< Nahum 1 >

1 Elkosh Nahum kah mangthui cabu he tah Nineveh kah olrhuh ni.
The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 Pathen tah thatlai tih BOEIPA loh phu a loh. BOEIPA loh phu a loh tih kosi boei la om. BOEIPA loh a rhal soah phu a loh tih a thunkha rhoek taengah khaw lunguen.
God [is] jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and [is] furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth [wrath] for his enemies.
3 BOEIPA loh thintoek a ueh. A thadueng tah len khaw len tih hmil rhoe la hmil mahpawh. BOEIPA tah cangpalam khui neh hlithae khuiah khaw a longpuei om tih cingmai te a kho dongah a tangdik nah.
The LORD [is] slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit [the wicked: ] the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds [are] the dust of his feet.
4 Tuitunli te a tluung tih a kak sak phoeiah tuiva khaw boeih a khah. Bashan neh Karmel te a tahah sak tih Lebanon rhaiphuelh khaw a tahah sak.
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5 Amah taengah tlang rhoek khaw hinghuen uh tih som rhoek khaw paci uh. A mikhmuh ah diklai khaw, lunglai neh a khuikah khosa boeih khaw phoek uh.
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 A kosi hmai ah unim aka pai? A thintoek thinsa te unim aka oel thai? A kosi he hmai bangla hawk uh tih lungpang khaw amah taengah palet uh coeng.
Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 BOEIPA tah citcai tue vaengkah lunghim la then tih amah ah aka ying rhoek tah a ming.
The LORD [is] good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 Tedae lungpook neh aka pah rhoek tah amah hmuen ah a bawtnah hil a saii vetih a thunkha rhoek te hmaisuep ah a hloem ni.
But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9 Balae tih BOEIPA te na taeng. A bawtnah hil a saii sak vetih citcai pabae khaw pai thai mahpawh.
What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10 Hling lakli ah aka ven uh tih a yuhuem bangla aka yumii rhoek ngawn tah divawt a rhae rhap bangla ung uh ni.
For while [they be] folden together [as] thorns, and while they are drunken [as] drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
11 Nang lamlong ni BOEIPA aka taeng la boethae kah olrhoep hlang muen khaw a thoeng.
There is [one] come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
12 BOEIPA loh he ni a. thui. Rhuemtuet la ping uh tangloeng dae a vok uh vetih khum ni. Nang te kan phaep cakhaw nang kan phaep voel mahpawh.
Thus saith the LORD; Though [they be] quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 A cunghloeng te nang dong lamloh ka khaem pawn vetih na kuelrhui te khaw ka bawt ni.
For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 Nang ham te BOEIPA loh a uen coeng. Na ming ham khaw na pathen im ah soem voel mahpawh. Mueithuk neh mueihlawn te ka hnawt ni. Na phuel te thaephoei ham ni ka khueh eh.
And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, [that] no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
15 Tlang soah rhoepnah aka phong tih aka yaak sak kah a kho aih ke. Judah aw, na khotue ah lam laeh. Na olcaeng te thuung laeh. Aka paan ham long khaw na khuila paan ham tah khoep voel ngawn mahpawh. Aka muen tah a pum la a thup ni.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
