Then was Jesus conducted by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.

And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Then the tempter accosting him, said, If thou be God's Son, command that these stones become loaves.

Jesus answering, said, It is written, "Man lives not by bread only, but by everything which God is pleased to appoint."
5 Tephoeiah anih terhaithae loh khopuei cim la a khuen tih, bawkim kah tlungsoi ah a pai sak.
Then the devil conveyed him into the holy city, and having placed him on the battlement of the temple,
6 Te vaengah amah te, “Pathen capa la na om atah namah cungpung thuk lah, a daek coeng ta, a puencawnrhoek te nang hama uen vetih, amih kut neh n'dom bitni, na kho khaw lungto nehna tongtah mahpawh,” a ti nah.
said to him, If thou be God's Son, throw thyself down; for it is written, "He will give his angels the charge of thee: they shall uphold thee in their arms, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
7 Jesuh loh, “Boeipa na Pathen te noemcai boeh tila a daek van,” a ti nah.
Jesus again answered, It is written, "Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof."
8 Te phoeiah rhaithae loh tlang bahoenga sang laa khuen tih, “Diklai ram boeih neh a thangpomnah tea tueng.
Again the devil took him up a very high mountain, whence he showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their glory,
9 Rhaithae loh, “Na bakoptih kai nan bawk atah he rhoek he nang boeih kam paek ni,” a ti nah.
and said to him, All these will I give thee, if thou wilt prostrate thyself, and worship me.
10 Jesuh loh, “Satan cet, Boeipa na Pathen bueng mah bawk lamtah thothueng tila a daek coeng,” a ti nah.
Jesus answered, Satan, begone; for it is written, "Thou shalt worship the Lord they God, and shall serve him only."
11 Te daengah rhaithaeloh a hlah. Te phoeiah puencawn rhoek loh pahoia paan uh tih Jesuh te a khut uh.
Then the devil leaving him, angels came and ministered to him.
12 Johana voeih uh tea yaak vaengah Galilee la khoe uh.
Now Jesus, hearing that John was imprisoned, retired into Galilee,
13 Nazareth te a hnoo tih, Zebulun neh Naphtali vaang khuikah Kapernaum tuikaeng la pawktih kho a sak.
and having left Nazareth, resided at Capernaum, a seaport in the confines of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 Te daengah ni tonghma Isaiah loha thui tea soep eh.
thereby verifying the words of Isaiah the Prophet;
15 “Zebulun peng neh Naphtali peng, tuipuei kah longpuei, Jordan rhalvangan, namtomrhoek kah Galilee,
"The canton of Zebulun and the canton of Naphtali, situate on the Jordan near the sea, Galilee of the nations;
16 Yinnah khuikah ngol sut pilnam loh vangnah a len koek a hmuh tih, dueknah hlipkhup kho ah akangol rhoek soah vangnah ha thoeng coeng,” ati.
the people who abode in darkness, saw a great light, and on those who inhabited a region of the shades of death, light has arisen.
17 Tevaeng lamkah niJesuh loh, “Vaan ram te a yoei coeng dongah yut uh laeh,” tila hoe ham neh thui ham te a tong.
From that time Jesus began to proclaim, saying, Reform, for the Reign of Heaven approaches.
18 Galilee tuipuei kaeng ah a pongpa vaengah, Simon laakhue Peter neh a manuca Andrew teboeina panit a hmuh. Tuihoi la om rhoi tih tuili ah lawk a voeih rhoi.
Then walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon named Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a drag into the sea, for they were fishers.
19 Te vaengah amih rhoi te, “Nangmih rhoi he kai hnukah hlang aka tu tuihoi la kan saii ni,” a ti nah.
And he said to them, Come with me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Immediately they left the nets and followed him.
21 Te lamloha caeh vaengah a tloe kah boeina rhoi panit, Zebedee kah capa James neh a mana Johan tah lawng dongkah a napa Zebedee neh lawka bo uh te a hmuh tih amih rhoi te khaw a khue.
Passing on he saw other two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the bark with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
22 Te rhoi loh lawng neh a napa te paka hlah rhoi tih bang rhoi.
They immediately, leaving the bark and their father, followed him.
23 Jesuh loh Galilee kho tom ah cet tih, amih kah tunim aha thuituen, ram kah olthangthen khawa hoe, tlohtat boeih neh pilnam khuikah tlohnat boeih te a hoeih sak.
Then Jesus went over all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the glad tidings of the Reign, and curing every sort of disease and malady among the people.
24 Te vaengah a olthangte Syria tom la cet tih, tlohtata soeprhaep neh tloh aka khueh boeih, nganboh aka yook, rhaithae aka kaem rhoek, rhaihum neh aka khawn rhoekte a taengla a khuen uh tih amih te a hoeih sak.
And his fame spread through all Syria, and they brought him all their sick, seized and tormented with various distempers, demoniacs, and lunatics, and paralytics, and he healed them.
25 Te dongah Galilee, Decaplois, Jerusalem, Judea neh Jordan rhalvangan lamkah hlangping yetnuloh a vai uh.
And vast multitudes followed him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from the banks of the Jordan.
