The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
4 Saelhung a om pawt vaengah kongduk khaw caih dae, vaito thadueng lamkah canghum cangpai thoeng.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 Oltak rhoek kah laipai tah a laithae moenih. Tedae a honghi kah laipai long tah laithae ni a sat.
A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
6 Hmuiyoi loh cueihnah a tlap dae a hong ni, mingnah he aka yakming ham tah yoeikoek mai.
A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
7 Hlang ang te a hmai lamloh caeh tak, mingnah olka te na ming pawt ve.
Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
8 Aka thaai kah cueihnah long tah a longpuei te a yakming dae, aka ang kah a anglat tah thailatnah ni.
The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Aka ang loh hmaithennah te a hnael dae, aka thuem long tah a laklo ah kolonah a saii.
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but amongst the upright there is good will.
10 A hinglu khahingnah loh lungbuei a ming. Te dongah a kohoenah dongah rhalawt loh boi thil pawh.
The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
11 Halang rhoek kah im tah a phae pah vetih aka thuem kah dap tah rhoeng ni.
The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 Longpuei he hlang kah mikhmuh ah thuem dae a hmailong ah dueknah longpuei la om.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
13 Nueihbu dongah lungbuei loh thak a khoeih tih, a tloihsoi ah kohoenah khaw pha-ueknah la poeh.
Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
14 Lungbuei aka balkhong khaw, hlang then khaw a khosing te amah hah bitni.
The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
15 Hlangyoe long tah olka boeih te a tangnah dae, aka thaai long tah a khokan te a yakming.
A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.
17 Thintoek bangkek loh a anglat a phoe tih, tangkhuepnah aka khueh hlang khaw a hmuhuet uh.
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
18 Hlangyoe loh anglat a pang tih, aka thaai rhoek loh mingnah te a muei uh.
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Hlang thae rhoek te hlang then rhoek kah mikhmuh ah, halang rhoek te hlang dueng kah vongka ah ngam uh ni.
The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 Khodaeng te a hui long khaw a hmuhuet tih, hlanglen tah muep a lungnah.
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbour, but the rich person has many friends.
21 A hui taengah aka hnoelrhoeng uh tah tholh tih, mangdaeng kodo aka rhen tah a yoethen.
He who despises his neighbour sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
22 Boethae aka uep rhoek te kho a hmang uh moenih a? Tedae sitlohnah neh uepomnah long tah hnothen ni a caai thil.
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
23 Patangnah cungkuem loh kumkonah a om sak. Tedae hmuilai dongkah ol bueng ngawn tah tloelnah la poeh.
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
24 Khuehtawn he aka cueih rhoek kah a rhuisam la om tih, aka ang rhoek tah anglat la anglat coeng.
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
25 Oltak kah laipai loh hinglu a huul tih, hlangthai palat loh laithae a sat.
A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
26 BOEIPA hinyahnah dongah pangtungnah sarhi khaw om, te dongah a ca rhoek ham hlipyingnah la om.
In the fear of the LORD is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
27 BOEIPA hinyahnah tah hingnah thunsih neh, dueknah hlaeh lamloh aka phaelh sak la om.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
28 Pilnam kah cangpai dongah ni manghai kah rhuepomnah khaw a om, namtu a om pawt vaengah mangpa kah porhaknah la om.
In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
29 Thintoek aka ueh tah bahoeng a lungcuei tih, mueihla bangkek loh anglat ni a pomsang.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
30 Lungbuei hoeihnah tah pumsa kah hingnah la om tih, thatlainah khaw rhuh keet la poeh.
The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
31 Tattloel aka hnaemtaek loh amah aka saii ni a veet, BOEIPA aka thangpom long tah khodaeng a rhen.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honours him.
32 Halang tah a boethae ah bung tih, aka dueng tah a dueknah rhangneh ying.
The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
33 Aka yakming kah lungbuei ah cueihnah khaw rhaehrhong tih, hlang ang lakli ah khaw ming uh coeng.
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
34 Duengnah loh namtom a pomsang tih, tholhnah loh namtu te rhaidaeng la a khueh.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
35 Manghai kah kolonah loh sal te a cangbam tih, a thinpom loh yah a bai.
The king’s favour is towards a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is towards one who causes shame.
