< Matthai 20 >

1 Vaan ram tah imkung hlang pakhat phek la om. Anih tah a misurdum kah bibikung coep ham yue cet.
For the Administration of Heaven will resemble the conduct of a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.
2 Te vaengah bibikung rhoek neh hnin at ham denarii pakhat neh a kotluep tih amih te a misurdum la a tueih.
Having agreed with some for a denarius a-day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 Khonoek pathum tlukah a caeh hatah hnoyoih hmuen ah pai uh tih aka palyal rhoek te a hmuh.
About the third hour he went out, and seeing others unemployed in the market place,
4 Te dongah te rhoek te, “Nangmih khaw misurdum la cet uh lamtah a dueng la aka om te tah nangmih te kam paek bitni,” a ti nah.
said to them, Go you likewise into my vineyard, and I will give you what is reasonable. Accordingly they went.
5 Te dongah te rhoek khaw cet uh. Te phoeiah khonoek parhuk neh pako tluk ah khaw cet tih koep a tlap bal.
Again, about the sixth hour, and about the ninth, he went out and did the same.
6 Hlaikhat tluk kah a caeh vaengah a tloe rhoek sut aka pai rhoek te a hmuh. Te dongah amih te, “Balae tih sut na pai uh tih khohnin yung ah na palyal uh he?” a ti nah.
Lastly, about the eleventh hour, he went out, and finding others standing, said to them, Why do you stand here all the day doing nothing?
7 Te vaengah amah te, “Kaimih he n'coep uh moenih,” a ti nahuh. Te dongah amih te, “Nangmih khaw misurdum la cet uh saw,” a ti nah.
They answered, Because no person has hired us. He said to them, Go you also into my vineyard, and you shall receive what is reasonable.
8 Hlaem ben a pha vaengah misurdum boei loh a dumtawt taengah, “Bibikung rhoek te khue lamtah lamhnuk rhoek lamkah tong lamtah lamhma duela amih te thapang thuung laeh,” a ti nah.
When it was night, the proprietor of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, and ending with the first.
9 Khonoek hlaikhat tluk kah aka pawk rhoek khaw denarii pakhat rhip a dang uh.
Then they who had been hired at the eleventh hour came, and received each a denarius.
10 Lamhma la aka pawk rhoek loh muep a dang uh ni tila a poek uh. Tedae amih khaw denari pakhat ni rhip a dang uh.
When the first came, they imagined they should receive more; but they got only a denarius a-piece.
11 Te tla aka dang rhoek loh imkung taengah kohuet uh.
Upon receiving it, they murmured against the householder,
12 Te dongah “He rhoek a lamhnuk rhoek tah khonoek pakhat ni a bi uh dae, hnin at puet kholing hnorhih aka ueh kaimih neh amih te vanat la na khueh,” a ti na uh.
saying, These last have worked but one hour; yet you have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden and heat of the day.
13 Tedae amih te pakhat la a doo tih, 'Pueivan aw nang kan thae nah moenih, kai neh denarii pakhat ham kotluep a om moenih a?
He answering, said to one of them, Friend, I do you no injury. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
Take what is yours, and depart. It is my will to give to this last as much as to you.
15 Kamah koe nen te ka ngaih bangla ka saii tueng moenih a? Kai a then la ka om te nang kah mik loh a lolh la a om sak a? 'a ti nah.
And may not I do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil, because I am good?
Thus the last shall be first, and first last; for there are many called, but few chosen.
17 Jesuh loh hnukbang hlainit rhoek te hloep a khue tih Jerusalem la cet.
When Jesus was on the road to Jerusalem, he took the twelve aside, and said to them,

and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified; but the third day he will rise again.
20 Te vaengah Zebedee ca rhoek kah a manu loh a ca rhoek te Jesuh a paan puei tih a bawk. Tedae a taengkah hno pakhat a bih.
Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to him with her sons, and, prostrating herself, entreated he would grant the request she had to make.
21 Jesuh loh anih te, “Balae na ngaih,” a ti nah. Te vaengah, “Ka ca rhoi he na ram ah tah na bantang ah pakhat na banvoei ah pakhat ngol rhoi saeh ti mai laeh,” a ti nah.
He said to her, What do you wish? She answered, That, in your Reign, one of these my two sons may sit at your right hand, the other at your left.
Jesus replying, said, You know not what you ask. Can you drink such a cup as I must drink? They said to him, We can.

He answered, You shall indeed drink such a cup. But to sit on my right hand, and at my left, I can not give, unless to those for whom it is prepared by my Father.
24 Parha rhoek loh a yaak uh vaengah te rhoi boeina kawng te a yakdam uh.
The then, hearing this, were full of indignation against the two brothers;
25 Tedae Jesuh loh amih te a khue tih, “Namtom rhoek kah boei rhoek tah amamih vueinan uh tih a len rhoek loh amamih a huttet uh thae te na ming.
but Jesus, calling them to him, said, You know that the Princes of the nations domineer over them, and the great exercise their authority upon them.
It must not be so amongst you: on the contrary, whosoever would become great amongst you, let him be your servant;
and whosoever would be chief amongst you, let him be your slave:
28 Hlang Capa tah hlang thohtat sak ham pawt tih thohtat pah ham neh a hinglu te ping kah tlansum la paek ham ni halo,” a ti nah.
even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
29 Amih te Jerikho lamloh a khong uh vaengah Jesuh te hlangping loh muep a vai.
As they left Jericho, followed by a great multitude,

The multitude charged them to be silent: but they cried the louder, saying, Master, Son of David, have pity on us.
32 Te vaengah Jesuh tah pai tih amih rhoi te a khue. Te phoeiah, “Nangmih rhoi ham balae saii sak na ngaih rhoi,” a ti nah.
Then Jesus stopping, called them, and said, What do you want me to do for you?
33 Te dongah, “Boeipa, kaimih rhoi mik tah tueng lah saeh,” a ti rhoi.
They answered, Sir, to make us see.
34 Jesuh tah a thinphat tih amih rhoi mik te a taek pah. Te vaengah tlek a hmuh rhoi tih Jesuh hnuk a vai rhoi.
Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. Immediately they received sight, and followed him.
