< Lampahnah 35 >
1 BOEIPA loh Moses te Jerikho Jordan kah Moab kolken ah a voek tih,
And YHWH speaks to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
2 Israel ca rhoek te uen lamtah amih kah khohut rho lamloh Levi te pae uh saeh. Khosa ham khopuei rhoek neh a kaepvai ah khopuei kah khocaak te Levi ham pae uh saeh.
“Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites cities to inhabit from the inheritance of their possession; you also give [the] outskirt around them, of the cities, to the Levites.
3 Te daengah ni amih khosa rhoek ham khaw khopuei om vetih a rhamsa ham neh a khuehtawn ham khaw, a mulhing cungkuem ham khaw a khocaak a om eh.
And the cities have been for them to inhabit, and their outskirts are for their livestock, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
4 Khopuei kah khocaak te khopuei pangbueng lamloh vongvoel kaepvai dong thawngkhat hil tah Levi taengah pae uh.
And the outskirts of the cities which you give to the Levites [are], from the wall of the city and outside, one thousand cubits around.
5 Te dongah khopuei kah vongvoel lamloh khothoeng ben te dong thawng hnih, tuithim ben te dong thawng hnih, khotlak ben te dong thawng hnih, tlangpuei ben te dong thawng hnih suem pah. A laklung kah khopuei tah amih ham khopuei kah khocaak la om saeh.
And you have measured from the outside of the city: the east quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter—two thousand by the cubit; and the city [is] in the midst; this is the outskirts of the cities to them.
6 Khopuei khuiah khaw hlipyingnah khopuei parhuk te Levi taengah pae uh. Te te hlang aka ngawn tah te la rhaelrham sak ham pae uh. Amih te khopuei sawmli panit pae uh.
And the cities which you give to the Levites [are] the six cities of refuge, which you give for the fleeing there of the manslayer, and besides them you give forty-two cities;
7 Levi taengah na paek uh khopuei boeih amih kah khocaak nen tah kho sawmli parhet lo saeh.
all the cities which you give to the Levites [are] forty-eight cities, them and their outskirts.
8 Khopuei te Israel ca kah khohut khui lamloh pae uh. A yet taeng lamkah tah kum sak uh lamtah a sii taeng lamkah tah sih pauh. Hlang long he amah rho dongkah olka tarhing ah a pang vanbangla a khopuei khui lamkah te Levi taengah pae saeh,” a ti nah.
And the cities which you give [are] from the possession of the sons of Israel; from the many you multiply, and from the few you diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, gives to the Levites from his cities.”
9 BOEIPA loh Moses te a voek tih,
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
10 “Israel ca rhoek te voek lamtah amih te thui pah. Nangmih te Kanaan kho khuila Jordan na kat uh vaengah,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
11 Namamih ham khopuei kang uh lamtah nangmih ham hlipyingnah khopuei la om saeh. Te daengah ni tohtamaeh ah hinglu a boh tih aka ngawn loh te lam a rhaelrham eh.
and have prepared cities for yourselves—they are cities of refuge to you—then a manslayer, striking a person through ignorance, has fled there,
12 Te vaengah khopuei rhoek te nangmih taengah hinglu aka suk taeng lamloh hlipyingnah la om saeh. Te daengah ni laitloeknah dongah rhaengpuei mikhmuh la a pai hlan hilah hlang aka ngawn te a duek pawt eh.
and the cities have been for a refuge to you from the redeemer, and the manslayer does not die until his standing before the congregation for judgment.
13 Khopuei parhuk na paek uh te nangmih ham hlipyingnah khopuei la om saeh.
As for the cities which you give, six [are] cities of refuge to you;
14 Khopuei pathum te Jordan kah rhalvangan ah pae uh lamtah khopuei pathum te Kanaan khohmuen ah pae uh.
three of the cities you give from beyond the Jordan, and three of the cities you give in the land of Canaan; they are cities of refuge.
15 Israel ca rhoek ham neh yinlai ham khaw, amih lakli kah lampah ham khaw hlipyingnah khopuei la om saeh. Khopuei parhuk he tah tohtamaeh ah hinglu aka ngawn boeih loh a rhaelrham vaengah hlipyingnah la om saeh.
For sons of Israel, and for a sojourner, and for a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing there of anyone striking a person through ignorance.
16 Tedae aka ngawn long khaw anih te thi hnopai neh a boh tih a duek sak atah hlang aka ngawn te duek rhoe duek saeh.
And if he has struck him with an instrument of iron, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
17 Aka ngawn loh a kut dongkah lungto neh a duek la a thuk tih a duek atah hlang aka ngawn amah te duek rhoe duek saeh.
And if he has struck him with a stone [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
18 Hlang aka ngawn loh a kut kah thing hnopai nen khaw a duek la a boh tih a duek atah hlang aka ngawn amah te duek rhoe duek saeh.
Or [if] he has struck him with a wooden instrument [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
19 Thii aka suk amah loh hlang aka ngawn te duek sak saeh. Anih te amah neh a hum uh vaengah amah loh anih te duek sak saeh.
The redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death himself; in his coming against him he puts him to death.
20 Hmuhuetnah neh a thaek, rhongngolnah neh anih te a dae tih a duek atah,
And if he pushes him in hatred, or has cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dies,
21 thunkha thunhling la anih te a kut neh a thoek tih a duek atah aka thoek te duek rhoe duek saeh. Hlang aka ngawn thii aka suk amah neh a hum uh vaengah hlang aka ngawn te duek sak saeh.
or he has struck him with his hand in enmity, and he dies, the striker is certainly put to death; he [is] a murderer; the redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death in his coming against him.
22 Tedae thunkha thunhling pawt ah buengrhuet la a thaek akhaw, rhongngolnah om pawt ah khaw, hnopai khat khat neh anih te a dae khaming,
And if, in an instant, without enmity, he has pushed him, or has cast any instrument at him without lying in wait,
23 lungto nen khaw a duek sak khaming. A hmuh pawt vaengah anih te a tlak thil tih a duek oeh atah anih te thunkha aih pawt tih a boethae a tlap aih moenih.
or with any stone with which he could die, without seeing, indeed, causes [it] to fall on him, and he dies, and he [is] not his enemy, nor seeking his evil,
24 Te dongah rhaengpuei loh hlang aka ngawn neh thii phu aka suk laklo ah he kah laitloeknah bangla laitloek uh saeh.
then the congregation has judged between the striker and the redeemer of blood by these judgments.
25 Te vaengah rhaengpuei loh hlang aka ngawn te thii phu aka suk kut lamloh huul saeh. Rhaengpuei loh anih te a hlipyingnah khopuei la thak uh saeh lamtah rhaelrham saeh. Tedae Hmuencim kah situi neh a koelh khosoih ham a dueknah rhi hil tah te ah te khosa saeh.
And the congregation has delivered the manslayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the congregation has caused him to return to the city of his refuge, to where he has fled, and he has dwelt in it until the death of the chief priest who has been anointed with the holy oil.
26 Tedae hlang aka ngawn te a hlipyingnah khopuei la rhaelrham tih khorhi te a poe khaw a poe khaming.
And if the manslayer indeed goes out [from] the border of the city of his refuge to where he flees,
27 Te vaengah anih te thii aka suk loh a hlipyingnah khopuei rhi kah vongvoel ah a hmuh tih thii aka suk loh a ngawn atah aka ngawn te a taengah thii long boel saeh.
and the redeemer of blood has found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood has slain the manslayer, blood [is] not [reckoned] to him;
28 Khosoih ham a dueknah rhi hil tah a hlipyingnah khopuei ah khosa saeh. Tedae khosoih ham a dueknah hnukah tah hlang aka ngawn te amah kah khohut khohmuen la mael saeh.
for he dwells in the city of his refuge until the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest the manslayer turns back to the city of his possession.
29 He rhoek he nangmih ham neh na cadilcahma ham khaw na tolrhum boeih ah laitloeknah khosing la om saeh.
And these things have been for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
30 Hinglu aka ngawn boeih tah laipai olka kah bangla hlang aka ngawn te ngawn saeh. Tedae laipai pakhat bueng neh hinglu te duek sak ham doo boel saeh.
Whoever strikes a person, by the mouth of witnesses [one] slays the murderer; and one witness does not testify against a person to cause [him] to die.
31 Hlang aka ngawn kah hinglu ham tlansum te doe uh boeh. Amah a duek hamla aka halang te tah duek rhoe duek saeh.
And you take no atonement for the life of a murderer who [is] condemned to die, for he is certainly put to death;
32 Khosoih a dueknah rhi hil tah a hlipyingnah khopuei la rhaelrham ham neh khohmuen kah khosa la mael sak ham tlansum te lo boeh.
and you take no atonement for him [who had] to flee to the city of his refuge, to return to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
33 Thii loh khohmuen te a poeih coeng dongah a khuiah nangmih loh khohmuen te poeih uh boeh. A soah thii te a long coeng dongah thii aka long sak kah thii nen pawt atah khohmuen ham a dawth thai moenih.
And you do not profane the land which you [are] in, for blood profanes the land; as for the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheds it;
34 A khuiah kho aka sa nangmih loh te kah khohmuen te poeih uh boeh. Kai he a khui ah kho ka sak. Kai Yahweh he Israel ca rhoek a laklung ah kho ka sak.
and you do not defile the land in which you are dwelling, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, YHWH, dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel.”
