1 Ca aka cueih loh pa kah thuituennah a hnatun tih, hmuiyoi long tah tluungnah pataeng hnatun pawh.
A wise son—the instruction of a father, And a scorner—he has not heard rebuke.
2 Hlang lai thaih lamloh a then khaw a cah dae, hnukpoh kah hinglu tah kuthlahnah la poeh.
A man eats good from the fruit of the mouth, And the soul of the treacherous—violence.
3 A hinglu aka ngaithuen long tah a ka a tuem, a ka aka ang soeh khaw amah ham porhaknah la om.
Whoever is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoever is opening wide his lips—ruin to him!
4 Kolhnaw loh a ngaidam dae a hinglu a thum moenih. Tedae aka haam kah a hinglu tah hah ngaikhoek.
The soul of the slothful is desiring, and does not have. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.
5 Aka dueng loh a hong ol te a hmuhuet. Halang tah a borhim tih a hmai tal.
The righteous hates a false word, And the wicked causes abhorrence, and is confounded.
6 Duengnah loh thincaknah longpuei te a kueinah tih, halangnah loh tholhnah a paimaelh.
Righteousness keeps him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthrows a sin offering.
7 Boei tih ba aka khueh pawt khaw om, vawtthoek dae a boei a rhaeng aka coih khaw om.
There is [he] who is making himself rich, and has nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant.
8 Khuehtawn he hlang kah hinglu tlansum ni. Tedae khodaeng loh tluungnah a yaak moenih.
The ransom of a man’s life [are] his riches, And the poor has not heard rebuke.
9 Aka dueng kah khosae tah a kohoe tih, halang kah hmaithoi tah a thih pah.
The light of the righteous rejoices, And the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10 Althanah loh olpungnah a paek tih, uentonah dongah cueihnah om.
A vain man causes debate through pride, And wisdom [is] with the counseled.
11 A honghi lamkah boeirhaeng khaw yip muei tih, amah kut neh aka coi long tah a ping sak.
Wealth from vanity becomes little, And whoever is gathering by the hand becomes great.
12 Ngaiuepnah loh lungbuei aka nue a dangrhoek tih, hingnah thingkung loh ngaihlihnah a cung sak.
Hope prolonged is making the heart sick, And a tree of life [is] the coming desire.
13 Olka aka hnoelrhoeng loh amah ham lai a koi vetih, olpaek aka rhih te anih loh a rhong ni.
Whoever is despising the word is destroyed for it, And whoever is fearing the command is repaid.
14 Aka cueih kah olkhueng tah hingnah thunsih la om tih, dueknah hlaeh lamloh aka nong sak la om.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
15 Lungmingnah then tah mikdaithen la a khueh tih, hnukpoh kah longpuei tah mueng.
Good understanding gives grace, And the way of the treacherous [is] hard.
16 Aka thaai loh mingnah neh boeih a saii tih, aka ang loh a anglat te a yaal.
Every prudent one deals with knowledge, And a fool spreads out folly.
17 Halang puencawn tah yoethae ah cungku tih, oltak kah laipai tah hoeihnah la om.
A wicked messenger falls into evil, And a faithful ambassador is healing.
18 Khodaeng neh yah loh thuituennah a hlahpham tih, toelthamnah aka tuem tah a thangpom.
Whoever is refusing instruction—poverty and shame, And whoever is observing reproof is honored.
19 Ngaihlihnah a dip te hinglu ham khaw tui dae, aka ang long tah boethae lamloh nong ham te tueilaehkoi la a om pah.
A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, And an abomination to fools [Is] to turn from evil.
20 Hlang cueih taengah aka cet la aka cet tah cueih rhoela cueih tih, hlang ang neh aka luem tah lolh coeng.
Whoever is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffers evil.
21 Hlangtholh rhoek te yoethae loh a hloem dae, aka dueng te hnothen neh a thuung.
Evil pursues sinners, And good repays the righteous.
22 Hlang then long tah a ca kah a ca khaw a phaeng dae, laihmu kah a thadueng tah hlang dueng hamla a khoem pah.
A good man causes sons’ sons to inherit, And the sinner’s wealth [is] laid up for the righteous.
23 Khodaeng kah khohai cang tah thawt tangloeng dae, tiktamnah a om pawt dongah a khoengvoep.
Abundance of food—the tillage of the poor, And substance is consumed without judgment.
24 A ca aka thiinah loh a cungcik a hnaih, tedae aka lungnah tah thuituennah neh a toem.
Whoever is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoever is loving him has hurried his discipline.
25 Hlang dueng loh a hinglu dongah kodam la a caak dae, halang tah a bung a vaitah.
The righteous is eating to the satiety of his soul, And the belly of the wicked lacks!
