< Matthai 11 >
1 Jesuh loh a hnukbang rhoek hlainit a uen te a khah vaengah, amamih kah khopuei rhoek ah thuituen ham neh hoe ham te te lamloh thoeih.
When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in the cities of Galilee.
2 Te vaengah Khrih kah bibi boeih te Johan loh thongim khui ah a yaak tih a hnukbang rhoek te a tueih.
Now when John heard in prison about the works Christ had done, he sent two of his disciples
3 Te vaengah, “Namah ah naka pawk, a tloe a ka lamso eh?,” patoeng a ti nah.
to ask him, “Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?”
Jesus answered them, “Go tell John what you hear and see:
5 Mikdael loh a hmuh tih aka khaem loh cet coeng. Hmaibae loh cing coeng, hnapang hnalol loh a yaak coeng. Aka duek khaw thoo tih khodaeng taengah olthangthen a phong coeng.
The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are made clean and the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have good news preached to them.
6 U khaw kai kongah a khah pawt atah yoethen la om,” a ti nah.
And blessed is anyone who does not take offense at me.”
7 Amih boeih a caeh uh phoeiah Jesuh loh hlangping taengah Johan kawng te a tong tih, “Ba sawt ham nim khosoek khuila na caeh uh? Yilh loh a hlinghloek capu a?
As these men went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
8 Tedae ba sawt ham nim na caeh uh? a hnal la aka phuekhlaak hlang te nim? Himbai hnal aka bai ke manghai im ah om uh ke.
What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who wear soft garments are in the palaces of kings.
9 Ba sawt ham nim na caeh uh? Tonghma a? Thuem, nangmih taengah kan thui, anih tah tonghma lakah olpuei ngai ta.
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
For this is the one of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of yoʋ, who will prepare yoʋr way before yoʋ.’
11 Nangmih taengah rhep kan thui. Huta kah a cun khuiah tuinuem Johan lakah aka tanglue phoe pawh, tedae vaan ram kah a yit koek pataeng anih lakah a tanglue la om.
Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist, but whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 Tuinuem Johan tue lamloh tahae duela vaan ram te a ael thil tih, aka aelkung rhoek loh a poelyoe uh.
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been suffering violence, and the violent try to take it by force.
13 Johan duela tonghma rhoek neh olkhueng loh boeih a phong coeng.
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 Tedae doe hamla na ngaih uh koinih, halo hamla aka cai Elijah tah Johan coeng ni.
And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.
15 Hna aka khueh loh ya saeh.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
16 Tedae hekah cadil he ba nen lae ka thuidoek lah eh? Hnoyoih hmuen ah ngol uh tih hlang tloe aka khue, aka thui camoe rhoek phek la om.
“But to what should I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to their companions,
‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not mourn.’
18 Johan ha pawk tih a caak a ok pawt hatah, ‘Rhaithae a kaem,’ a ti uh.
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
19 Hlang capa ha pawk tih a caak a ok hatah, 'Carhut neh yumi hlang la ke, mangmucoi rhoek neh hlangtholh rhoek kah a puei a po,’ a ti uh. Tedae cueihnah khaw a khoboe long ni a tang sak,” a ti nah.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her children.”
20 Te phoeiah a thaomnah a kumngai a tueng sak kho rhoek te a yut uh pawt dongah ol a tong tih,
Then Jesus began to reproach the cities in which most of his miracles had been done, because they did not repent:
21 Anunae Khorazim nang te. Anunae Bethsaida nang te, Nangmih taeng ah ka thaomnah ka tueng sak he Tyre neh Sidon ah ka tueng sak koinih tlamhni, hmaiphu neh yut uh dingrhae pawn ni.
“Woe to yoʋ, Chorazin! Woe to yoʋ, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 Tedae nangmih taengah kan thui. Laitloeknah khohnin ah Tyre neh Sidon tah nangmih lakah a phoeng la om ni.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
And yoʋ, Capernaum, who have been exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in yoʋ had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs )
24 Tedae nangmih taengah kan thui. Laitloeknah khohnin ah Sodom kho tah nang lakah a phoeng la om ni,” tila a toel.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for yoʋ.”
25 Tevaeng tue ah Jesuh loh a doo tih, “A pa, vaan neh diklai kah Boeipa nang kan uem tangkik, he rhoek he hlangcueih neh lungming taeng lamkah loh na thuh tih cahmang rhoek taengah na pumphoe coeng.
At that time Jesus said, “I praise yoʋ, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because yoʋ have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to infants.
Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in yoʋr sight.
27 A pa loh kai he a cungkuem la m'paek coeng. Tedae u khaw a ngaih atah capa loh a pumphoe pah coeng.
All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Ka hnamkun he na pum dongah phuei uh lamtah kamah taeng lamkah he cang uh.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 Kai kah hnamkun tah kodam coeng tih ka hnophueih loh a yanghoep la om,” a ti.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
