaw khoe uh ni.
Wail, inhabitants of the Market District, for all the merchants will be ruined; all those who weigh out silver will be cut off.
12 A tue te a pha vaengah Jerusalem te hmaithoi neh ka phuelhthaih ni. A sampa a khal dongkah hlang rhoek te ka cawh ni. Te rhoek loh a thinko nen tah, 'BOEIPA a then moenih, thaehuet mahpawh,’ a ti.
It will come about at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men who have settled into their wine and say in their heart, 'Yahweh will not do anything, either good or evil.'
13 A thadueng te maehbuem la, a im te khopong la om ni. Im a sak uh akhaw om nah uh mahpawh. Misurdum a tawn uh akhaw a misurtui te o uh mahpawh.
Their wealth will become plunder, and their houses will be an abandoned devastation! They will build houses but not live in them, and plant vineyards but not drink their wine.
14 BOEIPA kah khohnin yoei coeng, yoei tangkik coeng. BOEIPA hnin kah ol tah bahoeng tok coeng. Hlangrhalh khaw khahing la pahoi kawk coeng.
The great day of Yahweh is near, near and hurrying quickly! The sound of the day of Yahweh will be that of a warrior crying bitterly!
15 Te khohnin tah thinpom khohnin, citcai neh khobing khohnin, khohli rhamrhael neh imrhong khohnin, hmaisuep neh khohmuep khohnin, cingmai neh yinnah khohnin ni.
That day will be a day of fury, a day of distress and anguish, a day of storm and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness.
16 Khopuei cakrhuet taeng neh a sang bangkil taengkah tuki neh tamlung khohnin ni.
It will be a day of trumpets and alarms against the fortified cities and the high battlements.
17 Hlang te ka daengdaeh vetih mikdael bangla pongpa uh ni. BOEIPA taengah a tholh uh dongah amih thii te laipi bangla a hawk ni. A buhcak te Aekkhuel bangla om ni.
For I will bring distress upon mankind, so that they will walk about like blind men since they have sinned against Yahweh. Their blood will be poured out like dust, and their inner parts like dung.
18 BOEIPA kah thinpom hnin ah tah a cak long khaw, a sui long khaw amih huul hamla noeng mahpawh. A thatlainah hmai loh diklai pum he a hlawp ni. Diklai khosa boeih te a bawtnah hil tlek a saii ni.
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of Yahweh's fury. In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will bring a complete, a terrible end of all the inhabitants of the earth.”
