The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Na pilnam te coi lamtah Israel ca rhoek kah tawnlohnah neh Median soah phulo laeh,” a ti nah.
“Avenge the children of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.”
3 Te dongah Moses loh pilnam te. a voek tih, “Na taeng lamkah hlang rhoek te caempuei la pumcum saeh lamtah Midian soah BOEIPAkah, tawnlohnah paek ham Midian cuuk uh thil saeh.
Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from amongst you for war, that they may go against Midian, to execute the LORD’s vengeance on Midian.
4 Israel koca boeihkhui lamloh koca khat ah thawng khat, koca khat ah thawng khat rhip te caempuei la tueih uh,” a ti nah.
You shall send one thousand out of every tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”
5 Te dongah Israel. a thawng a thawng khui lamloh koca khat ah thawng khat te hol uh tih thawng hlai nit te caempuei la pumcum uh.
So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand from every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
6 Te phoeiah Moses loh amih koca pakhat lamkah thawng te caempuei la. a tueih. Te vaengah khosoih Eleazar capa Phinekhakhaw, a kut dongkah hmuencim hnopai neh tamlung olueng neh caempuei la cet.
Moses sent them, one thousand of every tribe, to the war with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.
7 Te dongah BOEIPA loh Moses te a uen bangla Midian te. a muk uh tih tongpa boeih te a ngawn uh.
They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses. They killed every male.
8 Midian manghairhoek, tekhaw, amihkah, rhok dongah. a ngawn uh. Midian manghai panga, Evi neh Rekem khaw, Zur neh Hur khaw, Reba neh Beor capa Balaamkhaw, cunghang neh. a ngawn uh.
They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.
9 Israel ca rhoek loh Midian kah huta camoe khaw a rhamsa boeih neh a boiva boeih a mawt uh tih a thadueng boeih khaw a poelyoe pauh.
The children of Israel took the women of Midian captive with their little ones; and all their livestock, all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as plunder.
10 Amihkah, tolrhum lakli, a khopuei boeih neh a lumim boeihkhaw, hmai neh. a hoeh pauh.
All their cities in the places in which they lived, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.
11 Kutbuem boeih khaw, hlang neh rhamsa dongkah a hnorhawt boeih khaw a khuen uh.
They took all the captives, and all the plunder, both of man and of animal.
12 Te phoeiah tamna neh kutbuem hnorhawt te khaw Jerikhokah, Jordan kaep, Moab kolken kah rhaehhmuen kah Moses taeng neh khosoih Eleazar taengah, Israel ca rhaengpuei taengla. a khuen uh.
They brought the captives with the prey and the plunder, to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the children of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.
13 Moses, khosoih Eleazar neh rhaengpueikah, khoboei boeihkhaw, amih doe hamla rhaehhmuen vongvoel la tawn uh.
Moses and Eleazar the priest, with all the princes of the congregation, went out to meet them outside of the camp.
14 Tedae caem aka soep thawng khat mangparhoek, neh caempuei caemtloek lamkah aka pawk yakhat mangpa taengah Moses. a thintoek.
Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.
15 Te phoeiah amih te Moses loh, “Huta tah boeihna hlun uh nama?”.
Moses said to them, “Have you saved all the women alive?
16 Peorkah, olka dongah BOEIPA taeng lamloh boekoeknah la hol uh ham Balaamkah, ol lamloh Israel carhoek, taengla amih ha pawk coeng ne. Te dongah ni lucik loh BOEIPAkah, hlangboel. a tlak thil.
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was amongst the congregation of the LORD.
17 Te dongah camoe lakli kah tongpa boeih te ngawn uh lamtah tongpakah, thingkong dongah tongpa aka ming huta boeihkhaw, ngawn uh.
Now therefore kill every male amongst the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.
18 Tedae huta khuiahkhaw, tongpakah, thingkong aka ming hlan camoe boeih tah namamih ham hlun uh.
But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
19 Nangmih hinglu aka ngawn boeih neh rhok aka ben boeih tah hnin rhih khuiah rhaehhmuen vongvoel la rhaeh uh. A hnin thum neh. a hnin rhih dongah namamih neh na tamna te khaw cilpoe uh.
“Encamp outside of the camp for seven days. Whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.
20 Himbai boeih neh maehpho dongkah hnopai boeih, maae lamkah bitat boeih neh thing hnopai boeihkhaw, cilpoe uh,” a ti nah.
You shall purify every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.”
21 BOEIPA loh Moses taengah a uen bangla olkhueng dongkah khosing he, khosoih Eleazar loh caemtloek la aka cet caempuei hlangrhoek, taengah,
Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to the battle, “This is the statute of the law which the LORD has commanded Moses.
22 “Sui neh cak, rhohum, thi, samphae neh kawnlawk,
However the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 Hmai aka khoeng hno boeih tah hmai ah caeh sak uh lamtah caihcil bitni. Pumom tui neh cilpoe saeh lamtah hmailoh a khoeng pawt boeih tahtui dongah caeh sak uh.
everything that may withstand the fire, you shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity. All that doesn’t withstand the fire you shall make to go through the water.
24 A hnin rhih dongah na himbai te na suk uh tih na caihcil uh phoeiah rhaehhmuen la kun uh,” a ti nah.
You shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean. Afterward you shall come into the camp.”
25 BOEIPA loh Moses te. a voek tih,
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
26 Hnorhawt dongkah hlangmite, na hlang kah tamna neh rhamsa khaw, khosoih Eleazar neh rhaengpuei kah a naparhoek, hlangmikhaw, tae uh.
“Count the plunder that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the congregation;
27 Caempuei la. a khuen tih caem aka tu laklo neh rhaengpuei boeih laklo ah hnorhawt te tael pah.
and divide the plunder into two parts: between the men skilled in war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.
28 Caempuei la aka cet caemtloek hlang rhoek khui lamloh ya nga vaengah hinglu pakhat tah hlang khaw, saelhung khaw, laak khaw, boiva khaw BOEIPA taengah mangmu la tloeng.
Levy a tribute to the LORD of the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred; of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks.
29 A rhakthuem te lo lamtah BOEIPAkah, khosaa la khosoih Eleazar ham pae.
Take it from their half, and give it to Eleazar the priest, for the LORD’s wave offering.
30 Israel ca rhoek kah te a rhakthuemah coelh pah. Sawmnga lamloh pakhat tah hlang khaw, saelhung khaw, laak khaw, boiva khaw, rhamsakhaw, boeih tu lamtah BOEIPAkah, dungtlungimloh a kuek aka ngaithuen Levi taengah pae,” a ti nah.
Of the children of Israel’s half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites, who perform the duty of the LORD’s tabernacle.”
31 BOEIPA loh Moses. a uen vanbangla Moses neh khosoih Eleazar loh a saii.
Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.
32 Caempuei pilnamloh a poelyoe hnorhawt dong lamloh maeh coih la aka om he boiva he thawng ya rhuk neh thawng sawmrhih thawng nga,
Now the plunder, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep,
33 saelhung thawng sawmrhih nehthawng, hnih,
seventy-two thousand head of cattle,
34 Laak thawng sawmrhuk nehthawng, khat lo.
sixty-one thousand donkeys,
35 Hlangkah, hinglu khaw tongpakah, thingkong aka ming pawh huta he. a pum la hinglu thawng sawmthumthawng, nit lo.
and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of the women who had not known man by lying with him.
36 Caempuei la aka kunkah, hamsum rhakthuem he a pum la boiva thawng ya thum neh thawng sawmthum thawng rhih ya nga lo.
The half, which was the portion of those who went out to war, was in number three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred sheep;
37 BOEIPA kah mangmu te boiva dong lamloh ya rhuk sawmrhih panga,
and the LORD’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.
38 Saelhung thawng sawmthumthawng, rhuk lo. Te vaengah BOEIPA ham amihkah, mangmu te sawmrhih pumnit lo.
The cattle were thirty-six thousand, of which the LORD’s tribute was seventy-two.
39 Laak thawng thumkip neh ya nga vaengah BOEIPA ham amih mangmu pum sawmrhuk pakhat lo.
The donkeys were thirty thousand and five hundred, of which the LORD’s tribute was sixty-one.
40 Hlangkah, hinglukhaw, thawng hlai rhuk vaengah BOEIPA ham amihkah, mangmu te hinglu thumkip panit lo.
The persons were sixteen thousand, of whom the LORD’s tribute was thirty-two persons.
41 Te dongah BOEIPA loh Moses. a uen vanbangla BOEIPAkah, khosaa mangmu te Moses loh khosoih Eleazar taengah. a paek.
Moses gave the tribute, which was the LORD’s wave offering, to Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.
42 Israel ca rhakthuem lamloh caem aka muk hlang taeng lamkah khaw Moses loh a tael pah.
Of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided off from the men who fought
43 Hlangboel rhakthuem lamloh boiva thawng ya thum neh thawng sawmthum thawng rhih ya nga lo.
(now the congregation’s half was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred sheep,
44 Saelhung he thawng thumkip neh thawng rhuk lo.
thirty-six thousand head of cattle,
45 Laak thawng sawmthum neh ya nga lo.
thirty thousand and five hundred donkeys,
46 Hlang kah hinglu thawng hlai rhuk lo.
and sixteen thousand persons),
47 Israel carhoek, rhakthuem dongkah te Moses. a loh. Sawmnga ah pakhat tah hlang lamkah khaw, rhamsa lamkah khaw a loh tih BOEIPA loh Moses. a uen bangla BOEIPA dungtlungim kah a kuek aka ngaithuen Levi taengah. a paek.
even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites, who performed the duty of the LORD’s tabernacle, as the LORD commanded Moses.
48 Te phoeiah caempuei a thawng thawng aka soep, thawng khat mangparhoek, neh yakhat mangpa rhoek tahMoses taengla mop uh.
The officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses.
49 Moses taengah, “Na sal rhoek loh caemtloek hlang rhoek kah boeilu te. a tae uh vaengah mamih lamkah he kaimih kut hmuiah hlang he a hmaai moenih.
They said to Moses, “Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our command, and there lacks not one man of us.
50 Te dongah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah kaimih kah hinglu ham aka dawth la hlang loh a hmuh sui hnopai, cak neh khungpak, kutcaeng, hnathawn neh oilung te BOEIPA nawnnah ham kang khuen,” a ti uh.
We have brought the LORD’s offering, what every man found: gold ornaments, armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before the LORD.”
51 Te dongah Moses neh khosoih loh Eleazar amih taeng lamkah sui neh kutsai hnopai boeih te. a doe.
Moses and Eleazar the priest took their gold, even all worked jewels.
52 Te dongah thawngkhat mangpa rhoek neh yakhat mangpa rhoek taeng lamloh BOEIPA taengah khosaa la a tloeng uh sui boeih he shekel thawng hlai rhuk ya rhih sawmnga lo.
All the gold of the wave offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand and seven hundred and fifty shekels.
53 Caempuei hlang rhoek long khaw amah kah hlang te a poelyoe uh.
The men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.
54 Te phoeiah Moses neh khosoih Eleazar loh thawngkhat neh yakhat mangparhoek, lamkah sui te. a doe tih tingtunnah dap la BOEIPA mikhmuh ah Israel carhoek, ham poekkoepnah. la a khuen.
Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the Tent of Meeting for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.
