1 A hmuilai voeldak neh aka ang lakah amah kah thincaknah neh aka cet khodaeng he then ngai.
Better [is] the poor that walketh in his integrity, than [he that is] perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Mingnah aka om pawh hinglu khaw then pawh, kho neh aka tanolh long khaw a hmaang.
Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth with [his] feet sinneth.
3 Hlang kah a anglat loh amah kah longpuei te a paimaelh pah hatah a lungbuei tah BOEIPA taengah a hmaital.
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4 Boeirhaeng tah paya khaw muep a thap pah dae, tattloel tah a baerhoep long pataeng te a nong tak.
Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 A honghi kah laipai te hmil pawt vetih, laithae aka sat long khaw poenghal mahpawh.
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall not escape.
6 Hlangcong kah maelhmai tah muep a thae sak uh tih, hlang te hlang boeih loh kutdoe neh a paya nahuh.
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man [is] a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 Manuca pataeng aka khodaeng te boeih a hmuhuet uh atah, a baerhoep aisat te a taeng lamloh a lakhla tak ta. A hloem bal akhaw amih te ol a om moenih.
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth [them with] words, [yet] they [are] wanting [to him].
8 A hinglu aka lungnah long tah a lungbuei ah a lai tih, lungcuei long tah hnothen dang hamla a ngaithuen.
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 A honghi kah laipai te hmil pawt vetih, laithae aka sat khaw milh ni.
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall perish.
10 Omthenbawnnah he hlang ang ham a rhoeprhui moenih, sal loh mangpa a taemrhai te bahoeng voel moenih.
Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Hlang kah a lungming loh a thintoek khaw a hlawt pah dongah, boekoek te a boei a mang neh a poe.
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Manghai kah thinkoeh he sathueng bangla kawk dae, a kolonah he baelhing dongkah buemtui bangla om.
The king’s wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favour [is] as dew upon the grass.
13 Capa a anglat te a napa ham talnah la om tih, a yuu kah hohmuhnah khaw tuicip bangla puh.
A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
14 Im neh boeirhaeng he napa kah rho la om cakhaw, hlang aka cangbam yuu he tah BOEIPA taeng lamkah ni.
House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.
15 Ngaknah he ih dongah moo tih, palyal khaw hinglu lamlum.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Olpaek aka tuem loh a hinglu a ngaithuen tih, BOEIPA kah longpuei aka hnoel tah duek rhoe duek ni.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; [but] he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17 BOEIPA kah puhlah long tah tattloel te a rhen tih, a thaphu te amah taengla a thuung ni.
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18 Ngaiuepnah a om vaengah na ca te toel lah, anih duek sak ham tah na hinglu te thak boeh.
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19 Kosi len kah hmulung te tholhphu la a phueih atah na huul cakhaw koep na koei hae ni.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
20 cilsuep he hnatun lamtah thuituennah he doe lah. Te daengah ni na hmailong ah na cueih eh.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Hlang kah lungbuei ah kopoek muep om cakhaw, BOEIPA kah cilsuep long ni a thoh sak.
[There are] many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22 Hlang kah ngaihlihnah tah amah kah sitlohnah he ni. Tedae khodaeng he hlang laithae lakah then ngai.
The desire of a man [is] his kindness: and a poor man [is] better than a liar.
23 BOEIPA hinyahnah he tah hingnah la om tih, ngaikhuek la a rhaeh sak coeng dongah yoethae loh cawh voel pawh.
The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 Kolhnaw long tah bael dongla a kut a puei nawn pataeng a ka khuila a khuen moenih.
A slothful [man] hideth his hand in [his] bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Hmuiyoi te na boh daengah ni hlangyoe bangla a muet uh eh. A yakming la na tluung daengah ni. mingnah te a phatuem pueng eh.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.
26 A napa aka rhoelrhak tih, a manu aka yong sak capa tah yah a poh tih, a khosak khaw tal.
He that wasteth [his] father, [and] chaseth away [his] mother, [is] a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 Ka ca, mingnah olka lamloh palang ham a, thuituennah hnatun ham he na toeng.
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction [that causeth] to err from the words of knowledge.
28 Hlang muen kah laipai loh tiktamnah te a hnael tih, halang kah a ka loh boethae a dolh.
An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Hmuiyoi rhoek ham tholhphu neh anglat kah a nam ham bohnah a tawn uh coeng.
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
