Olcueih 7
1 Ka ca ka olthui he ngaithuen lamtah ka olpaek he na taengah khoem ne.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Ka olpaek he ngaithuen lamtah hing puei. Ka olkhueng he na mikhmuh ah thenhnaih la om saeh.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Te te na kutdawn dongah hlaengtang lamtah na lungbuei cabael dongah daek lah.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Cueihnah te, “Ka ngannu nang tah,” ti nah lamtah yakmingnah te pacaboeina la khue.
Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
5 Rhalawt nu taeng lamkah khaw, kholong nu kah hoem ol lamkah khaw namah aka ngaithuen ham ni.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
6 Ka im bangbuet kah thohhuel long ka dan.
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 Te vaengah hlangyoe rhoek te ka hmuh tih cadong ca rhoek khuiah a lungbuei aka talh khaw ka yakming.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 Huta imdak kah bangkil te a paan tih huta im kah longpuei la luei.
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
9 Hlaemhmah ah, khothun kholaeh ah, khoyin yinthuem neh khohmuep ah khaw, cet.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 Anih aka doe ham huta ngawn tah pumyoi hnisui neh a lungbuei a uep coeng ke.
And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 Tekah huta tah hue a sak tih a im ah khaw a thinthah. A khopha khaw duem pawh.
(She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 Tahae nawn ah imkawt ah, tahae ah toltung neh bangkil takuem ah rhongngol coeng.
Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 Tekah cadong te a sol tih a mok, a maelhmai khaw a cadong ham a tanglue pah tih cadong te,
So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said unto him,
14 Kamah taengkah rhoepnah hmueih neh tihnin ah tah ka olcaeng te ka thuung coeng.
[I have] peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15 Te dongah nang doe ham neh na mikhmuh ah toem hamla ka mop tih nang kam hmuh tangloeng.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Ka soengca te Egypt hnitang, cenlang, hniphaih neh ka phaih coeng.
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
17 Ka thingkong dongah murrah, thingul, thingsa ka khueh thil coeng.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Halo lah a hlo neh mincang duela hmilhmal sih lamtah, pumnai neh yoka sih.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 Tongpa loh a im ah om pawt tih khohla ah yiin la cet coeng.
For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 A kut dongah tangka cun a khuen tih hlalum hnin ah ni a im la ha pawk eh?,” a ti.
He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
21 Anih te a rhingtuknah cungkuem neh a yoek tih a hmuilai kah hamsum neh a heh.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
22 Te dongah huta hnukah maeh la aka poeh vaito bangla, aka ang thuituennah dongkah khocin rhui bangla cet.
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 Vaa loh pael khuila a kun paitok bangla a thin te thaltang loh a khoh pah duela a hinglu te ming pawh.
Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
24 Te dongah ca rhoek loh kai ol he hnatun uh lamtah ka ka dongkah olthui he hnatung uh laeh.
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Anih kah longpuei la mael boeh, na lungbuei te anih kah a hawn la khohmang sak boeh.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 Anih loh hmalaem la muep a cungku sak tih aka tlung rhoek khaw boeih a ngawn coeng.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
