< Luka 7 >

1 A ol te pilnam kah a hna ah boeih a baetawt sak phoeiah tah Kapernaum la kun.
When he had ended all his discourse in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 Te vaengah rhalboei kah sal pakhat te tloh a khueh tih dalh duek. Anih tah a taengah a khoelh la om.
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die.
3 A kawng a yaak coeng dongah Judah patong rhoek te Jesuh taengla a tueih tih a sal hoeih sak ham halo dae saeh tila a cael.
And having heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, and besought him to come and save his servant.
4 Te rhoek loh Jesuh te a paan uh phoeiah ngahngah a cael uh tih, “Anih te doedan tueng la om he,
And they came to Jesus, and besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldst do this for him;
5 mah namtu a lungnah dongah tunim te khaw anih long ni mamih ham a sak,” a ti nah.
for he loveth our nation, and himself built the synagogue for us.
6 Te dongah amih te Jesuh loh a caeh puei tih im pha ham pataeng hla voel pawh. Te vaengah rhalboei loh a puei rhoek te a tueih tih, “Boeipa, na tawnba mai pawt nim? Ka imphu ah na kun ham khaw a koihvaih la ka om moenih.
And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof;
7 Namah te kam paan ham khaw ka tueng moenih. Tedae ol kamat mah thui lamtah ka sal he hoeih bitni.
on which account I did not think myself worthy to come to thee; but command with a word, and let my servant be healed.
For even I am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9 Te te Jesuh loh a yaak vaengah a ngaihmang. Te dongah anih aka vai hlangping te a mael thil tih, “Nangmih taengah ka thui, Israel khuiah pataeng tangnah heyet ka hmuh moenih,” a ti nah.
And Jesus hearing this, wondered at him; and turning round said to the multitude that followed him, I say to you, Not even in Israel have I found such faith.
10 A tueih rhoek te im la a bal uh vaengah rhalboei kah a sal te sading la a hmuh uh.
And they who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well.
11 A vuen a pha neh Nain la a khue kho pakhat la cet. Te vaengah anih te a hnukbang rhoek neh hlangping loh muep a puei uh.
And it came to pass the day after, that he was going to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples were with him, and a great multitude.
12 Khopuei vongka neh a yoei vaengah manu pakhat tah capa khueh duen te a duek pah tih tarha hang khuen. Anih te nuhmai la om dae, khopuei kah hlangping loh anih taengah muep omuh.
And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her.
13 Anih te a hmuh vaengah Boeipa loh anih soah a thinphat tih, “Rhap boeh,” a ti nah.
And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not.
14 A paan tih rhoep te a taek vaengah aka kawt rhoek loh cawt a pai puei uh. Te phoeiah, “Cadong namah, thoo laeh ka ti,” a ti nah.
And he came up, and touched the bier; and they who bore it stood still; and he said, Young man, I say to thee, Rise.
15 Te dongah aka duek te ngol tih pahoi cal. Te phoeiah anih te a manu taengla a paek.
And he that was dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
16 Te vaengah rhihnah loh boeih a thing uh. Te dongah, “Mamih taengah tonghma puei ha thoeng coeng, Pathen loh a pilnam a hip,” a ti uh tih Pathen a thangpom uh.
And fear seized on all, and they gave glory to God, saying, A great prophet hath risen up among us; and, God hath visited his people.
17 Te dongah Jesuh kah ol loh Judah pum neh te rhoek pingpang boeih a pha.
And this report about him went forth in all Judaea, and in all the neighboring country.
18 Te rhoek boeih te a hnukbang rhoek loh Johan taengla a puen pauh. Te dongah Johan loh a hnukbang rhoek khuikah panit te a khue.
And the disciples of John told him all these things.
19 Boeipa taengla a tueih tih, “Aka pawk la na om coeng atah a tloe ka lamso pueng aya?” a ti nah.
And calling to him two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
20 Tekah hlang rhoi loh Jesuh te a paan rhoi tih, “Tuinuem Johan loh nang taengla kaimih rhoi n'tueih tih, 'Aka pawk la na om atah a tloe ka lamso aya?' a ti,” a ti nah.
And the men came to him and said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
21 Te vaeng tue ah tlohtat khaw, nganboh khaw, mueihla thae muep a hoeih sak. Mikdael rhoek khaw muep a hmuh sak.
In that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight.
Mikdael loh a hmuh coeng, aka khawn loh pongpa coeng, hmaibae khaw cing tih hnapang loh a yaak, aka duek rhoek khaw thoo uh coeng, khodaeng loh olthangthen a yaak coeng.
And he answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye have seen and heard; that the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor good tidings are brought;
23 Tedae kai kongah a khah pawt te tah yoethen la om,” a ti nah.
and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
Khohli kah a hinghuen capu a?
And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What have ye gone out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
25 Tedae himbai hnal neh aka phuekhlak uh hlang te hmuh ham nim na caeh uh? Rhuepom pueinak neh pumdomnah dongah kho aka sa rhoek tah manghai-im ah om uh lah ko ke.
But what have ye gone out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they who wear gorgeous apparel, and live luxuriously, are in kings' palaces.
Tonghma a?
But what have ye gone out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
Anih long ni nang hmaikah na longpuei te a rhoekbah eh.
This is he of whom it is written, “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
28 Nangmih taengah kan thui, huta kah a cun rhoek khuiah Johan lakah aka tanglue a om moenih. Tedae Pathen ram khuiah a yit koek long pataeng anih lakah tanglue la om,” pahoi a ti nah.
I say to you, Among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John; but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29 Aka ya pilnam boeih neh mangmucoi rhoek long tah Pathen te a tang sak uh tih Johan kah baptisma neh nuem uh.
And all the people when they heard him, and the publicans, acknowledged God as righteous by being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Tedae Pharisee rhoek neh olming rhoek long tah Pathen kah mangtaengnah te amamih ham a aal uh dongah Johan lamloh nuem uh pawh.
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God toward themselves, not being baptized by him.
31 Te dongah tahae cadil hlang rhoek ba nen nim ka thuidoek lah vetih unim phek a loh uh he?
To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?
32 Hnoyoih hmuen ah ngoluh tih khat neh khat aka khue uh thae camoe rhoek phek a lohuh.
They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not weep.
33 Tuinuem Johan ha pawk tih buh ca pawh, misur khaw a ok pawt hatah, 'Rhaithae a khueh,’ na ti uh.
For John the Baptist hath come not eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.
34 Hlang capa loh ha pawk tih a caak, a ok hatah, 'hlang khaw carhut neh yumi la he, mangmu aka coi neh hlangtholh rhoek kah a paya ni,' na ti uh.
The Son of man hath come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35 Tedae cueihnah loh a ca rhoek te boeih a tang sak.
But wisdom is acknowledged by all her children.
And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and he went into the Pharisee's house, and reclined at the table.
37 Pharisee im ah buh a vael te kho ah aka om hlangtholh nu loh lawt a ming.
And lo! a woman who was in the city, a sinner, learning that he was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-bottle of ointment,
38 Te dongah botui te lungbok um dongah a khuen tih a rhah doela Jesuh kho tang ah pai. Te phoeiah Jesuh kho te mikphi neh koe a sul tih a lu sam neh a huih pah. A kho te a mok pah tih botui neh a hluk pah.
and standing behind at his feet, weeping, began to wet his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Anih aka khue Pharisee loh a hmuh vaengah a khuiah a toel tih, “Anih he tonghma la om koinih amah aka taek huta te, unim?, mebangnim? ti khaw a ming ni ta, hlangtholh dae ni ke,” a ti.
And the Pharisee who had invited him, when he saw this, said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would know who, and what sort of woman, this is that toucheth him; for she is a sinner.
40 Te dongah Jesuh loh anih te a doo tih, “Simon, nang taengah thui ham bet ka khueh,” a ti nah. Anih long khaw, “Thui lah saw saya,” a ti nah.
And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.
41 Puhlah pakhat taengah purhong panit om tih, pakhat loh denari yanga, pakhat loh sawmnga a ba.
A certain money-lender had two debtors; one owed five hundred denaries, and the other fifty.
42 Tedae a thuung nah a khueh rhoi pawt dongah vik a yoe sak. Te vaengah amih rhoi khuiah ulae puhlah a lungnah ngai eh?,” a ti nah.
When they had nothing to pay, he freely remitted the debt of both. Which of them, now, will love him the most?
43 Simon loh a doo tih, “A yet a yoe sak te ka ti,” a ti nah.
Simon answering said, He, I suppose, to whom he remitted the most. And he said to him, Thou hast judged rightly.
44 Te phoeiah huta taengla mael tih Simon te, “Huta he na hmuh a? Nang im khuila ka kun dae, kai he kho silh tui nan paek moenih. Anih long tah kai kho he mikphi neh a sul tih a sam neh a huih.
And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered thy house, no water didst thou give me for my feet; but she wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair.
45 Kai taengah moknah khaw nang khueh pawh, anih long tah ka kun parhi te kai kho a mok he toeng voel pawh.
No kiss didst thou give me; but she, from the time I came in, did not cease to kiss my feet.
46 Ka lu he situi nan hluk pawh, anih long tah ka kho he botui neh a hluk.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she anointed my feet with costly ointment.
47 Te dongah ni namah taengah kan thui, anih tah tholh a yet loh a hlah coeng dongah muep a lungnah. Tedae a yool a hlah pah long te tah a yool ni a lungnah,” a ti nah.
Wherefore, I say to thee, her many sins have been forgiven; for she loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven loveth little.
48 Te phoeiah huta te khaw, “Na tholhnah loh n'hlah coeng,” a ti nah.
And he said to her, Thy sins have been forgiven.
49 Te vaengah aka vael rhoek loh amamih khuiah, “Tholh aka hlah pah te ulae aka om he,” pahoi a ti uh.
And those who were at table with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?
50 Huta te khaw, “Na tangnah loh nang ng'khang coeng, ngaimong la cet laeh,” a ti nah.
But he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
