Marku 6

Then Jesus left that place and went to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.
2 Sabbath a pha neh tunim ah thuituen ham te a tong. Te vaengah aka ya rhoek boeih loh let uh tih, “Anih loh hebang he mekah lae a hmuh? Mekah cueihnah nim anih a paek tih a kut neh hebang thaomnah he a tueng sak?
When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? And what is this wisdom that has been given to him, that such miracles are done by his hands?
3 Anih he Mary capa, James, Joses, Judah neh Simon kah a manuca, lettama la a om moenih a? A ngannu rhoek khaw mamih taengah a om uh moenih a he?” a ti uh. Te dongah anih kongah te amih te a khah uh.
Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
4 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih te, “Tonghma he a tolrhum ah, a hui rhoek lakli neh a im khuikah pawt atah sawtsit ti om pawh,” a ti nah.
Then Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household.”
5 Tedae hlang tlo a yool kut a tloeng tih hoeih sak pawt koinih te ah te a thaomnah pakhat khaw tueng thai mahpawh.
So he could do no miracles there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
6 Amih kah hnalvalnah kongah a ngaihmang. Tedae kho kah a taengvai te a hil tih a thuituen.
And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then Jesus went around among the villages teaching.
7 Hlainit te a khue phoeiah rhalawt mueihla soah saithainah te amih taengah a paek tih amih te panit panit ah a tueih.
He summoned the twelve and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits.
8 Te phoeiah amih te longpueng ah conghol bueng pawt atah buhcun, sungsa, cihin khuiah rhohum khaw khuen pawt ham a uen.
He instructed them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no knapsack, no bread, and no copper money in their belts.
9 Tedae khokhom a khom tih angki yung nit puei sak pawh.
He told them to wear sandals but not an extra tunic.
10 Te phoeiah amih te, “Im na kun thil uh coeng te tah te lamkah loh na voei hlan khuiah pahoi naeh thil.
He also said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place.
11 Nangmih aka doe pawt tih nangmih kah ol aka hnatun pawt hmuen te tah, te lamkah loh na nong uh vaengah na kho hmuikah tangdik te khoek uh lamtah amih taengah laipai la om saeh,” a ti nah.
If anyone will not receive you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet as you leave that place, as a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that city.”
12 Te daengah cet uh tih tholh yut ham a hoe uh.
So they went out and preached that people should repent.
13 Rhaithae khaw Gmuep a haek uh. Aka tlo khaw situi neh a hluk uh tih muep hoeih uh.
They also cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.
14 Jesuh ming tah mingpha coeng tih Herod manghai loh a yaak vaengah, “Tui aka nuem Johan tah duek lamkah thoo coeng. Te dongah a khuikah thaomnah loh a tueng pah,” a ti uh.
Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus' name had become known, and he said, “John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why these mighty powers are at work in him.”
15 Tedae a tloe rhoek loh, “Elijah ni,” a ti uh. A tloe rhoek bal loh, “Tonghma rhoek khuikah tonghma pakhat van coini,” a ti uh.
Others said, “He is Elijah.” And others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.”
16 Herod loh a yaak vaengah, “Kai loh ka rhaih Johan te ni aka thoo coeng,” a ti
But when Herod heard this, he said, “This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead.”
17 Herod amah rhoe loh a tah tih Johan te a tuuk. Te vaengah anih te a manuca Philip yuu, Herodias kawng neh thongim ah a khoh.
For Herod himself had sent men to arrest John and chain him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, whom Herod had married.
18 Anih te a yunah dongah Johan loh Herod te, “Na maya yuu te na loh tueng moenih,” a ti nah.
For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for yoʋ to have yoʋr brother's wife.”
19 Te dongah Herodias loh Johan te a hmuhuet tih ngawn ham a ngaih dae ngawn thai pawh.
So Herodias held a grudge against John and wanted to kill him, but she was not able to do so.
20 Herod loh Johan te aka dueng neh aka cim hlang ni tila a ming dongah a rhih tih a tuem. Johan ol a yaak vaengah muep ingang dae liplip a hnatun.
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he protected him. When Herod listened to John, he would listen to him gladly and do many things.
21 Herod loh cunnah khohnin tapkhoeh a pha vaengah a hlanglen rhoek, rhalboeipa rhoek, Galilee kah a congkhang rhoek ham te hlaembuh a saii pah.
But an opportune day came. On his birthday Herod prepared a banquet for his nobles, military commanders, and the prominent men of Galilee.
22 Te vaengah Herodias canu te kun tih a lam hatah Herod neh aka ngol rhoek te a ko a hoe sak. Manghai loh hula te, “Na ngaih te tah kai taengah ham bih lamtah nang kan pae eh?,” a ti nah.
When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. So the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever yoʋ wish, and I will give it to yoʋ.”
23 Te phoeiah anih taengah rhep a toemngam tih, “Kai taengah na bih te tah ka ram rhakthuem hil khaw nang kan paek ni,” a ti nah.
He swore to her, “Whatever yoʋ ask me, I will give to yoʋ, up to half my kingdom.”
24 Tedae cet tih a manu taengah, “Balae ka bih eh?” a ti nah hatah a manu loh, “Tuinuem Johan kah a lu te,” a ti nah.
So she went out and said to her mother, “What should I ask for?” Her mother said, “The head of John the Baptist.”
25 Te dongah manghai taengah thahluenah neh thaeng kun tih, “Baelpuei dongah tuinuem Johan kah a lu te kai nan paek pahoi hamla ka ngaih,” a ti nah tih a bih.
Immediately the girl came in with haste to the king and made her request, saying, “I want yoʋ to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”
26 Manghai loh ngang a yaak dae a olhlo neh aka ngol rhoek kongah te aal hamla ngaih pawh.
Although the king was very sad, because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to reject her.
27 Tedae manghai loh rhalkap koe a tueih tih a lu te hang khuen ham ol a paek. Te dongah cet tih Johan te thongim khuiah a rhaih.
So the king immediately sent an executioner and commanded that John's head be brought back.
28 Te phoeiah Johan kah lu te baelpuei dongah han khuen tih hula te a paek. Hula long khaw a manu te a paek.
The executioner then went and beheaded John in the prison, brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl. And the girl gave it to her mother.
29 A yaak uh vaengah Johan kah hnukbang rhoek tah ha pawk uh tih a rhok te a khuen uh tih phuel ah a khueh uh.
When John's disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
30 Te vaengah caeltueih rhoek te Jesuh taengah tingtun uh tih a saii neh a thuituen uh boeih te a taengah puen uh.
Meanwhile, the apostles gathered around Jesus and told him about all they had done and taught.
31 Te vaengah amih te, “Nangmih tah namamih bueng mah khosoek hmuen la halo uh lamtah rhaih duem uh dae,” a ti nah. Aka voei rhoek neh aka bal rhoek te muep a om vaengah buh caak ham pataeng hoeng uh pawh.
Then he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest for a little while.” For many people were coming and going, and Jesus and his apostles did not even have an opportunity to eat.
32 Te dongah amamih bueng khosoek hmuen la lawng neh cet uh.
So they went away to a desolate place in the boat by themselves.
33 Amih a caeh uh te a hmuh uh tih muep a ming uh vaengah kho tom lamloh kho neh capit uh tih ana lamhma uh coeng.
Now many saw them going away and recognized Jesus. They ran together on foot from all the towns, got there ahead of them, and then gathered around him.
34 Tedae a caeh vaengah hlangping te muep a hmuh. Te vaengah tudawn aka om pawh tu rhoek bangla a om uh dongah amih soah a thinphat tih amih rhoek te muep pahoi a thuituen.
When Jesus went ashore and saw a large crowd, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.
35 Kholaeh tue a pha coeng atah a hnukbang rhoek loh amah te a paan tih, “Khosoek hmuen la om tih a tue khaw kholaeh coeng.
When the hour was already quite late, his disciples came to him and said, “This place is desolate, and the hour is now late.
36 Amih he n'tueih daengah ni a taengvai kah lohma neh vangca la cet uh vetih amamih caak te khaw a lai uh eh,” a ti nauh.
Send the people away so that they can go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves some bread, for they have nothing to eat.”
37 Tedae Jesuh loh amih te a doo tih, “Amih te caak koi nangmih loh pae uh,” a ti nah. Te vaengah amah taengah, “Ka cet uh vetih denari yahnih phu vaidam ka lai uh mako, te phoeiah amih caak te ka paek uh mako,” a ti uh.
But Jesus answered them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?”
38 Te vaengah Jesuh loh amih te, “Vaidam meyet na khueh uh? Cet uh lamtah so uh lah,” a ti nah. Te daengah a ming uh tih, “Vaidam hluem nga neh nga lung nit om,” a ti na uh.
He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.”
39 Te phoeiah amih te, khopol hing soah a boel boel la boeih ngolhlung sak ham a tueih.
Then he directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.
40 Te dongah sawmnga ah yakhat ah hloep hloep ngol uh.
So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties.
41 Te vaengah vaidam hluem nga neh nga lung nit te a doe. Vaan la oeloe tih a uem phoeiah vaidam te a aeh tih hlangping paek ham a hnukbang rhoek te a paek. Nga rhoi te khaw boeih a rhek.
Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing. He broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and he divided the two fish among them all.
42 Te vaengah boeih a caak uh tih hah uh.
They all ate and were filled,
43 Te phoeiah nga neh vaidam kah a nueipil te voh hlainit dongah a bae la a phueih uh.
and the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces and of the fish.
44 Te vaengah vaidam aka ca rhoek te tongpa thawngnga lo uh.
Now those who had eaten the loaves were five thousand men.
45 Te Phoeiah hlangping te a tueih hlan ah a hnukbang rhoek te lawng khuiah a kun sak tih rhalvangan kah Bethsaida la lamhma phai ham tlek a tanolh.
Immediately Jesus compelled his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side of the sea, to Bethsaida, while he sent the crowd away.
46 Amih te a phih phoeiah thangthui ham tlang la cet.
After taking leave of them, he went to the mountain to pray.
47 Hlaem a pha vaengah lawng te tuili kah laklung ah om tih amah bueng lan ah om.
When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and he was alone on the land.
48 Hnukbang rhoek tah khohli loh a kingkalh la a mang dongah lawng a kaih loh a ngawn uh tea hmuh. Khoyin khonoek pali vaengah tuili soah cet tih amih taengla pawk. Tedae amih khum tak hamla a ngaih.
He saw the disciples straining as they rowed, for the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea, and intended to pass them by.
49 Tedae tuili soah a caeh te a hmuh uh vaengah mueihla ni tila a poek uh tih pang uh.
But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out.
50 Amah te boeih a hmuh uh vaengah thuen uh. Tedae amih te tlek a voek tih, “Ngaimong sak uh, Kai ni, rhih uh boeh,” a ti nah.
For they all saw him and were terrified. But Jesus immediately said to them, “Take courage! It is I; do not be afraid.”
51 Te phoeiah amih taengah lawng dongla luei tih khohli khaw paa. Te dongah amamih khuiah a nah la mat limlum uh.
Then he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly and completely amazed and in awe;
52 Vaidam kawng pataeng hmuhming uh pawt dae a thin te a ning sak uh.
for they did not understand the significance of what had happened with the loaves, because their hearts were hardened.
53 Lan la hlaikan uh tih Gennesaret a pha uh vaengah duem uh.
When they had crossed the sea, they came to the land of Gennesaret and moored the boat.
54 Lawng dong lamkah loh a suntlak uh vaengah Jesuh te kawl a hmat uh.
When they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized Jesus.
55 Kho tom a hil uh dongah tloh aka khueh rhoek te, Jesuh om tila a yaak nah la phakdoeng dongah koe a koh uh.
So the people ran around throughout the entire surrounding region and began to carry the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.
56 Amah a kun nah te tah vangca ah khaw, khopuei ah khaw, lohma ah khaw, hnoyoih hmuen ah khaw tattloel rhoek te a tloeng pauh. Te vaengah a himbai dongkah salaw te taek ham pataeng anih te a hloep uh. Te dongah anih aka taek rhoek boeih tah daem uh.
And wherever he went, to villages, cities, or the countryside, they would lay the sick in the marketplaces and beg him to let the sick touch even the fringe of his garment. And all who touched it were healed.
