And Israel sojourned in Sattin, and the people profaned itself by going a-whoring after the daughters of Moab.
2 Te vaengah pilnam te amih kah pathen hmueih kung laa khue uh. Te dongah pilnamloh a caak tih amih kah pathen taengah bakop uh.
And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.
3 Tedae Israelte Baalpeor neha sun uh dongah BOEIPA kah thintoek tah Israel taengah sai.
And Israel consecrated themselves to Beel-phegor; and the Lord was very angry with Israel.
4 Te vaengah BOEIPA loh Moses te, “Pilnam kah a lu boeih te khuen lamtah amih te khosae kah BOEIPA hmai ah hoeng laeh. Te daengah ni BOEIPA kah thintoek thinsa he Israel lamloha mael eh?,” a ti nah.
And the Lord said to Moses, Take all the princes of the people, and make them examples [of judgment] for the Lord in the face of the sun, and the anger of the Lord shall be turned away from Israel.
5 Te dongah Moses loh Israel kah laitloekrhoek taengah, “A hlang rhoek khuiah Baalpeor taengla aka sun hlangte ngawn,” a ti nah.
And Moses said to the tribes of Israel, Slay you every one his friend that is consecrated to Beel-phegor.

And, behold, a man of the children of Israel came and brought his brother to a Madianitish woman before Moses, and before all the congregation of the children of Israel; and they were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of witness.
7 Khosoih Aaron capa Eleazar koca Phinekhaloh a hmuh vaengah rhaengpuei lakli lamloh thoo tih a kut dongah caia muk.
And Phinees the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, and rose out of the midst of the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand,

and went in after the Israelitish man into the chamber, and pierced them both through, both the Israelitish man, and the woman through her womb; and the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
9 Tedae lucik ah aka duek he thawng kul thawng li lo.
And those that died in the plague were four and twenty thousand.
10 Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh Moses tea voek tih,
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
11 “Amih lakli ah ka thatlainah neh ka thatlai vaengah Khosoih Aaron capa Eleazar koca Phinekha loh ka kosi te Israel carhoek taeng lamkaha mael sak. Te dongah ni Israel carhoek te ka thatlainah neh ka khah pawh.
Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest has caused my wrath to cease from the children of Israel, when I was exceedingly jealous among them, and I did not consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.
12 Te dongah thui pah, ka paipi he a taengah rhoepnah la ka paek coeng.
Thus do you say [to him], Behold, I give him a covenant of peace:
13 A Pathen hama thatlai pah tih Israel carhoek hama dawth pah yueng te anih ham neh amah hnukkah a tiingan ham kumhalah khosoihbi paipi la om ni,” a ti nah.
and he and his seed after him shall have a perpetual covenant of priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.
14 Te vaengah Median nu neha ngawnlaa ngawn Israel hlanga ming tah, Simeon napa im kah khoboei Salu capa Zimri,
Now the name of the struck Israelitish man, who was struck with the Madianitish woman, [was] Zambri son of Salmon, prince of a house of the tribe of Symeon.

And the name of the Madianitish woman who was struck, [was] Chasbi, daughter of Sur, a prince of the nation of Ommoth: it is a chief house among the people of Madiam.
16 Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh Moses tea voek tih,
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying,
17 “Median te daengdaeh lamtah amih te ngawn.
Plague the Madianites as enemies, and strike them,
18 Amih loh nangmih te a rhaithinah neh n'daengdaeh. Peor kah ol dongah khaw Midian khoboei canu Kozbi kah ol dongah nangmih te n'rhaithi bal. Peor ol bangla a tanute lucik hnin ah ngawn,” a ti nah.
for they are enemies to you by the treachery wherein they ensnare you through Phogor, and through Chasbi their sister, daughter of a prince of Madiam, who was struck in the day of the plague because of Phogor.
